Yea wateva, one sword and one dagger :pinched: both his weapons. Weirdly enough, you have his SHIELD too. Even thought he is a rogue?

you never actually see Duncan die or recover his corpse so his death is not confirmed. Hopefully he returns and kills your and morrigan's demon child.

You never actually see Riordan's death too... Who knows if he was lucky to fall on a junk truck passing by and saving his life?

...And no one ever really says "Riordan is dead! So sad."

I guess it was a junk truck. Lucky bastard.

Morrigan and duncan mentions about the darkspawn taking bodys of the fallen, what they do with the bodys is not known i think they carry out their own "ritual" and creates a darkspawn from the body so my money is on duncans alive but not human no more!

i think you are close, but I don't think its Duncan.

"Now, there are rumors that a fellow survivor of the battle has escaped from captivity and is seeking the Grey Wardens' help. The time has come for the Grey Wardens to make their return to Ostagar and exact their revenge upon the darkspawn."

also on that page you see a new kind of picture of king cailan. I darker and more menacing version, with a bloodlust on revenge?

"the darkspawn and their archdemon master–these were threats worthy of a soon-to-be legendary king."

well dying at ostagar didn't exactly make him a legendary king so my bet is that he's back in black!!!!!

Has anyone considered that the tidbits we see in the trailers - "So you are the Commander of the Grey Wardens..." "I will be leaving you to the CHILDREN" - may be related to Duncan's predicament rather than foreshadowing a future problem for the PC? I mean, Duncan WAS the Commander... Those bits we were shown, I could easily imagine them being part of a sort of "What happened to Duncan" POV cutscene....

Really you think there's no prove that he is dead? Check the Codex on Duncan it clearly states "He was slayed at the battle of Ostagar" are you calling the ingame Codex a liar?

The in-game codex lies about many things, such as Duncan's parents and where he is from (unless of course, The Calling is incorrect).

Mmm, I have a feeling he's still alive (in some form or another), especially after reading the Calling and because of some comments Alistiar makes about him.

You never actually see him die and no body is found. It just kind of seems fishy...

If Duncan doesn't survive, we will need to find someone who knows the recipe for the joining in order to rebuild the Grey Wardens.

Wouldn't Duncan be on his last legs. I thought he was almost the age Gray Wardens head off to the Deap Roads for a glorious death.

I always thought he was alive and turn out to be the evil mastermind behind it all because he seemed like an evil bastard to me.

I would think that the temptation to write a quest or storyline involving a corrupt or changing Duncan would be too great to resisit...

Your "evil mentor/predecessor" is simply too rife with potential. His death has total B-movie comeback potential.

That being said, who here would actually *prefer* his armor rather than any other thing from him... I would be happy that he stays dead... as long as we could get that cool suit...

Yes... I know it is a PC mod...

it would be interesting to see him again, maybe he is that talking darkspawn you see in one of the trailers, oh la-la.

I would say this is all Bioware hedging their bets. In the end, I would encourage anyone with enough interest in this to read The Calling, as I think there will be a certain amount of crossover. If nothing else, the main villain of Awakenings is the main villain of the calling, so I would be pretty shocked if there weren't some tie ins. Haven't read all these threads, but the book also suggests what I am guessing will be one of the warrior specializations in the character of Utha, the Silent Sister.

After you were being rescued from the Tower of Ishal, you get a piece of conversation about what happened to the survivors there and Morrigan mentioned some of them are being dragged underground. In Return to Ostagar you get recover his weapons, yes, but not his body. In the new trailer for Awakening you get to venture into the Deep Roads once more, perhaps to rescue Duncan?

I feel pretty confident, That Duncan has been turned into the same thing, that Bregan, Genevieve and Utha. where turned into by the Architect in The Calling.
Either that. or he is being held captive in the hopes of making him into such a thing.
And we have to keep in mind that Duncan was at the final stages of corruption at the time of his death.
No matter what has happened to him, if he is alive. his time is limited.

*SPOILERS*

Funny thing I noticed today on a play through. The Urn of Sacred Ashes quest line basically winds up with you undergoing a trial, right? Take Alistair with you if you haven't already, and listen to what the Guardian says. He asks Alistair if he wishes he had shielded Duncan from "the killing blow".

I don't know how the Guardian finds out about your past (whether it's through some form of connection to the Fade or possibly he could see into your mind), but it's can be taken two ways.

If he's reading Alistair's thoughts, then it could be a false implication. The Guardian may not actually know any better than Alistair himself, and just uses his knowledge to ask a question. It would also explain how he knows what happens to any Dwarf, as they cannot 'naturally' connect to the Fade, and the only connection is the Circle Tower, which may not have been done at that point.

If he's tapping into the Fade, it's highly likely he would know of Duncan's passing through the Fade into the afterlife - That is presuming the Chantry is right.

I'm all out of other explanations...

Duncan would have made sure he died. He knows what the darkspawn would have had in store for him if he was taken capture. Also, he knew he only had a few years left and went out like a champ. Just by examining Duncan's personality, you know he is dead.

This has probably been said, but think- DARKSPAWN DUNCAN? That would be entertaining on several levels.

THAT would be creepy. Especially if you'd like to think Duncan did survive Ostagar and consider he's at the age at which point as a Grey Warden... he does go down to the Deep Roads for one final battle with some darkspawn; and then... something did happen to form some spooky darkspawn-Duncan.

Interesting, nonetheless, but I wouldn't want that to actually happen. :D
