Yeah I beat insanity starting with a level 3 Adept and I did all the quests. It just takes some getting used to.

If ppl want an easy ride through insanity just go with 2 soldier class squaddies. With concussive shot and sniper rifles, piece of cake. Because of current game mechanicsm avoiding biotics and tech is the way to go, the tech skill for legion, combat drone is pretty good tho as it distracts certain annoying mobs. Garrus, Legion, Thane and Zaeed are excellent choices for insanity.

The colossus was kind of a joke on Hardcore. Hardcore enemies don't have the vastly improved HP pool they do on Insanity, and that's what tips the scales. Enemies take more effort to kill, forcing you to expose yourself to a greater percentage of incomming fire, and allowing them to move on your position and put greater pressure on you. I breezed through hardcore on an infiltrator (after breezing through veteran on a vanguard) and now i'm doing NG+ on my vanguard on insanity and it's like slamming my genitals in a car door.
It's not all the hell i make it out to be, there's a real feeling of accomplishment when i finish a particular sequence with little to no deaths, but as i said, the vanguard playstyle does NOT mesh well with the gameplay introduced in Insanity. I find myself playing more and more like a soldier in every firefight and less like a vanguard. I think that's a sign.

Quick note: Playing insanity at level 30 is substantially harder than playing insanity from lvl 1-3+. If you're having trouble and simply want the achievement, take a class like the soldier through from a fresh playthough and you'll experience less head+keyboard moments.

I don't know about you, but I tend to save my game very often-- meaning I mash the Quick-Save button after and before pivotal encounters and gunfights. In most cases, I tend to bull-horn everything until it works, but sometimes, you have to think your party members and talents through.

Personally, if I find myself dying too much on the same encounter, I'll rest for an hour or so to cool off and head back on it. Often times, I find myself completing that same encounter after one or two tries, soon after my break. Being frustrated sucks, but sometimes you have to play your strategy a little bit different.

1.       Awful team mates AI, weather you tell them to go to cover or not they always get them selves killed.

Happens occasionally, but not game-breaking.

2.       Some side missions no matter what you do are just impossible example saving the cargo.

I did it as a lvl 10 soldier and saved half the crates. If I went there at level 20 with the nuke and the advanced sniper rifle, would've easily saved all of them.

3.       Even some parts of the campaign are near impossible (IFF)

Not even close. A little boring since you're fighting the exact same fight (husks + scions) like 5 times, but certainly nowhere near impossible. I died once or twice.

4.       There is no checkpoint system , honestly there is nothing worse going through hard section that took you 20min and die at end and having to repeat.

I'm undecided on that. On the one hand it can be annoying, on the other hand makes the ends of these fights that much more exciting since you know there's a penalty for death.

5.       There is just not enough ammo on numerous occasions i have run out of ammo the bullet to damage ration incredibly close.

Never happened. Shoot more accurately. Posted Image

I understand that we don’t have to play the insane difficulty but I like to challenge myself however this is just a joke when compared to hard difficulty on %90 of games these days

You do realize that "challenging yourself" does not mean encountering a difficult challenge and then whining and crying to have it made easier? That's not challenging yourself, that's b*tching. If Bioware nerfed insanity, it's no longer a challenge. Why would you even want them to? I'm sure one of the lower difficulties will provide an enjoyable experience for you.

If you like to challenge yourself, you have to be up to the challenge. If not, tough luck.

Insanity is aptly named since the amount of times enemies just come right for you is beyond belief. If Shepard wasnt made of tissue paper, it would be easy.

You do realize that INSANITY is not supposed to be easy, right?

I hated the platforms too. That part stunk. Just do your best to ignore the Scions by never leaving cover when they are shockwaving you. Also, only deal with Harbinger when you gets right in front of you. Then, move Shep back and forth in cover while he is firing...it messes up his aim with that black bubble that knocks you. Just a little movement behind a single block is enough to throw him off, and he won't hit you with his bubble. With a bit of practice you can stay alive. Be patient and warp/shoot only when he takes a break, he has a rythym he follows, and evenutally you'll kill him.

You'll have a few seconds after he dies to take out maybe ONE other collector before he possesses another, just be quick when he's not around and be extremely patient when he is. You'll make it through eventually.

Also be very very aggressive at the beginning platform. Use your and Miranda's Warp and then Throw/Grunt's Concussive Shot to knock the first 2 minions off the platform.

Thanks, that really helped.  I knew about the movement screwing with his singularity, but I'd been fighting him from a bad spot, so I kept getting sniped, and I was paying too much attention to the scions.  Tried it one last time sitting behind the middle part of the bunker, and focused on taking everything except for him and the scions down first, then focused on him, and then finally got the scions.  My problem earlier was that I thought he would circle around the bunker and take me out of cover, but instead he just stands there right in the middle of the platform like a moron and let's me chip away at him.

Things got a little hairy during the third stage, with the assassins on the platform with him, but I got through it, and I'm still good to go for insanity on this run through.

Man it feels good to get through that!  I didn't even like that part of the game on normal.

Insanity was tough but not impossible - it reminded me of CoD veteran, just keep trying and eventually you'll get it. Hardest part was definitely the collector ship ambush. I only came close to running out of ammo once, I had to finish off a scion with my shotgun lol.

Only part of it I think is really broken is teammates who will be at low health still popping out of cover, they should hide until their health comes back.

