Why did I get renegade points after recruiting Mordin Solus?

I got 5 Renegade points when I completed the mission on Omega to recruit Mordin Solus.

Anyone have any idea why I did?  I only see the notation for Renegade points if I elect to "Stay" in the lab after my mission is finished.  If I choose to "Leave" (return to the Normandy), it doesn't say anything about Renegade or Paragon points.

I didn't do anything I can think of that would trigger Renegade points.

The game gives out both Renegade/Paragon points for certain quest completions.

Live with it.

I got renegade points for saying "no" to someone's flirting so I didn't cheat.

Seems arbitrary sometimes.

You get one renegade point for each medigel/medikit you pick up during the mission.

I suppose they are there to help the plague victims, and it isn't nice taking their medigel.

That must be it.

It's only frustrating/ambiguous because of the HUUUUGE delay between your action and the morality reward.  IMO, would've been more user friendly/intuitive if they made the renegade hit come immediately after you take the medigel (or steal from the safe) if that's what triggers it.

Thanks though.

That might be due to 'leading the person on' to the point where they get false expectations, then you crush their hope by saying "NO".

I haven't experienced this at all, because I actually wanted to court Miranda, but I guess if you flirt with someone then shoot them down after leading them on, that's a pretty jerky thing to do. On the other hand, I'm surprised you don't get renegade points for cheating, though you don't get paragon points either, so perhaps it's more neutral.

I think it gave it me because I chose to stay after the mission and not leave straight away. I saw it as being punished for wanting more rpg XD

So I went back and replayed the level where you recruit Mordin Solus. I didn't pick up any of the medkits, thinking that might've triggered the Renegade score. I also didn't loot any of the goods inside of the people's apartments, since I thought that might be considered evil.

I STILL got 5 Renegade points for recruiting Mordin Solus at the end of the level. (You have to pick "stay" when he gives you the option at the end, otherwise you don't know what your Paragon and Renegade results are at the end of that mission).

This doesn't make sense. It's not the end of the world, but it makes no sense. I recruited Zaed. Some hardcore mercenary who's treating his current prisoner like an animal. He even shoots him in the leg. But when I recruited him ("Welcome aboard, Zaed!"), I got Paragon points!

Makes no sense to me.

Could've been the dialogue. I said something semi-snarky - the one where you go, "I just wish that for once..."

That's the thing.  I did everything good two shoes.  I chose all of the "good" option dialogue sequences.  I interrupted him with a Paragon interrupt (and got massive Paragon points for that).  I really have no idea what, if any, action I took generates the Renegade score at the end of that mission.  It's bizarre.

Did anyone get through it without getting Renegade?

Some of the Renegade and Paragon points are seriously arbitrary compared to ME1, and pure Paragon or Renegade character is also pretty scitzophrenic about their opinions. If you play as Paragon you're not supposed to trust Cerberus because they're terrorists, but when you declare that the Illusive Man must have betrayed you, this is seen as a Renegade action.

I wish this dialogue issue gets tweaked for ME3.

i agree you cannot end this game with zero renegade you might get 20 all up which is dum my renegade bar is tiny however its stupid it doesn't reduce if you do paragon actions. ps ive never done a renegade action i always choose the light blue action, top action or middle if neither are there. i still ended up with renegade points somehow.

You are working for Cerberus. You cannot emerge unscathed.

Nope  -- I saved Daniel AND I saved the other batarian (sp?) guy who complains about humans.

Still got 5 Renegade points.

Oh well.  At least gaining Renegade points doesn't make you lose Paragon ones.

The 5 renegade I think ARE for choosing to stay. He says he is going to finish up here, and will meet you at the ship. I took it to me that choosing to stay is assumed to be that I didn't trust him/wanted to spy on him or something along those lines.

Only thing it could have been, the other options were all distinctly paragon.

It's like that all the time. I'm always wondering why I got renegade points here, or paragon points there when I don't think I said or did anything to warrant it. A lot of dialogs I just seem to get two of each as a matter of course. I think it's stupid.

That's not it either.  I avoided looting anything from the apartments on my second run through.
