DISGUSTED with BioWare and EA (cannot import ME1 characters)

I have an open support ticket for 11 days now at EA with no replies to the multiple postings I've made.
I have several messages in these forums.
There is NO SUPPORT from BioWare or EA on Mass Effect 2, plain and simple. I'm not the only one reporting that ME1 characters will not import for me. NO ONE is replying, NO ONE is saying ANYTHING. Sad.
Great games in general, but when you can't enjoy them the way they were advertised, that, in my opinion, is deceptive advertising. I suffered through ME1 Platinum Hits Editions problems (not playing Pinnacle Station until I unloaded the first addon and started a brand new character), and now I have to use a brand new character in ME2.
Very sad, and unacceptable. Hiding behind a virtual wall with no phone number (that actually answers *cough*EA*cough*) and no email address and a ticket system that is being IGNORE (*cough*EA*cough*) is pathetic. I've waited over a week -- that's a week too long, for at LEAST A REPLY that it's being looked into, and an estimated TIMELINE.

I have been royally screwed by being enticed into Mass Effect's universe via the Platinum Hits edition. :-(

Nvm. Are they on the same console you used to play ME1? I remember a thread from the old boards about saves being transferrable if you use the same console for both games.

1. I completed the game with FOUR different characters. *COMPLETE*
2. I ran ME2.. I selected NEW game, I selected IMPORT UTILITY...
3. The Import Utility shows NO characters at all.
They are stored on an HD (the same one I've had for quite some time). I tried copying them to a Memory Unit for the he77 of it... no go. I see no missed steps here. :-( I've even gone back into ME1 and short of actually COMPLETING THE SARAN BATTLE again on one of my characters, they all load fine in ME1.

The ME2 launcher Setup Tool has a button labeled "Copy ME1 Save Games". Use that.

Same console, same HE, same XBox account. :-/

you have to import them with the same account you created them on. sounds like you're trying to import them from other xboxes. won't work.
Not importing from anything other than "same console, same XBox account, etc etc" :-/

Explaing better...i didnt get any error at importing them..remember you have to use the mass effect launcher and import them from there.
That's what I'm doing. You *seem* to imply that people have tried something else...? Maybe just trying the "Load" option or something? No. Import Utility, clearly....

No idea if you can access the Xbox HD to copy files (never bothered to try) but if you can you might want to poke around with that.
Probably not going to help you but I figured I'd just throw that out there.

That *used* to work for me, now it doesn't. Odd.Ingahootz wrote...
I have no idea whether or not this will help you but in the PC version I didn't see my characters in the import tool either. I had to find my ME1 saves and copy them over to the ME2 directory under ME1 saves. Then the import shows up. I just assumed that this is how the PC version worked.

But that's not the main point.
There was a thread about this same problem about week ago. I remember that one things to try was to load your savegame (the finished one), save it again and then try importing in ME2. This is what I remember from the thread. Not sure if it works but give it a shot.

so if you are using that account, then you can import that save
if you are using an account with no ME1 save that beat the game then you can't import it yet
if you are using an account that has never played ME1 then of course you can't import a save since there arent any
but saves AREN'T shared across all accounts

(I will be posting this under a new thread as well so more can find it)
Situation:
Cannot import ME1 characters into ME2 (XBox 360)
Details:
ME1 was "Platinum Hits Edition" which included Addon 1 "Bring Down The Sky" -- you could not install a downloaded copy of Addon 2 "Pinnacle Station" in this version and play it -- you had to uninstall Addon 1, then start a brand new character to see Pinnacle Station.
The last time I played ME1, I had Addon 1 offline, and Addon 2 installed, with 2 new characters that only existed to play that addon.
When I ran ME2, it did not find any of my 4 completed characters. All 4 characters completed the game with Addon 1 installed.
During my trial-and-error attempts at getting them imported, at one point I REINSTALLED Addon 1, so that I could actually play my four completed characters again (you cannot play them if an Addon you visited is not installed).
As soon as I completed the game again on my first character, I noticed it claimed I unlocked a Gamer Picture (which I already had, but possibly had DELETED from my HD since then).
After this, I went back into ME2, and voila!! My character that I'd just re-finished, with Addon 1 reinstalled, was VISIBLE to the Import Utility! I have imported her and begun my game with her as should have happened on day 1.
SUMMARY:
If you cannot see your characters from ME1 inside the ME2 import utility, make sure any addons for ME1 are installed. If you still cannot see them, finish the game again after making sure the addon(s) is/are installed, and then check the import utility again.
This is THE only thing that worked for me. I'm content, at least, that "all I have to do" to get my other 3 characters into the game will be do run the final showdown again on each one.

I think the most annoying part in actuality when doing that is you have to sit through all the cutscenes..There's like 35 minutes of movie and 5 minutes of actual game play during that thing.
