You can use the same strategy as the crab against ymir mechs, for them boxes are your friends. Use your Heavy Pistol with warp ammo on it, throw warp at something right after it hit fire a few shots into it, as well as there is a 1.2 sec delay between the mech using machine guns and rockets so shoot when this delay occurs, also upgrade to assault armor for the suicide mission and you can run through the heat exchangers without firing a shot, very fun.

Note for the Heat exchanger: You will get a checkpoint for every two exchangers hit essentially, but by using assault armor with the 20% cooldown upgrade when they get rid off the armor you be rest to 75% shields, and then right as they get that down your armor should be ready to go, but you must storm as well or you won't be able to this off.

Yeah, well, I guess you have to have Warp Ammo to start off with to even try that.

As for the heat exchange, my shield would get depleted much too fast and I was forever hiding behind cover just to restore some basic health

First off, as a sentinel warp ammo when the game becomes a warp fest is very useful as it does even more dmg on top of the 1.5 times dmg to armor and barriers, and secondly assualt armor when depleted gives you a sheild boost equivelent to 75 % your total sheilds so in reality you get a 145% shield durablity buff as well as a more powerful pulse meaning when depleated it will knock over any enemy outside of scions, harbringer, and ymir mechs giving you breathing room.

Insanity is both fun and fustrating. Running out of ammo made combat exhilarating, to crush my enemies head with my fist made the victory of combat more enjoyable. To know I owned that section of the game that made insanity almost impossible gave me a sense of accomplishment.

That and I spit on my enemy after they gave me hell lol

I might have not had the same experience as 10% of the time assault shield burst would cause ME2 to crash.  And I found no way to turn of the offending graphical affects.  I think i posted in another forum how I had to (since this is a nonspoiler section) kill the final boss without guns because it kept crashing :P
I havea 100% renegade sent from ME1 (ng+ of my other char) so if i'm feeling sadistic I might just give it another whirl and try playing with warp ammo.
