Let me start by saying that I am a huge mass effect fan and I am an experienced gamer but by far mass effect 2 insanity difficulty is the most frustrating and unbelievably difficult games I have ever played this is because of.
1. Awful team mates AI, weather you tell them to go to cover or not they always get them selves killed.
2. Some side missions no matter what you do are just impossible example saving the cargo.
3. Even some parts of the campaign are near impossible (IFF)
4. There is no checkpoint system , honestly there is nothing worse going through hard section that took you 20min and die at end and having to repeat.
5. There is just not enough ammo on numerous occasions i have run out of ammo the bullet to damage ration incredibly close.
I understand that we don’t have to play the insane difficulty but I like to challenge myself however this is just a joke when compared to hard difficulty on %90 of games these days please guys if you agree with me please say on this and maybe bioware will patch it
thank you
1. Not if you offer them proper cover fire and situate them into cover, although I frequently allow them free rein. Yes their AI is lacking, specifically on characters like Jack, however in majority of cases it is merely poor management on your part.
2. I believe this is the N7 wherein we have three YMIR to contend with, usually in overwhelming fashion. Aye, it is difficult. It is meant to be difficult yet hardly impossible. I handled it with some well placed Mantis rounds and laser ripping action. Using your squad mates as decoys is always helpful.
3. Difficult, not impossible.
4. No, there is an Autosave feature, which is essentially the same. This happens so frequently, you should nary have any qualm. In addition, you are given free rein to save at your leisure upon conclusion of combat. Utilize this feature.
5. Use different guns. I am a Widow, Mantis and potentially Claymore abuser, so I can appreciate ammo complaints however if you are meticulous in your shots and pull out your SMG and Pistol when needed, you have more than enough.
In the end, you are complaining about difficulty on the hardest setting. This is designed for players who desire a challenge above and beyond normal gameplay. In all honesty, I would fancy improved AI efficiency and the addition of snipers to make Insanity truly a nightmare, whilst porting the present Insanity to replace Hardcore. Just set the game to Hardcore if it bothers you to such a degree because Insanity is good how it is. As I said, it could be better (or worse in your case)

Insanity is supposed to be crazy hard so no reason for bioware to do any thing. (Try playing ME1 on insanity and shoot everything only for it to not die.)

I say "over" because I stopped counting after that point, because it made me insane.
The only reason I beat it was because a group of geth got stuck on the far side and wasn't attacking. Had they not glitched, I would probably be still trying to beat it right now TEN MONTHS LATER.

Lol something similar happened to me in Grunt's recruitment mission. The boss' Mechs were kicking my ass but when I tried again after failing numerous times they suddenly stopped attacking me. Which made the boss a lot easier.

There are a couple missions that the companions are bugged indeed though. The Blood Pack relay with those bugs and the Reaper Indoctrination inside that mine. If companions are let in "follow" instead of constant ordering their positioning, they will run back and vanish from the fights due to some lousy path finding. Sometimes ordering their positioning will cause that too.

I only play Insanity. Many runs with Soldier (all my many runs in ME1 are Soldier too) and about 3 as Vanguard. It gets easier and easier every time.

I agree with you completely. I usually play on Insanity on both ME 1 and 2. Compared to the first one, Mass Effect 2's Insanity is a piece of cake.

On insanity you really had to use all your abilites as well as your squad perfectly. Really liked it.

That said, the only parts where my Soldier had a problem on my Insanity run were the Collector Ambush, Tali's loyalty mission (the part where you get screwed by three Geth Hunters) and the IFF. Someone said earlier that Scions suck on Insanity. I agree. Harbinger is not so much. Just get the whole squad shooting at him and he goes down quick. For me, Insanity just requires patience, and the ability to realize when it's time to move.
I can't play the game on casual. I hate it. They die too easily. I don't feel like I'm doing anything, and I don't fell like I'm actually playing a game. Not fun at all. My standard play through difficulty now is Hardcore. I bump it up when I'm feeling saucy.

That's interesting :S I always play insanity, simply because I think it gives the strongest yield of gameply vs storyline, and I've spent long enough fighting various uber-creatures that the dialogue comes as a welcome relief and I don't rush through it.
Tali's mission is one of my favourites. Especially as Infiltrator. If you'd like some advice for future, head to the sniper perch on the right hand side and make your way along it, leaving one squadmate back with Reager to stop them hitting you from behind. Be sure to order him/her into cover. Ignore the colossus entirely, and focus on fighting the Geth as they come as you move along the perch. Once at the far side, stay on the perch and clear some of the Geth out from around it, then simply hammer it with SMG and sniper fire

The Sentinel is supposed to be a strolling tank; as per those videos I've seen of ppl playing up-close w/o cover.
I figured I've got what it takes to do the same. Here I go, gain ground and play up-close... My lvl 30 Sentinel is toast - overrun - done - pls try again. So much for gibbed'ing myself the Scimitar in replacement of the M-97.

Insanity is for players with some basic hand/eye coordination, so just
accept that you're bad at games and go play it on Normal and leave the
rest of us alone. The difficulty setting is there to cater to people of
all skill levels, it's not there to have a "hardest" setting everyone can beat to feel good about themselves.
I'm playing soldier too, and if anything I would want a harder difficulty
since the game just gets easier and easier the more upgrades you get.
