I just think sexuality in America is silly. We
can shoot thousands of people in the head, beat up prostitutes, engage
in generally immoral and socially deviant behavior, but when it comes to
sex, OMFG! Censor! Censor! And in Mass Effect's case, its really more
about taking your relationship to the next level then merely just haveing "casual sex". I like
what modern warfare did with its disclaimer at the beginning of the
game. Maybe consider having something like that in the next mass effect. I think a little sex is harmless compared to...say...
having a shooting spree in an airport full of civillians. Thats just my
opinion though, what do you think?

You are completely right but unfortunately, there are people who exist who get really offended by a breast, vagina or penis that even the thought of one sends them into a fury.

You will never get what you ask for UNLESS the PC version comes with a mod kit.

Money and biowares producers dictate this above ALL else, more than that SCARY FAUX NEWZ and those knuckle dragging conservatives or you extreme feminist Liberals who don't voice their opinion on air because no really gives a darn about MSNBC.

You will if the developers are European, a land where people don't have anxiety attacks over such stupid matters.

So I keep hearing, can you point me to some solid 8/10  RPGs or Shooters developed by European game companies marketed to North America? Besides the Witcher.

Yes i agree we can show sex in movie and online, show people burning on the news, and kill civilians in an airport(in a video game) watch terrorist on the news blow up the towers and show people dieing but sex in video games is just wrong every thing else sex wrong.

No worries when it comes to sex and videogames etc... because soon our generation will be the adults who were raised on, and still play games.

It wasn't my intention to strictly apply my statement to games, just the fact that when I visit my home county I am not seeing black bars over reproductive organs or the censoring of words. Hell, even going up to Quebec is another world, a better one at that.

Well, the people who're offended by sex are the people who don't watch rated R movies. There's a reason for rating systems. If you don't like it, don't play it.

Case in point, the Witcher from polish developer. There was a full nude dryad walking around in the forest, and yes you could have sex with her, including a scene that didn't show  anymore than BWs scenes, IIRC.

On the other hand, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from Ukraine had no females at all.

People just don't get the thats why they say whats in the game by the rating to show you that if you don't like what will be in it you don't have to play it.

Imo, it is a lose-lose situation for a developer.

If you do have sex scenes, people will b!tch and moan, TV stations will write scandalous articles about how your game is the work of the devil. People will scream and shout blasphemy on your forums.

If you don't have sex scenes, people will b!tch and moan. Blog sites and online reviews will write scandelous articles about how your game is pathetic. People will scream and shout heresy on your forums.

The sad part is that everyone on both sides of the argument believe they are totally, 100% correct and the other is 100% wrong. However, neither of the two sides attack each other's principles. Instead, they attack (without prejudice) the development house making the game.

All this really does is shine a massive light on the general level of absurdity of the topic.

Its pretty pathetic that people get into a tizzy when they hear about sex in a video game. Its natural, its fun, and almost everyone does it. For those that worry about the pathetic excuse for media that we get in America, take their info with the biggest grain of salt you can find and back that up with some penicilin.

ratings are there. It tells you whats in it. You dont like it? DONT BUY, PLAY, WATCH IT!

The Witcher was a great game, sadly though sex was done in a very immature and juvenille manner in that game.

This could easily be fix if the sex part they would go to the bed and get under the covers and have sex then snuggle easily fixed and done no nudity but it would please both sides because it have realism.

What I find hilarious is that you can "Whoohoo" all you want in the Sims. You can do it in a bed, a hot tub, a dressing room. . . Wherever... In fact, it's sometimes an in-game goal!  Then there's games like ME, and people go crazy. It makes me laugh.

The issue is, that even though you think this is all it would take, there will be a legion of sicko-dweebs for whom this would still not be enough.

Just take a look at the forums right now, there are at least 3-4 multiple page threads filled to the brim with sex starved nerdragers who are totally exploding on Bioware for not have full frontal nudity in ME2. They are going on and on about how ME2 is a scam, how they have been duped and how everyone at Bioware should be fired because in the "sex scene" players didn't get to see a full on, gratuitous, multi-positional (with zoom), X rated porn scene of Shepard drilling someone into his cabin floor.

The problem? Those dweebs all believe that they are 100% right in causing this ruckus. They feel that they have the right to demand this be done. Whats worse, is that if you go and tell them that they are being silly and unreasonable, you only end up adding more fuel to their sick fire.

So in the end. It really is a lose-lose.

Once upon a time there were the Puritans, who thought that the easiest way to avoid sin was to simply not enjoy anything, ever.  This was difficult, so they insisted that no one else should ever enjoy anything, either, thereby lowering their level of temptation.  Out of sight, out of mind.

Europeans, generally, were so annoyed by these Puritans that they offered them a choice: "Go away, perhaps to a colony somewhere, or we will have to kill you."  Shortly thereafter, the Puritans departed in search of "religious freedom."  They found it in America, where they could set up colonies under theocratic dictatorships and burn "witches" at the stake for having too much fun.

America was a pretty decent place, all around, and pretty soon you had more normal and reasonable people trying to live here, too.  As the colonies coalesced into a nation, however, you always had to deal with the damn Puritans, and appease them in order to get them to go along with reasonable governance.

This situation remains to this day.  You'll never see a politician with the courage to say "your religion is stupid, keep it to yourself."  Religions - all religions - tend to create voting blocks, and to accrete influence among an electorate because of it.

The moral of the story is that Europe should have taken the Renegade choice and killed them all.  The Paragon choice (letting them come to America) didn't do anyone any favors in the long run.

The End.

It is sorta funny since having sex is the only thing I get to do in real life that Shepard does in Mass Effect...yet it is the forbidden thing I cannot be allowed to see!

Yeah, but those are the 14 year old boys.  At least, I'd hope so.  As for me, a 28 year old woman, I think the current scenes are done tastefully.

Sex in videogames is a great idea, it certainly attracts alot of people.

If a game goes without a sex scene, players would be disappointed.
