OK, what you call "survival" I call "barbarism." Maybe you hate Jacob so much that even his exploitation of the crew, murdering of the officers, and misuse of the women is forgivable. I don't know, but I can't understand the sympathy angle you're trying to push here at all.
My dislike of the mission itself has to do with the fact we learn nothing of Jacob other than his disgust for his father's actions. Once again, we never really learn who Jacob is. Some parts of his past come up but that is all. Very disappointing.
