1. Awful team mates AI, weather you tell them to go to cover or not they always get them selves killed.
2. Some side missions no matter what you do are just impossible example saving the cargo.
3. Even some parts of the campaign are near impossible (IFF)
4. There is no checkpoint system , honestly there is nothing worse going through hard section that took you 20min and die at end and having to repeat.
5. There is just not enough ammo, on numerous occasions i have run out of ammo the bullet to damage ration is incredibly close.
I understand that we don’t have to play the insane difficulty but I like to challenge myself however this is just a joke when compared to hard difficulty on %90 of games these days please guys if you agree with me please say on this and maybe bioware will patch it thank you

2. Untrue. I saved the cargo.
3. Untrue. IFF is actually very easy.
4. Quick save is your friend.
5. I had plenty of ammo. Rarely ever ran out.
I've made a thread called "Insanity mode is too easy" and I stand by it 100%. Instead of complaining about its difficulty, ask for help instead. Maybe we can change this thread into helping you with certain areas of insanity (parts you're having trouble with).
What class are you playing?

Armor: Hand Cannon, any sniper rifle, any assault rifle except the geth pulse; Warp, Incinerate, Incendiary Ammo, Reave
Shields: SMG, assault rifles, shotguns (only if they're practically right next to you); Overload, Energy Drain, Disruptor Ammo
Barrier: SMG, assault rifles, shotguns (again, they'd better be right next to you); Warp, Reave, Warp Ammo
Beyond these basic truths, you need to focus fire enemies, use crowd control powers like Pull or Reave on enemies who have been rendered defenseless to avoid wasting clips, and take cover A LOT.

To be honest ive been having a bit of trouble with it too. I had no problem finishing gears of war 1 and 2 on insanity or the Halo games on legendary. But im finding ME2 to be harder than both of those. I expect it will even itself out once I start picking up upgrades though. Its hard to use your team mates powers when they refuse to stay on their feet.
Your last point is the main reason I just let them die and solo'd most of the game. Sometimes I'll have a full medi-gel pack and won't even bother to res them. Feels like I'm wasting a cool down. I find beating Insanity a lot easier when you stop caring about what your teams are doing (or not doing).

well you guys are probebly most likely playing as infltartor or sentinal and i have played all my shooters on the hardest difficulty and i have been a gamer for about 19 years and honstly this is one of the most frustarting one the point is i want to play on highest difficulty and because its called insane doesnt have to be cheap and frustarting and i am sorry but i have 20 people on my friend list who are also experinced gamers who are strugling through this difficulty so i am sorry but if you saying its easy you are chating rubbish or you are cheating and quick save doesnt work until the battle is over which can last for a while and just reminder i am on a counsle so PC version might be different.
I've beaten Insanity as an Adept. It's really not that difficult. Just tell us the parts you're having trouble with and maybe we can help.

I used to play NES games too. Beat those games on the hardest setting as well.
What parts of the game are you having trouble with? Would be easier to help you if you just said exactly where you're having trouble.

Insanity lives up to its namesake, in my opinion. If you can't handle it, you're probably just not adapting well enough to the rules of the game. You have to use the right guns and powers for the job, which basically means that if you're using the shotgun, you're already doing it wrong in most instances.

Yeah ive started doing that too. Im playing as a soldier and didnt put many points into disruptor ammo because I figured Miranda's overload would take care of shields, I'm thinking I need to redistribute my points a bit. To be fair theres times they have been a help, but the majority of the time they just seem to be suicidal. Its not often I have trouble with a game so its taken me a bit by surprise, I can see where the OP is coming from, but Im enjoying the challenge for the most part. Can be frustrating though.

Would be pretty cool if they added a couple of special ops type missions. Never ending collector/geth swarms or whatever, see how far you get etc.

Let me start by saying that I am a huge mass effect fan and I am an experienced gamer but by far mass effect 2 insanity difficulty is the most frustrating and unbelievably difficult games I have ever played this is because of.
1. Awful team mates AI, weather you tell them to go to cover or not they always get them selves killed.
2. Some side missions no matter what you do are just impossible example saving the cargo.
3. Even some parts of the campaign are near impossible (IFF)

For starters, they aren't going to change it. They made it basically insane, which as another poster mentioned is pretty much the point. ME1 was too easy on Insanity, and this time around they decided to make it quite a bit tougher.
Now, it also depends on your class. Supposedly Infiltrator is the easiest, with Vanguard and Adept being the hardest, but I've just played with the "middle" classes in this regard, Engineer and Sentinel, so all I can do is give my two cents...
1. Yes, they get themselves killed. My advice is to always put them in places yourself, i.e. don't expect them to stay in a place that they found on their own. If I see one of them has already taken a decent cover point, I will set the arrow right on their location to help make them stay there. This usually works.
2. Which side missions?
3. Which part?
4. Yes, this can be really frustrating, but there aren't too many places like that.
5. Which class are you? I do most of my damage on Insanity via my powers, and haven't found ammo to be an issue (although there are certainly times when I wish I had more heavy ammo).
I agree that it is quite hard on Insanity, or at the very least ridiculously tedious. I've played a lot of tac shooters (GR1>GRAW), and this game is more tactical than most of those that I've played. You really have to choose your positioning and attacks carefully, or you'll get killed in like 3 seconds flat. You also have to know the right time to advance...
Some people say not to worry about your squad mates, but I find that keeping them alive (or reviving them at key moments) really helps me to maintain offense and wear down opponents before they can flank you or get too close. My best advice is to pick a squad that has enough offensive powers to deal with the different defenses. Miranda is a great choice, since she has Warp and Overload, and then your fighter-types like Zaeed and Garrus are very good too, since they can deal with enemy defenses well (I prefer Zaeed... his Inferno Grenade has saved my ass many times). Thane also looks good, since he has Warp, but I haven't really used him yet.

Honestly you really don't need disruptor ammo or overload. If you have access to AP ammo, it's arguably the best ammo in the game. Most shields go down really fast regardless of what ammo you use so it's usually a non-issue.
Look i am going through the game but its really annoying and
frustrating and stop ****ing if I cant handle it i should change the
difficulaty thats not the point the point is if an experinced gamer
like me and my friends are struggling with it there is a problem most
of you guys are playing on PC and considering i use to be PC gamer i
know it plays better. I have had so frustrating moments on this
difficulty that never had before and after spending 25 hours i am not
just gona give up.
So... what parts are you having problems with?
