i like the viper and mantis. mantis more so.



i never had a problem chaining headshots w/ the viper in heightened a.rush with my soldier. i do not think the widow could put out anywhere near as much dmg as my viper with a string of headshots.

To me it seems like the Mantis is still superior compared to the Viper.

For the soldier I think the Viper is better because they have adrenalin burst so you can get off 3 shots off doing major damage to harbingers and other enemies which can't be one shotted by the Widow.



Also while using adrenalin burst you can kill one target and then switch to another and keep firing.

No, it's dlc so the only legit way to get it is to buy the digital delux pc version but the code can be used for the xbox also.

M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle: it can one shot just about any mook w/ warp ammo (at least on Hardcore) there for it's goood at reducing the amount of exposure and for an Infiltrator that's important.

I prefer the Widow since being able to oneshot enemies on insanity is priceless. for my soldier I prefer the viper since it seems to do godlike damage to armor with inferno rounds.

I went back and tried the Viper just to see if I was totally crazy, and I'm not. The Widow is better by far on Insanity. One-shotting Collectors through their barriers = win.

I like the Viper, bam bam bam. 3-5 head shots in a row before I have to duck for cover (insantity level), quite satisfying. I cannot one shot anything but it is fun.

The widow is functional, but ugly. Id rather use the viper then having Shepard carry a big brown chunk on his/her back.

My favorit sniper? The Widow. I just wish they wouldn't have implented the stupid ammo, I liked ME1 without Ammo and Overheat much more than this limited Ammo crap.



But anyway... i like the Widow because she packs a punch and its fun sniping with her. Much more than with the other two (those simply lack the punch). I mean the Viper is nice for its ammo, but thats where it ends. I mean no offense... but that Viper feels like an assault rifle in singlefire mode - and it packs as much punch as one.

1 shot from the Widow does more damage than 4 shots from the Viper.

Viper is better on lower difficulty for sure, as using a fully uppgraded widow on normal mobs there is plain overkill, on higher id say they are pretty even, more or less usefull for various build and according to preferences. /shrugs

The Widow 1 shots Collectors on Insanity, and if it doesn't one shot then they have next to no life left which a quick squadmate concussion shot will fix real fast.

I was dreading dealing with the 3 platforms of Collectors and the 2 Scions in the Collector ship b/c of all of the threads about how impossible this section is on Insanity. The Widow made it easy as pie. I killed 2 Collectors before one was even controlled by Harbinger. I even had to check to make sure it was still on insanity since it was such a breeze

Definitely prefer the Viper. Having a 12 round clip is awesomesauce.

the widow is far and beyond the best sniper. whats better then a one shot kill? i dont have a problem with the small ammo supply. you go through ammo just as fast with the viper as you do with the widow. 13 bullets, 13 kills. 60 bullets, about 10 kills, you might die while out of cover, most of your shots miss trying to fire to quickly, your mad you cant snipe someone with one bullet.......... thats what ive noticed with the two. one is a snipers rifle, the other is not.

I'd say the Widow is the superior sniper rifle (i'm not sure it's entirely fair to put it in a poll with the "normal" ones).

To be honest though, the Viper never felt like a "sniper rifle" to me it felt more like a "marksman rifle"; it seemed like it should fill a role similar to the SVD Dragunov, a squad-level marksman rifle meant to support troops from afar not a "one shot, one kill" sniper platform.

I don't have the incisor so I can't comment on it, how is it functionally different from the others?

Edit: In response to the best sniper for squadmates I find the Mantis to be the best, they don't seem to take advantage of the high rate of fire that the Viper has. They do better with potent slower firing weapons in my experience.
