What are some of the things that you're characters have done in game that made you feel really bad personally?
Mine is easily telling Owen that I didn't find his daughter. I just wanted to get that sweet bow that his replacement carries. I didn't realize he was going to hang himself. I felt so guilty that I let a man die just because I wanted a piece of equipment.Posted Image
Also, I felt pretty bad when I helped the Werewolves slaughter the Dalish tribe. In the end, I couldn't leave it like that so I loaded an earlier save and worked it out peacefully.
That's how I know this game is so great; it makes me have real, emotional reactions to the events.

My husband killed Ruck last night. He didn't feel bad, but I did! I never kill Ruck, not after he calls my PC "pretty lady" !!

I felt kinda bad after sending Alistair to the executioner, but sacrifices must be made for a strong Ferelden.

My character has a pretty clean record overall. My only real regret is that I somehow missed the pickup for "Last Will and Testament", so I couldn't give Jetta the lockbox when I got to Redcliffe. Felt a little bad about that.

Not boinking Cammen's sweetheart the first time around. He was happy, the bastard, until I came and slaughtered them that is. Good times.

Otherwise, sending away Alastair.

Worst moment for me was not fighting for Redcliff. Wow.

I initially took the money in the city elf origin but found I just couldn't carry on with the guilt and had to start over.

I killed Connor for the first time last night and was devastated for about an hour, even after reloading and choosing to go to the Circle for help. The conversation you have with him where he basically says that he's willing to die if it means no one else gets hurt was just utterly heartbreaking.

Killing Connor. He was so very dignified and resigned about it.

Reloaded, and accepted Isolde's sacrifice instead. It's the least she could do for instigating the death of so many people.

Not figuring out until reading the forums, long after completing Redcliffe, that there was a way to avoid having to kill Connor or Isolde.

Of course, I got to kill Isolde, so there's not too much regret there.

Come to think of it, my biggest regret is that the mage tower option actually exists. I ignore it in my game and never chose any dialogue options that refer to it.

Isolde is to blame for the horror, terror, murder and mayhem amongst those she is obligated to protect as the arlessa.

Connor has become an abomination, and your regular run-in-the-mill mages are killed for far less. Even Teagan and Alistair (who, for some unexplained reason explodes into the PCs face if she dared to follow his advice) recommend killing Connor.

Isolde will never, ever get the 'happily ever after' solution. She does not deserve it. She needs to pay the price for her choices, and in my plays she ends up a hero, sacrificing herself for her son.

Howe massacres my HN's family. Isolde does nothing less by tearing apart families under her care and exposes the village and the castle to unspeakable horror.

I do understand her motivations, but her actions are quite vile.

accidentally hitting esc at the wrong time and ending up with Mabari named 'dog'.

Totally ruined it for me and I uninstalled everything out of sheer despair.

j/k - I put off Shale's personal quest to make a loot sell / equip upgrade run and forgot to go back to it until after I set Landsmeet in motion. Felt like kind of a Richard head for that move...

my biggest regret?

killing conner

the only worthwhile part of that section was getting to punch Isolde in the face and conner didnt deserve to die because of his mothers actions (not that my dwarf noble cared he was a bastard)

On the other hand, now every time Connor does any normal little boy misbehaving thing, she's secretly thinking to herself, 'OMG is he posessed again?' and probably ends up killing him in his sleep 'Just to be sure'...:?:crying:

Personally I think there should have been an option to keep healing and killing him, if you have a mage in tha party.

Since I just did a sacrificial playthrough and romanced Leliana, I felt a bit like a turd forcing her into mourning and being responsible for her despair, since I would deny Morrigan her Ritual at all costs just to tell her she was a hateful b!+ch. It was a steep price.

But, in the end, I suppose we were reunited in death, so maybe I have no regrets after all and have led an enviable life as Sten would say.

I've managed to avoid choices that would lead to big regrets, but there's still the unavoidable ones. I regret that things work out so poorly for the dwarves (although I'm sure there's a future plot reason for that given that it's unavoidable), and I regret having to kill all the dragon young in the sacred urn quest. Since my first couple of playthrough, I minimize it as much as possible.

I regret bringing the chantry to the dwarves. At the time I was hoping it would be some way to improve the casteless lives.... oops.

On my third playthrough with a Dalish elf archer I wanted the bow Far Song from Owen's replacement so I intentionally failed the quest to find his daughter. It was just horrible to see how devastating it was for him.

Then to compound my despair over the whole thing once I had the money to buy the bow I found out that for various game mechanic reasons (the primary one being that it was a longbow rather than a shortbow, I think) it didn't improve my archer's combat performance at all.

I hated that too. I was having trouble getting the Traveler Achievement, so I thought I had to open the Dwarven Chantry to do. I despised doing it though. I have huge issues with "missionary" work that undermines the values and customs of native peoples in exchange for food, medicine, and education. It's like, "here's some bread, oh and everything you believe in is crap."

Making the deal with the demon when "saving" Connor. It wasn't out of character at all, but that one felt super nasty; I think because no one ever knows but you, and you still get hailed as a hero for it.

My first playthrough I wanted blood magic so I made the deal with the desire demon.  My thought process, Connor would go to the tower and get some training, and when the desire demon came back for her prize, either he'd have the strength to face her on his own, or failing that, he'd be in the mage tower where the templars would quickly dispatch him.

When I finished the game and you learn that he disappears in the night a few weeks after you save Ferelden, before he can be sent to the tower, and his mother and father search for him for years before finally giving up hope - I felt like the worst kind of bastard.
