Ok I dont like Tali that much, and i dont understand the insane obsession with her BUT seeing Bioware listens to its fans to an extent generally unseen in other developers, I want some help with the suicide mission and aftermath.
Tali died in mine. Shot by random collector when trying to shut the doors after leading the diversion team.
Legion also died after trying to shut the doors following Specialist pipes mission.

What do I do? I have a feeling Tali will be important in ME3 due to aforementioned reason. Many Tali fans = Tali important in sequel.

If i redo the suicide mission and make Tali survive, will it "override" or whatever my current exported Sheperd?
Don't want to do the suicide mission again to find Tali is still dead because ive already made my choice.
halp!

Who is your Team fireteam leader, if isn't Jacob, Miranda, or Garrus and they are not loyal that is why.

Is Tali loyal as well?

You will just have another save file for when you want to export it to ME3. If you just mean restart the mission and all your squad isn't loyal already, then there's not much you can do besides reload a save beforehand and make everyone loyal.

in ME2 all the clear data is tied to individual game save block, not a hidden global save like it was in ME1

so the import in ME3 will be an import from the MOST RECENT save?

my whole team was loyal.

I can't exactly comment but yeah I think so, who was the Fireteam 1 Leader?

No, I believe you will be able to import ANY post-main mission save.

recruit everyone, do all loyalty missions, 1st part of suicide mission choose legion to go in shaft, miranda to lead second team. 2nd part choose samara for biotic specialist, Garis to lead 2nd team, and Zaeed to lead surviving crew back to normandy. Last part take Tali and Miranda with you and have everyone else stay as back team. Very important once you have the conversation to go save the crew after the reaper if thing do the suicide mission and you can not only save your team but all the crew as well.

Tali is not a team leader, she is an engineer. That is why you got her killed.

Sharks, that's the "Hold the line" issue. To maximise your chances of having everyone survive holding at the door, you need to leave infantry like Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed, apparently Legion too. If you don't leave enough firepower to hold back the collectors, companions start dying. Mordin is the first, I believe, but Tali is close behind.

It's also a good idea to send your squishiest companion back with Doc Hacksaw to the Normandy and keep them out of it.

Make Samara the first team leader then put Tali in the tunnels. Instant death.

as long as you don't take more than 1 of the 3 big hitters (Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt) you can take anyone you want, as long as they're loyal.

by any chance do you actually finish the suicide mission to see if they're dead or not?

Because when i left garrus, in the cutscene to see how the ground team is holding up, i saw garrus get shot and fall over. But when i got back to the ship, garrus was actually alive, much to my surprise.  Same thing with legion, he got shot and fell over, but when i got back to the ship he was actually alive. I think it may be a glitch.
