It seems to me that ripping apart a space station with her mind demonstrates power whether or not the guards or mechs were trying to kill her. Yes, it was cut scene power, but last I checked, cut scenes in the game are about as canon as it gets.
Also, when she's insisting that she had it worse than the other kids in the lab, it came across to me as something she wasn't convinced of, but something she needed to tell herself due to not being able to handle the fact that kids died so she could live. Which seems pretty reasonable to me, especially since none of her defenses work very well against that, so all she had was denial.
But she never seemed that powerful in game, not once. And I can kind of agree with trying make herself believe she had it worse. She doesn't change the fact that she really handled everyhing in the worst way possile.
Well it would be a bit overpowered and mess up the gameplay if you could run around in game with Jack and Samara just laying waste to every enemy in sight like they are supposed to be able to do.
And there's no doubt that Jack handles a lot of things very poorly. But it's not that hard to see why she handles things the way she does with her background, even if we disagree with her choices being the best course of action.

I understand that, but at least make her specail on some accounts, and no I don't mean warp ammo. And choices to make sense, to an extent. Sure they make sense, but don't at all make for an enjoyable character, but that's just me. It was jjust too much. She was over the top in every possible category.
This is likely due to shortcoming of the game engine -- the station desctruction thing is made to look like it's effect of Jack's shockwave ability, but the game you get to play doesn't actually support destructible environments aside from occasional crate. Fairly sure they'd make her capable of really ripping through stuff and walls like she's supposed to if they could, otherwise.DeathCultArm wrote...

Yeah there really should've been something to demonstrate her powers, but it never resonated.

Reasons: bald, small breasts, gothic lipstick, basically naked, crappy tattoos, cliche, annoying, cold, randomly swears, fought with Miranda, etc.
Chidish, brash, non-chalent, overkill archtype, too easy to hate, the list goes on...
