I completed the game and saved my crew. Alright.. now for the big question.. Where's that infamous proposal from Kelly??? I got Tali as a love-interest, but official sources say, and i quote: "Kelly is a potential romance option for both a male and female Shepard. However, she is only a partial romance option as she does not grant the Paramour achievement, and does not affect any relationship Shepard might have, whether it be with their current squad member or love interest from Mass Effect. The six main romance options will not begin a romance with you if you are in a romance with another character."

So.. what? I can't get Kelly because I got the Paramour-achievment in a previous save? (which i deleted, by the way)

No, you can only get Kelly to come to your room if you haven't romanced anyone else. She's like a consolation prize.

OH! ^^ that's gotta smart! ... well then I wonder about Ashley and that "Acting unfaithfully is expected to have negative consequences for the relationship in Mass Effect 3"-thing? ... does Kelly count as a true romance?

Haha, she still won't offer to come up to my room, or even feed my fish. I get the feeling that you have to be friendly and not formal from the very first convo with her otherwise you can "flag" the romance option to be disabled from an early stage.

Don't think so, only way to tell would be to see if your 'picture' gets knocked down after inviting kelly up.

I have a question regarding the kelly unlock thing. My first playthrough I did all the right moves to unlock it, had the dinner line, had the fish line, didn't romance anyone though came close with Garrus but didn't select the line that pushes it forward, Thane I got to the part where he calls Shep Siha but this was just before the suicide mission and he died during the ship ride. Continued after the main event, done what I believe is the only mission I had remaining visited a few of the main planets and still no email from Kelly to prompt the captains quarters invite. Is there a certain criteria/time pass before it arrives?

@Akimb0 you are correct, you choose to refuse to call her Kelly and that seems to divert any chance of flirting because after I did that, I did the investigate speech about being happy and didn't get the "We won't" option which leads to the "I'd embrace you" option which I believe is the unlock kelly romance line.

If you manage to get her up to your room for dinner, and then her offer to feed your fish, the only thing left is to read the message she sends you on your private terminal, then you can get the option to invite her to your room. Not sure if there are other triggers, but this was what worked for me.

Ah right, if you're already in a relationship, you can break up with whomever you're with and you'll get the message from her right away. Tested it myself. Not sure how it'll go if the person you're romancing dies in the suicide mission though.

Unfortunately I don't think you can actually do the "Bow chicka Bow Wow" with her, as when she said she would feed my fish I thought it was some sort of euphamism, although she will just literally feed your fish.

You should be able to invite Kelly up for dinner after a while. I believe the final invite only comes post-ending once you've rescued her from the Collectors and you play again post-end. Kind of like how you'll tend to get most of Legion's dialogue post final mission/post credits.

Yeah I got the feed fish line but no message after saving her after the final mission so part of me wonders if need to visit x amt of places or do x amt of missions before it unlocks? Anyone know if there are any missions that unlock after the final mission, I read somewhere that there is one (unless the captains quarters funtime with romance is considered it )

Edit: Arrtis what do you mean by paragon option there is no blue/red ones in kelly conversations.

Blegh, I still get that option, but she doesn't seem to want anything more than that. Damn it, feed my fish for me! The galaxy depends on it!

@Sir Ulrich: If you weren't romancing any other male when Thane started calling you siha, you might have triggered his romance. If the person you're romancing with dies in the final mission, it might be flagged as a permanent romance since you cannot break up with them. Thus no Kelly.



Just a theory, not sure how right I am.

Yeah, i'm a little annoyed about that too. Although i usually tend to go paragon, i think there should be love interests who are just as turned on by you being a bad-ass, and doesn't find paragon-choices atractive. Like, for instance, an evil-minded killer Morinth-style or a psycopath like Jack (without the whole need for us to turn her to paragon-like ways before getting to be with her)

My celebate femShep managed only to dine with her. But what really pissed me off was all my fish died when she went on her Collector vacation. Wonder if that Krogan is still interested...

Yeah I wondered if this is the cause too.

Thankfully due to Kasumi possibly being available soon and due to a mess up I made earlier on in the game (before the suicide mission) am going to look for one of my old saves and try to get to that line with Thane earlier so I can then get my femshep to tell him that I want to keep it professional.

Kelly still won't get a look in though because am also going to fix the mess I made of the Garrus romance (one of the things am going back to fix)

Suicide mission will probably play out the same way albeit it might have one more casualty as well because I didn't realise that you needed 7 of the main squad members to unlock the collector ship mission and so ended up doing most of the N7 missions before realising this and activating Grunt's lifepod, I then had to do his loyalty quest as one of my missions to unlock the Normandy abduction event. My renegade femshep don't like Krogans, but as he on board she'll just use and abuse him hehe

You call her from your room afterwards. The intercom is between your Personal Stuff and the Achievements up in your cabin.

I've just finished the main game, & chosen to continue, & haven't had a message from Kelly enabling me to invite her up



Once the game started again after the credits, I went to the CIC & Kelly actually said I had a message... but there was nothing there. I talked to her about the abduction, & had a chance to ask if she was OK, but there was no further flirting or anything.



I flirted with her at every given opportunity, right from the start with the "embrace" option; told her Thane wasn't my FemShep's type & invited her to dinner, & then accepted her offer to feed my fish; asked for a hug after the Collector Ship; told her after recruiting Samara that I didn't recruit Samara for her looks as I had Kelly for that; etc.



I don't remember there being any flirt dialogue options though when talking to Kelly after recruiting Tali or Legion, which confused me as I hadn't shot her down earlier & hadn't been romancing anyone else.



My Shepard wasn't romancing any other characters (staying faithful to Liara), & I didn't flirt with any team members - always chose the non-flirt dialogue option.



So why no message from Kelly after completion? Do you need to wait, or should it arrive straight away?

Is it just me or is Shepard's hugely ponderous "flirting" with Kelly more like borderline sexual harassment from a boss to an employee?