I quick save constantly, and I backup those saves with regular saves.  I'm paranoid about getting through something and then my power goes out or something hinky happens.

Actually it saved my ass last night.  I got some kind of bug on the N7 mission with the reaper indoctrination device that you have to blow up.  Back on the ship, I went to leave the system, and got the "You're out of fuel" message.  Which was a little odd.  Turns out that my credits were down to a few thousands (instead of 500K+), all my resources were gone, even me medi-gel was down to 1/4, and all my fuel and probes had vanished.

But fortunately I had a mid-mission save from 10 minutes ago to go back through.

I was pretty terrified at the time, though, wondering just how far back all my resources and credits had disappeared.  Thank the gods it was only a glitch from the end of the mission.

(Come to think of it, I should probably post this on the technical forums.)

Glad it helped! It was a tough scene and I was pumped as hell to finish it myself after numerous trial and errror deaths. I've found that although it seems counter-intuitive, staying in cover and ignoring scions are always the best way to go in any scene. I've heard a lot about the IFF scene too, so when you get to the dead reaper, take the firestorm and Grunt and Garrus/Zaeed....no barriers to worry about for Miranda so you don't need her, Grunt has Assualt rifle +Fortification, and those other two hold up well to Husks with their Assault rifles. The combination of the right team, using the Firestorm and retreating while fighting kept my from dying even once there both times I played it on Insanity. I was really pumped there too, lol!

There is a checkpoint system—your ability as a player to save almost whenever you want. You just can't mid-combat. Sometimes, if there's a lull or a pause between enemy waves, the save option becomes available again. I'm talking about the 360, so you'll have to hit start and choose to save instead of the PC's quicksave option (unless you're on a PC, then you have quicksaves and normal saves or however that works).

Make use of it. Save often. And by often, I mean often. Walk down a hall: save. End a conversation: save. Pick up a health pack: save. Get through a fight: save. Approaching another fight: save.

It comes in handy in case of a weird glitch happening, in case you do something really stupid, in case your AIs do something really stupid, or the game just beats you up fair and square. That will save you a ton of frustration.

Insanity is suppose to be near imposssible, so complaining about Insanity being too hard for any reason is stupid.

It is not impossible, i'm Soldier and currently at the last mission, and i must say, it was fairly easy until then. Have patience, don't rush your enemies and you should make a mission in every team setup. Just be smart, or at least pretend to be smart and you will not die so much. (Have you noticed your Squad mates have unlimited ammo? Use that!)

The only fight i had to reload more than one time was the second praetorian fight onboard the collector vessel, that was a bit nasty... and probably the end boss.

I played as a Soldier imported from ME1 on Insanity on my first playthrough, and despite some frustrating bits (Those damned Scions) it was actually a fun challenge. I guess its also important to mention I used the Collectors Edition bonus stuff to help me out in the beginning of it = D

There are several spots where there's brief combat lull's but no save points (auto or otherwise) during fights that can last upwards of a half hour on Insanity, at least that's how it is on PC.  There's a side mission or two with long combat sequences, and then the derelict collector ship (which has more than one long fight), which is as far as I've gotten on Insanity so far.  I just thank the maker that Horizon autosaves, so if the praetorian gets you (he got me!...), you don't have to do the whole thing over.    I haven't tried any of the loyalty missions at this level, but even so, there are some really frustrating levels where you can fight for 20 minutes or a half hour, get knocked out of combat for half a second and then, yay, time for a do-over.

But you're right, save constantly.  And not just quicksaves, make new saves.  Always good policy in any game.

I've probably worn my f5 key out by now.

Beat the game from level 1 on insanity with a soldier. Took 2 days. Suck it up. Only had import bonuses, hadn't beaten the game yet for game completion bonuses.

Original Doom with fast monsters turned on. Now THAT"S challenge!!!

That said, my first playthrough of the game was on veteran and I had a few difficult moments. Second playthrough was on Insanity and at some points I got incredibly pissed off.

Third playthrough on Insanity, Soldier, new game +, and I'm having a much easier time. I'm pretty pleased with how challenging they've made this game.

I completed Insanity difficulty with a Vanguard on my first playthrough. It was rough at first, but by the latter half of the game I was doing fine. I agree that the AI's flaws start to show at the harder difficulty and there are annoying missions on Insanity that wouldn't be on the lower difficulty (the saving the cargo and rescuing the quarian stood out for me). I had no problem with how difficult the game was except in a few select locations where the design felt slightly off. There was nothing that I saw that said it needed a patch for Insanity and as others have stated, it's not supposed to be easy.

disagree with the OP. i beat the game on insanity and it is both challenging and fun. no offense to the OP but maybe you are not as good as you think. making ME2 insanity not as challenging as you think. remember, enemy types have weaknesses. it is up to you to know the weaknesses and attack them.

it is not too hard for a lot of people to beat, so no, it doesn't need "patched"

just beat the game, it is fun

Insanity is meant to be hard.

If you want the game to be easier, adjust the difficulty down. This lets you play at a difficulty you enjoy while not requesting everyone else get the challenge taken away.

I thought Insanity was fairly easy playing as a soldier, just gotta make sure nothing flanks you and take cover when your shield drops... Take Adrenaline sniper shots on the weak guys whenever you can

I love armor piercing ammo!

It's practically impossible to run out of SMG bullets. I think I've only done it like once or twice. Once when you find the indoctrination machine in the mine & when you fight the husks in the Derelict reaper.
