Let me start by saying that I am a huge mass effect fan and I am an experienced gamer but by far mass effect 2 insanity difficulty is the most frustrating and unbelievably difficult games I have ever played this is because of.
1. Awful team mates AI, weather you tell them to go to cover or not they always get them selves killed.
2. Some side missions no matter what you do are just impossible example saving the cargo.
3. Even some parts of the campaign are near impossible (IFF)
4. There is no checkpoint system , honestly there is nothing worse going through hard section that took you 20min and die at end and having to repeat.
5. There is just not enough ammo on numerous occasions i have run out of ammo the bullet to damage ration incredibly close.
I understand that we don’t have to play the insane difficulty but I like to challenge myself however this is just a joke when compared to hard difficulty on %90 of games these days please guys if you agree with me please say on this and maybe bioware will patch it
thank you
Bioware please patch the insanity difficulty

insanity difficulty is totally insane

I played Insanity and have none of the problems you did. I always had enough ammo between my assult rifle and smg. My AI died sometimes, but I rarely focused on them. Saving the cargo is hard, try using CAIN on that one. IFF would be hard if the AI wasnt so easy to abuse.

I cant agree with you. I played it as a Soldier and it was difficult at first but once you got upgrades it became easy. Some areas my team would die and I would just solo the rest of the enemies. Ammo was never a problem with the Revenant. And when your team is alive they can help take off shields, barriers etc. as long as you have teammates that compliment your class.

Either change your teammates on a particular mission or try another build. I'm just about done with my Insanity playthrough with a Sentinel and while it started off tough (I died a lot) I adopted tactics and have built up a well rounded squad. The more you level up the easier it will get.
Further, it's called "Insanity" for a reason.

Grunt is a good pic. He is almost unkillable.

Soldier/Insanity
Warp 4 + Warp 4 + Domination 4 = very little need for ammo. I just ran through the collector ship with this setup with Marinda and Thane with squad Incendiary ammo. While it took me some time to find the best place to pack my butt on the platforms and where to send Marinda and Thane for the Pretorian battle, I managed fairly easy.
I am planning to switch over to Warp 4 + Domination 4 + Reave 4 with Marinda or Thane, Morinth and Shepard running Heavy Reave.
Bottom line... you have to get those skills dialed in to supplement your weapons. Even Squad Wrap 4 or AP 4 ammo do not always cut like being able to attack with skills from cover.

I love insane mode. If you cannot cope with it try playing the game on Hardcore. You say you like a challenge but it appears it's too much for you at the moment. There are other settings, suggesting it be nerfed is a massive overreaction. Read the forums for insanity tactic posts first.

I don't love Insanity. I'll finish just to get the achievement and then that will be the last time I play.
I'll have to play a Sentinal on Casual to get back my self esteem.

I'm just grateful Insanity is not as bad as Doom 3 on Nightmare. That setting kicked my ass so many times.

I'm playing insane as a soldier. It is difficult, but not the hardest game I've played; that would be Devil May Cry 3 non-special edition.

I dont think it needs patching, I just think if they are making ME3 similar to ME2, they need to avoid stupid things like spam enemies, and (still, regardless of BS claims otherwise) stupid AI.
Insanity is aptly named since the amount of times enemies just come right for you is beyond belief. If Shepard wasnt made of tissue paper, it would be easy. Sadly they get to you before your pathetic "debuffs" can do their work, since even on middling enemies you need about 2 or more uses for each.
If anything needs patching, its the ruined biotics.
Seriously, armour and shields somehow stopping a singularity or throw having any effect is just beyond pathetic and stupid.

It doesnt need patching, its designed to be insane, and then be an achievement for finishing it for a reason, even if I never finish it, or never bother to fully play it, its designed to be sadistic.

Insane is not that bad, there are hard points, anything with harbingers and scions can get messy, but come on it is no Kael'thas Sunstrider or Magtheridon (referenced because they were patched)

Actually i just did the Tali recruitment on Insanity to get the pulse rifle and there was a checkpoint system. I got killed a bunch of times trying to take out the colossus, and each time it started me right back at Kal Reegar. That sucked because a couple times i was right up at the thing and died, but better than starting the entire mission over.
and frankly i didn't prepare properly for the mission.
I took Miranda, who is good for the mission (warp and overload)
and Grunt who is tough to kill but not good for much else against geth
Garrus would have been better, he has overload and concussive shot.
But by the time i figured that out i was almost done the mission so i just sucked it up

Why should they nerf insanity just because you find it hard? Its supposed to be hard. If you don't find that level of challenge fun then just play on hardcore or veteran. There is no need to nerf the difficulty just because your ego is a little bruised.
Besides, I'm actually enjoying getting my ass kicked over and over with my adept on insanity. Its a great feeling when I finally do manage to beat a difficult fight (and no, there are no impossible missions).

I disagree, like most on the thread. Playing the campaign on Insanity made me switch classes to Soldier and Adept, it made me learn how to pick teammates that complimented my powers to help strip away barrier, shields and armor, and it is absolutely unforgiving if you don't play aggressively within your class. Try Miranda, her abilities compliment almost any class: Great bonuses to health and damage from her passive Officer class, Overload for Shields, Warp for Barrier plus a pretty decent biotic slam when she is loyal.
It is important to very quickly upgrade the weapon you use the most, and Warp Ammo is a great bonus power for any class. Also if your class uses tech/biotic, upgrade the recharge rates on those as fast as you can. Your squadmates will die, but they get up when you clear a room. At the beginning of every encounter, aggressively use their overload and warp to strip down shields/barriers/armor to make it easier to take advantage of your upgraded gun damage and powers. Just quickly eliminating the first 2 or 3 enemies usually is the difference between making it through a scene- even the toughest bosses/mini bosses/etc are easy one on one. Also, your class specific power is usually a game breaker--use it as much as you can.
Gosh, beating the Collector ship ambush platforms on Insanity was incredibly difficult but ultimately awesome. I didn't have too much trouble with the IFF mission--try taking the Firestorm with you, it is a Husk-destroying machine!

Insanity's tough, but that shouldn't be surprising really. It's the highest of five difficulties after all.
Though I will say, ammo is a serious issue when playing a soldier alright. The amount of times I had to break cover out of desperation...only to get torn apart on the way to a distant thermal clip

If you end up using a lot of ammo, add Reave as your bonus power. It damages them, plus heals you--seems to work alright against the barrier'd up Collectors pretty nice. You can use it to slow down ammo usage or still attack when ammo is at zero.

Luckily Insanity gets easier at the end if you push through it. Having characters with Overload and Warp is vital through the game.
Or you could just what i did and cloak through the entire game!

I suggest playing a Sentinal or Adept in insanity. The mixed biotic power/weapons for Sentinal are really nice and you don't have to worry so much about ammo conservation. Adepts well, ya they freakin rule.
If you are a soldier, you have to think more about your shots I believe, I am doing Hardcore right now with a Vangard and um...so ya its fairly painful because there really isnt much I can do (atleast early on).
