I love the CC tool that we now have!  Getting the look and feel of our characters finished in advance of the actual game release will get us all into the game more quickly.

The next step in this process, however, is character (or build) planning.  I think I have something that can help with that!

Version 1.02 of the Character Planning Spreadsheets is now available.  Please see the following for more information

social.bioware.com/project/229/

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here. Enjoy!

PS: Thanks goes to daem3an for the original inspiration for these.

Whoo-hoo! I was wondering when you'd get the new ones up! I'm gonna have fun with these, and hopefully without any silly goof-ups this time!

NWN was a nightmare.

Did you include the bonus talent that we apparently get fairly early in the game?

Thanks for all the responses. I will have a look at the questions later in the day ...

I did not include bonus talents, etc., but perhaps I can modify the sheets to allow for those and any other similar bonuses ... good idea! Do we know what the bonus talents are going to be and what the pre-requirements are for them?

Not at all, unfortunately. :(  Just very strong hints from dev comments and some of the gameplay videos that somewhere along the line (maybe when we become a grey warden?) we'll get at least one or two free points.

The bonus talents will probably be some quest reward, special training or even a tome of knowledge (like the one that gives you the extra skill point that come with the memory band, i think).

So not all PCs might get them, which makes it hard to plan them into a build.

Nice job on the character sheets, thanks Adaram. :)

OK everyone, boy am I an idiot!! Apparently the files were for project members only ... I found the setting and now they should be available to everyone. Can someone please check and confirm that they can see and dl the files?

I was able to see it so it works!

It really looks great, I just don't understand how the skill/talent chart works.

oh wait, I think I finally get it, but the available yes/no tab doesn't change does it?

EDIT: Oh it does, my bad.
The amount of skill point you have remaining doesn't change though, 2 at level 2, 4 at level 4 etc.
When you click a cell it says Rogue in the top, but I'm building a Warrior. Maybe that's the problem?

You're right -- you found a bug. The bug only affects Warriors and Mages. That use to work. I need to fix it anyway since it looks like Skills are available at levels 1, 3, 5, etc., not 2, 4, 6 etc. I'll fix the thing you found at the same time. Thanks.

Okay, good luck with that. You'll post it again when you fixed it?

You did a really good job with that. Can't wait to experiment with it! Keep up the good work!

tobad you cant really use it to plan your final stat build with it. Since items/weapons/armor are also adding +stats, which incase can alter your final dex of 36 to 22 if your gear has +14 dex stats on it (which makes it 36 as well) and by that leaves you room enough to increase other stats if you want to.

Just a reminder that V 1.02.3 was released on Friday ... I haven't looked at this since then, but more updates will be coming in the next few days, I hope :)

...Yahtzee's RPG/Excel jokes were funnier before I saw them become reality. Very nicely put together, though. :P

Personally I'm not going to plan ahead. I feel that the first time through I need to try a few skills and decide on what feels right. At that point I can start planning for what I'll do as I progress through the game.

I'm creating a mage and have a question about where to put my 5 points. I want to put them all in constitution, but will that kill my magic abilities? What are average willpower and magic stats at start? Are 16 and 17 (respectively) usable numbers or will i be too weak?

16 willpower may be a little low, I'm not sure what mana/fatigue costs for spells are like. 17 magic should get you through the first few (maybe 1 or 2) levels fine but level 2 non-arcane spells seem to require around 18 magic (upwards of 20 according to the wiki). The arcane spells only have lvl requirements.
