I feel sorry for the old man. Much contempt for Jacob.

The mission is a process of a self-righteous b*stard cursing his own dad and ridiculing the man's way of survival.

Maybe there is a paragon solution. Having Jacob's father kill himself was the worst moment I had playing the game.

Assuming this is a joke or an attempt at a flame war.

Nothing to see here, move along.

The "old man" in question took all the supplies for himself and his officers, leaving the other survivors to eat toxic food, eventually banished all other males in favor of establishing a juvenile fantasy life of having a personal harem-kingdom, complete with a statue of himself in their camp.

And you feel sorry for him? I would have shot him myself, had I been able to.

I thought it was awesome, making him shoot himself.

Even better his own flesh and blood gave him the gun.

Bioware has really good stories.

Um yeah, serial rapist megalomaniac is on my short list of people my Paragon would actually kill.

That said, I think you all missed the most fun option, which was letting him be ripped to shreds by those crazed hunters. Mmm, justice.

What Jacob's father did amounts to rape of minors in my understanding. Considering the fact 'garden variety' rape is in my opinion a bullet-to-the-face offense, you really don't want to know what I'd have done to him given the choice.

That pathetic waste of perfectly good oxygen deserves to burn.

Is that the middle option for leaving him on the hell he created? Does it happen straight away?

I ummed and ahhed about taking that on first playthrough, but as my renegade was a female, she just figured he was worth the ammo and I wasn't sure if Shep would mention getting the others off the planet who did deserve to be rescued.

Am going to take the OP comments as a joke, because seriously, what his dad did was seriously messed up and if you can't see that you have issues.

I did think it was dumb how Jacob was cursing his father the whole mission. At least wait to hear his side of the story

Yup, middle option. And it doesn't happen straight away.. You walk away from him and he's yelling at Jacob not to leave, while the vultures circle.. ::cackle::

Figures they make the black guy perform probably the darkest plot in the game. IN THE TROPICS.

I think it's one of the best loyalty missions.

If you choose to let his remaining crew handle him you can see a last glimpse of regret on him. I' normally good to him and send him into prison.

 yes... very appropriate choice.

@Medlish you kind of do if you choose the kill him option and it just suddenly dawned on me just now that of course that scene is to some extent rather similar to a certain scene in ME involving a major character.

I was overjoyed when I found the local KFC.  And, there is something to be said for juvenile fantasies.

Quoted for truth. If you even listened/bothered to read any of the logs and the dialogue, you'd see he's an inhumane nutter.

There is no "his side of the story" that is important. It was all in the datapad. Emergency signal was fixed ages ago, but it was never activated until now. He kicked out all the males for whatever reasons and had other officers killed within a week. Even if some details were missing why something happened, it was obvious right from the start what was going on. Even stuff he said through loudspeaker was sooo lame attempt to "cover his ass" as Jacob put it.

That said, even my Paragon Shepard chooses neutral option and leaves him to his fate.
