For me, Jack is the best and deepest new NPC in the game.

Finally, a Jack hate thread! My reasons are pretty much up there in the OP. Her addition to my squad is nothing but a headache. Oh and the only reason I do her loyalty quest is to cover her up.
Now that that is out of the way, does anyone know of a way to get ONLY Jack killed in the final mission? I have succeeded in killing her before, but lost another 2 people with her. I reloaded and adjusted my choices, lost only 1 person but it was not her.
If you have a playthrough where only Jack died, post the details here!
She didn't did on my file, unfortunately. I actually tried to like her, and respect her as a charatcer...didn't work. Next time I will not get her loyalty, and send her theorugh the vents. That's how I killed Tali w/o killing anyone else.
Way ahead of you buddy! Unfortunately you cannot sent Jack through the tubes, she is not an option for that. I didn't have her loyalty, did not upgrade her, and she was still very difficult to kill.
I sent Jacob through the tubes to die. Then I had Jack do the biotic barrier - I thought this would kill her, but it killed Garrus instead. I left her behind at the door while I moved on, and that is where she died. The best part was that she threatened to kill me while fighting at the door, and after I was done I was treated to a screen with her body lying there and left behind.
So I reloaded and I had Samarra do the barrier instead - that worked and it saved Garrus, only this time Jack survived! Epic fail!

Have we played the same game? Literally half of ME2 is Shepard taking care of problems of all other team members because they're unable to get over their past on their own. You can't even progress with dialogue for them once they fall into that particular groove.DeathCultArm wrote...
I went deep than that. Her childish way, not being able to get over her past is another. Everyone on the Normandy had their own problems, yet she had to be continally babies to get any reaction ftom.
If that's "childish", your whole team is bunch of children to hate on. Except it's not actually childish, it's human. Childish would be to make threads on the intrawebs how one hates a fictional character because she has small breasts.
Human is having problems and dealing with them, all Jack did was ***** and expect to to treat her like a saint and cater to her like she was special. But whatever.. Every other sqaudmate, even grunt at least carries their own weight and doesn't act like they were such a victim. Jack just felt to sorry for herself, and was oviously jealous of Miranda and it was annoying.
Did you even try talking to Jack at all?
Because that never happened.
Like at all.

Shepherd saves her life. She shouldn've known right there and then, especially if you gave her the files, and did her loyalty mission. But I guess that's not enough. She was apart of the mission, ok Cerberus tortured, she knew Shepherd wasn't really apart of Cerberus. At lest Zaeed and Grunt wasn't being emo about everyhing.

Looks like you're stuck with her...too bad...lol. And yes, with Samara you should''ve had the option of leaving Jack behind...there was no need to have her.

This thread must make Casey Hudson happy. He's always saying anytime people hate on one of the characters, it means they've constructed a good one.
That's not entirely true. Casey said that any time there is both a lot of love and a lot of hate for a character, they've succeeded in writing a compelling character. I find his theory to be pretty accurate. If Jack wasn't a compelling character, there wouldn't be enough there to like or dislike her.

who's only purpose in the game would be to indulge some creepy sexual fantasy
(that is in fact the role of most female characters in video games
these days).
I did very much enjoy the trip to Purgatory to recruit her. Awesome mission, but I would have preferred a strong male character in her place. Perhaps a former militant/extremist who was doing time for unspeakable acts. A dangerous person that no one would ally with; except Cerberus.
But I hold no grudge to the people at BioWare for including her, because the game gave me all the proper tools to effectively loathe her.
1. I was able to leave her in a basement (the engineering room) where it was dark and lonely and she couldn't interract with the rest of my crew.
2. By completing her loyalty mission I could finally make her wear a shirt (I literally said, "Put a shirt on!" to my TV when I changed her outfit).
3. I wasn't forced to use her in any of the endgame conflicts (I used Samara to repel the seeker swarms). The only major part she played in MY Mass Effect, was being the only crewmember to die on the suicide mission.
Perfect first time playthrough as far as I'm concerned!

That's very true. While I would say that Jack is one of the weaker characters in ME2, she still wouldn't generate such an opposition if she didn't have an impact.

Yeah I guess after saving her life, giving her the files to the organizations you worked for, and doing her mission she should decide to you know....act civil. I did all that, and still just told me to stop pissing around, or something...

Plus getting her killed in the final mission is very tough, basically I have to throw away 2 people just to get rid of her. This has far more to do with game design than character writing.
I disagree entirely. What I hate most about Jack is that you are forced to recruit her. If she was stored on the Normandy in a Cryo tank and Shepard was given a choice, people would not hate her nearly as much.

Is there somewho who loves the character jack...seriously...?
I don't love her (because who can love a video game character, seriously), but I do think she was one of the better characters in the game.
But then again, I actually talked to her, and didn't judge her based off of the video.

Did you even read that?...Anyway...Again everyone there has their own problems. Thane has been killing since he was a teenager...Does he act like that? Hell, Zaeed was more personable than her. I'm not saying she had to be nice, but even when you showed actual interst in her, she went out of her way to to be combatative as possile, just ignoring everyhing around her, only thinking about herself.

Am I the only wondering why TIM would suggest her? Nothing about her suggests she is a team player, can follow orders, will not take the first opportunity to shoot you in the back. Her biotic abilities are not all that, and with Samarra in the picture you can hardly call her abilities unique.
Yeah, after some time talking with her and recruiting Samara, I was wondering what the hell TIM was thinking. Somehow I was expecting her to turn on me at some time, which was why I kept talking to her. I hoped I could get her to open and become a real friend. But she just kept ****ing around about her childhood. Like I said, the whole team has at least as bad or MORE severe problems. Take Thane: Created to be a soulles killing machine, finds his one love, who gets killed (and presumably tortured) and thus has to abandon his son, so he wouldn't become so screwed up and stay safe. Then he learns he is dying and there is no way around that AND his son is making the same mistake. Yes, Jack's childhood was ****ed up by any means, but at least after learning that so many children died, to keep her alive, she could take it a little better.
I think I'll romance her in the next playthrough, maybe she really becomes a better character then. Maybe the fact, that she es a deep character is just covered by not letting anyone befriend her (but romance her? Come on!)
