I used to think AP ammo was way better than it should be, until i realized it was the little kids ammo power. The other ammos just require more tactical thinking.

Warp ammo detonates when you hit someone pulled slammed or singularitied.

Shredder Ammo is for players that spam only warp constantly.

The only true ultimate ammo is really inferno, because its panics people. its the number one reason why flamethrowers are so good in this game.

Shredder is very situational so I just leave that to Thane. Warp or AP are both useful all the time though.

Warp ammo - I prefer the colour :P

Yeah same here, it completes my Skeletor ensemble, nyah ha ha ha

Also because I want ammo that's actually good against barriers and has extra damage bonuses for after Samara and Jack do their thing

Does shredder ammo have the cool green bullets like Thane?

For an Infiltrator whose main gun is a sniper (Widow) Shredder ammo is redundant.

Even on insanity most enemies are 1 shot headshot kills in health. They really nerfed that power alot it should at least be barriers and health or something.

Has anyone actually run tests on Shredder ammo, or are people just dismissing it out of hand? I remember it tearing through Collectors (Insanity), barriers and health, using Thane's squad shredder.

class? Weapon?

The game is generally easy w/ all the upgrades. There is no denying it kills things much faster when in health, but w/ a sniper rifle its redundant, 1 shot head shot regardless.

I think shredder ammo for an Infiltrator is pointless, perhaps for other classes its ok.

Ugh, just drop it's Armor/Shields/Barriers and use a level 4 Dominate. After it's dead, do the same on another enemy.

Wait people are saying that Shredder wrecks Organic Defence. I need an explanation.

Armor Piercing ammo (Tungsten when fully upgraded) is better than both.

On armored or stripped enemies, yes.  On other protections, not so much.

Disruptor and Warp Ammo cover all the protections (but Warp Ammo is only really devistating to barriers...the least common protection in the game).  If you plan to play Insanity, AP (Tungsten) might make more sense as the foes that rush to get in your face and melee will ALL be armored and all enemies also have quite a bit more health than on lower difficulties.  AP/Tungsten takes care of both of those.

There is no such thing as "Organic Defence".  Shredder is devistating to HEALTH (red bar) on organic enemies. Defences are Barrier/Sheild/Armor before the red bar and shredder does nothing exceptional to them.

That's 1 of many ways to deal with targets on health, but guns don't have much of a cooldown :P

It only affects health...albeit very well.

What?  Pretty sure that's warp, not warp ammo.  Could be wrong since I haven't used warp ammo ins a LONG time.

No, warp ammo actually gets a 100% damage bonus against enemies affected by biotics

Both do 100% damage when you pull someone.

I'm going to put a bit of a guide together about insanity on derelict ship. This is the hardest combat scenario in the entire game regardless of difficulty setting...

For a reference, this encounter on casual is identical to playing the rest of the game on Hardcore.

To be on topic to this thread, AP ammo is better, because Barriers are way lower versus the armor that enemies have. Also, just because a power is "red" doesn't mean it's not actually very effective against barriers. If you just said I have no other "powers" to use just bullets, then yes, Warp ammo is better than AP. But when you realize just how easy certain teams can be on making Insanity barriers disappear instantly, and how NOT easy it is to make insanity armor disappear, AP ammo totally wins out over Warp.

Warp ammo does not detonate against targets affected by biotics.  That just regular Warp, the skill.  Warp ammo gains a damage bonus against targets affected.

I thought ANY damage dealt to someone being pulled does double damage regardless of ammo type.  I'm pretty sure I read a dev post about this.  Are you saying warp ammo does even more damage on top of this?

Let me explain more in depth.

They get 100%+ damage in rag doll physics and the warp ammo bonus does twice as much damage (not the base damage but the actual ammo part).

warp just detonates, spreading the radius really far and doing damage to everything blah blah.

Warp Ammo's 50% bonus turns into 100%, on top of the 100% damage bonus from being ragdolled.
Honestly, there comes a point where all these damage bonuses just don't matter. You can finish off the vast majority of unprotected enemies in 2-3 seconds with nothing more than an SMG or Carnifex, and even quicker if allies help out, so its kind of overkill.

Thanks. And Rumination888, you're probably right about the not really mattering thing, but it's still good to know, especially if you are into the game as much as I am.
