the taint eventually turns the grey wardens into darkspawn if they don't die.

I wonder, has any Warden actually become a darkspawn? Maybe that's why the one in the trailer is able to speak. Maybe that was the Doughnut master himself. Hoo, I'm getting chills.

I thought they just become mindless servants to them; I didn't know they actually became them fully.

-spoilers-

nope they still have their minds, well sort of the taint starts to take a toll on their mentality.but the book doesn't show a natural progression but a rushed one that the Arch does.and they weren't servants of the Arch but more of  a kind of partnership.working towards a goal to end the war between darkspawn and the humanoids.Image IPB

Uhh Duncan's head was cut off.....he is dead

Obviously no one watches closely enough after Duncan looks over his shoulder he turns back and The Hurlock chops off his head in FP (Sword Slash, blood splater) I never really started to like Duncan he seemed very expendable I guess there was not enough time to get to know him. I liked the First Archmage guy better when I used my mage for a short time.

It would seem that Duncan is being spotted in various places spanning the entire globe, even more so than Elvis.

Personally I would much rather see Duncan than Elvis.  I approve of this fun fact.

Duncan's not dead. Too big a plot hook. Go look at the Dragon Age wiki and look up The Architect.

Once you read that page you'll have a pretty good idea of what happened. They just made it look like Duncan died, but never actually showed his death. Why not, when they were completely OK with Cailan getting crushed like a beer can and tossed like a broken toy?

And where were the rest of the Grey Wardens in that battle? No one showed up to bury them, the PC is the first one to return to Ostagar after the battle. Like I said, read up on the Architect and you will understand. The Darkspawn do not prefer to kill Wardens. They prefer to KO them and drag them away. It's in the f---ing lore. To ignore it is to embrace ignorance.

So believe he's dead if you want... You will inevitable be proven wrong, however.

any thing can be speculated, but its obivious that bioware had something planned for him. I don't think we've seen the last of him. You pretty much state it in your comment plus, it flashed before the darkspawn struck. If bio wanted him dead, we would have seen a body like Nilus in ME.

After you were being rescued from the Tower of Ishal, you get a piece of conversation about what happened to the survivors there and Morrigan mentioned some of them are being dragged underground. In Return to Ostagar you get recover his weapons, yes, but not his body. In the new trailer for Awakening you get to venture into the Deep Roads once more, perhaps to rescue Duncan?

The reason there were no bodies is because the Darkspawn eat everyone they kill... Hes Ogre chow.

Then we'll see, though something unresolved or left up in the air like that, there is something going.

no I only recovered one dagger, and one sword, but not two daggers.

in the end, there can be only one

Yea wateva, one sword and one dagger :pinched: both his weapons. Weirdly enough, you have his SHIELD too. Even thought he is a rogue?

In DA, rogues can use shields and warriors can dual wield.

I played RtO last night finally. I did recover a dagger but nothing indicates it was the same dagger he swiped from Remille. But then again, if he had THAT dagger with him, he would have been using it against the darkspawn. Meh, there goes my theory.

I really hope so, it would be awesome to have him on the party, the dialogue and lore would be of great valor and he in the DAO are a very "mistique" character, somehow ( in my fist game) i always hoped he would appear again( he in the fade dont count ok ?Image IPB)

What? Duncan in the party? Oh, please. The bloody darkspawn would just turn around and retire should this happen. We all know he's now enjoying the sun somewhere on a remote beach of Antiva, with a lot of ladies around him...

Duncan just reminds me of the Dos Equis – Most Interesting Man in the World"He once had an awkward moment just to see how it feels."

I hope he's an enemy. Despite having a fairly epic beard I never really liked Duncan. Maybe I could cut his beard off and wear it around my neck, my PC would be declared emperor of Thedas instantly.

Duncan can be alive, when you play the Dalish original story he says that you might get a chance to rescue him back someday.

If they decide to bring duncan back and let him be in your party 1. by that time you will have more experience through out all of the lore compaired to duncan 2. He's the kinda guy who would be like "You earned you place as the rightful warden commander of fereldin, but first you should know 'In war, victory In peace, vigilance In death, sacrifice' " and then you go to fereldin and tell alister what happens and he cries. =(

Well there was no one alive around him to save him before the final blow just because they dont prefer doesnt mean they wont do it. I prefer Xbox but I will play a PS3 or Wii. History contains many lies its up to you to decipher them. Maybe I need to show the cutscene  clearly he is dead or missing a head he was about to die anyway because of the wound in his torso he would have died even if the darkspawn left them. Or maybe the Architect was talking to Duncan when he said "So your the commander of the Grey Wardens, I will leave you to the children" Obvbiously a wounded man with some sort of Axe injury including one in the stoumach fighting those monsterous things would kill them
