I'm about to start my first playthrough on insanity cause I've beaten the game several times so I figured why not go for the challenge. I'm going to use a sentinel because as long as I'm punishing myself, I might as well use the most fun class (IMO). What build do you suggest? Also, this is a NG+ playthrough, will it be super insanity, or because my original ME2 playthrough was on Veteran, will it be normal insanity?

I first tried insanity with my level 26 Sentinel and.. it was insane. I got stuck early on and died a bunch, probably on Freedom's Progress (lol) or Mordin's somewhere in the quarantined zone. I decided to start a new career with a level 1 Sent and I'm now about to start the Suicide Mission, if that tells you anything. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty hard and you still have be patient.. But it's less frustrating just starting a new career, for me at least.

Throughout most of the playthrough I abused Reave really.. I'm about to retrain powers and try to change it up. Power Armor, Guardian, Area Reave (thinking about changing this to Energy Drain or Warp Ammo), and Overload (still playing around with heavy vs area). If I do decided to pick up a new bonus talent, I'll be getting Area Warp for sure to cover for Barriers and Armor and those pesky Husk stampedes.

I'm about halfway through my first playthrough on insanity with my Sentinel. It was a fresh character imported from ME1.

I went with Armor-Piercing Ammo as my additional power. It's working out well for me, I think. Tech Armor is as amazing as everyone's been saying. It's really useful. I think I struggle the most with picking squadmates. It definitely matters on Insanity. Garrus seems to be really useful, though. His Overload and Concussive Shot makes him pretty well rounded. I was partnering him up with Mordin 'cause of the Incinerate (which is amazing when maxed out). However, I was struggling with the pair while doing Tali's joining quest 'cause the Geth mostly have shields and health, no armor. I switched it up and used Miranda. With all three of us with Overload, it's going much better.

So, yeah, Armor-Piercing Ammo is a good power to get. I recommend beefing up Tech Armor before maxing out anything else. And team selection is important. Best suggestions I can give.

As a Sentinel you are not gonna have any problems.

Ok, so heres a question. Should I max throw, or overload? What's more useful? Throw is great against husk swarms I'm assuming, but other than that, every enemy will have shields...which is where overload would be great...but it would be useless against said husks.

On Insanity, throw is basically useless skill. Go for Overload.

As any class your going to have problems under insanity difficulty setting. Sentinel only gets good when you grab hard shields upgrade, ect....

I did everything a person could do, and still got murder like crazy during some parts. I have a lot of determination though.

Also, throw is not a useless skill, it can push a bunch of charging Krogan or melee kids back and unlike warp you don't have long to wait.

I did my insane level game with an Adept. As long as you can trick the YMIR mechs to stall out behind some crates, you can just lob warps over the obstacles, and keep them out of line of sight. Some missions like the Recover Eclipse stash mission you get from Aria for warning her about merc attack are difficult, but as long as you draw the YMIR's away from the crates and use your shuttle for cover, you can whittle 'em down without losing too many to destruction. Otherwise, only the timed missions are problematic.

I'm a few hours into a hardcore game with my engineer (first play through was a soldier on veteran), and that seems to be more than enough of a challenge for me.

I'm on the Mordin recruitment quest, and one of those long Vorcha/Krogan battles was pretty tough (I imagine those final ones in the mission will be even worse). My squad mates went down twice - admittedly mainly due to some bad positioning orders from me - so I ran out of medi-gel and was pretty much stuck spending several minutes spamming combat drone and reave and trying to kill regenerating enemies with those pea shooters that pass for (non assault/sniper rifle) guns early in the game before upgrades.

I've checked out some of the engineer videos, and the play styles there look very aggressive with a whole lot of running, gunning and meleeing. I was hoping to play a slower, more tatical game than I did with my soldier, but I guess I'm still just suffering from low level powers and ****ty weapons?

From my experience I've found that the engineer is the second most "up in their faces" class, after the vanguard naturally. Drone really messes with your opponent's targetting and gives you the opening you need to get in close and start throwing cryo blast around. Oh, and for that matter cryo blast is the hero of an engineer's abilities. You may be having a hard time if you've not been using it enough.

If you want a slower, more long range tactical game you may find the adept more to your tastes.

Its a weird one for me, I started a fresh ME1 import and I chose an Adept. It's meant to be hard but tbh I find it easier than if I were to use a soldier since you do not have to rely on weapons much. Just make sure you have singularity, warp and as a bonus power energy drain. And you should have Miranda in your squad at all times.

I'm about halfway trhough and it is really fun, not frustrating, as long as you take your time. Also I reccommend watch the videos made by a user named "Average Gatsby" which can be found on youtube and the Bioware forums. Watch them and they are perfect for an Adept insanity playthrough :)

I am on my first insanity play through as an infiltrator. its hard, but way more fun this way. i also really like having a sniper rifle this time around, that way i don't have to longshot with the heavy pistol.

Here's the build on my Insanity Sentinel. Mind you, he's only like 26 or something. Any additional points would go into getting Area Overload:

Throw (2)

Heavy Warp (4)

Overload (3)

Power Armor (4)

Guardian (4)

Tungsten Ammo (4)

I highly suggest working up to Heavy Warp and Guardian quickly. Warp is a bread and butter damage spell for you, and Guardian lets you use it every 3 seconds or so. Guardian also significantly reduces the recharge time on your Tech Armor.
