Good thing I found this thread. I couldn't get over the fact that I got Renegade points after getting Mordin and pondered starting the game over again. Has anyone found any new info? I am pretty set on the idea that recruiting Mordin triggers it.

I loaded up my save through the editor and saw that I actually accumulated 10 Renegade points. I have no idea where the other 5 points came from.

Maybe I walked too fast past a child?

I noticed this too. I don't see why I get the points.

the question is .... why wouldn't you want renegade points? Renegades rule. :P

Some of the Renegade and Paragon points are seriously arbitrary compared to ME1, and pure Paragon or Renegade character is also pretty scitzophrenic about their opinions. If you play as Paragon you're not supposed to trust Cerberus because they're terrorists, but when you declare that the Illusive Man must have betrayed you, this is seen as a Renegade action.

I wish this dialogue issue gets tweaked for ME3.

I agree. This is why the renegade/paragon point system needs to go. I can't even agree with a morally ambiguous issue like the Genophage without the game telling me I'm a renegade for it.

Just get rid of it. Have the consequences of choices carry over but don't have some stupid points telling me how the game judges my morals. they don't even need to be there really.

I posted in another thread about this issue. It's fairly irritating to me, but seeing as it's just the way it is, I'll deal with it. I was hoping to make a perfect paragon char, but oh well. Seriously I think some of the paragon choices are pretty immoral, and also some of the renegade choices seem more righteous.

I hope they fix the strange morality issue in ME3. At least ME1 was more clear and correct in moral conduct than ME2. I guess I have a shady past, so I'll live with it. Maybe they made it that way to irritate self-righteous types, after all: "All have sinned and fallen short..." *ahem*

oh sorry

The 5 renegade I think ARE for choosing to stay. He says he is going to finish up here, and will meet you at the ship. I took it to me that choosing to stay is assumed to be that I didn't trust him/wanted to spy on him or something along those lines.

Only thing it could have been, the other options were all distinctly paragon.

No, you still get the renegade points, you just don't receive the notification. According to the save game editor I had 5 renegade points before I recruited mordin and 10 after, even if I left immediatly.

Probably the same reason you get +5 Renegade for having dinner with Kelly. Logic doesn't play a huge part in the Paragon/Renegade system. It bothered me at first, but after like 7 playthroughs I've learned to just roll with it.

Yeah the Renegade/Paragon system is really illogical. I always make my main Shepard a pure Paragon, yet he ended up getting a whole bunch of Renegade points when there was no reason to have any! It's better to just accept that you will get to the end of the game with some Renegade points, but if you're Paragon that will still be maxxed out.

What's wrong with free morality points?

You gain extra dialogue options and you lose nothing (in ME1's case you also get an extra quest)

Free points are grand and all, but the fact that they seem so random is where the issue lies

Yes random and lead to facial scarring. Sure you can fix it with the med bay upgrade, but it's annoying to have to mine for all that platinum on a non modded 360.

If you STAY at the end of the mission instead of leaving, you will gain 5 Renegade points. If you stay and not leave at the end of any of your mission's you will gain Renegade Points. And another thing that you might want to consider, if available, when your not sure about the dialoge, choose the neutral option. Its not always an option, but it does pop up. If your that anal about Renegade/Paragon, i can only recommend that you save alot. I mean ALOT.

Its because the game secretly wants you to.play renegade, since paragon is a naive jerk.

You get the points whether you stay or not. That has nothing to do with the points being given. You just get 5 renegade points when you finish the level. There's no reason and no way to avoid it.
