Because of the Humans Are Special trope. Linky.

The better question is why we are so favored. In Mass Effect 1 we are made out to be the Council's favorite pet, and we advanced in political standing at an astonishing rate. I was never sure why.

Your species has an indomitable will, a fierce, savage spirit that will not bend or yield.
Plus you got the attention of those infinitely your greater.
Like the Lead Writer.

How is it that humanity became as strong as the council races in like three decades? Stolen prothean tech? Also, even if the council was killed in the last game how is it possible they didnt send replacements? Are you telling me the Asari, Turian, and Salarians entire military was at the citadel?

that's funny question. the reason is simple. game is made by human. original novel was written by human. what do you expect? that's why humanity is strong no matter how aliens are tough.

Because humans are the only race that show their females.

(Asari don't count, they have no gender.)

Greater numbers combined with recklessness and the council's favor. Play Bring Down the Sky for ME1; the terrorist leader pretty much says they couldn't compete against humanity's resources and manpower, to the point that they actually feared for their sovereignty.

As far as the Mass Effect universe is concerned, we're the most genetically diverse, we're the most driven and ambitious, and we "think outside the box" in terms of scientific development. As an example, no other spacefaring race in Mass Effect utilizes fighter-class ships and carriers, which gives us a pretty significant advantage.

We are also not as complacent as other species (speculated to be because of our relatively short lifespan) like the Asari.

8 pages and not one person has come up with the correct answer!?

Humans in the ME galaxy are analogous to the US on Earth. They're a relatively recent arrival, but they've relatively quickly become the most powerful "race" (nation). They fought, and beat, a powerful "alien race" (nation) in the past and in ME1 they come to the rescue of various "alien races" with a fleet headed by a ship called the Normandy (er, hello?). A lot of ME1 deals with the issue of whether "humanity" (the USA) should rely only on themselves or look to become part of the wider "galactic community" with all of it's pros and cons and politics. Notice that the two LI's in ME1 were a classic racist bible-bashing gun-lovin *cough* republican *cough* who thinks "humanity" shouldn't get involved with "aliens", and a tree-hugging peace-loving liberal who thinks humanity should do more to improve their reputation? The liberal was even blue, ffs! How many clues do you need?

They have better military tactics then the others combined. The same is true of the US although this has dwindled lately and the US has been forced to rely on others.

The game reflects the currnet political climate after Bush left and the US realised they had made rather a lot of silly and easily avoidable mistakes as well as ruined there reputation with allies.

I only have a problem with it because its overdone. It's not often you run across something thats not portraying us as perfect. It's a little ridiculous, we all know how wonderful and perfect our lives are here on Earth, we must have plenty of things to teach aliens several thousand years older than us.

I would like to email the lead writer, but I doubt that would do any good and its just a game. =/

I'd like to think of power measurements between races became a who has the most dreadnoughts game, the Alliance would sidestep that and invent something that invalidates or counters the power of dreadnoughts that isn't another dreadnought. The nuclear option.

nuclear option isn't the right analogy. Is regarding the the treaty of Washington. Is not about nuclear proliferation.

Limiting the construction of certain ships, means innovations are done somewhere else.

now of course is a game.

The "washington treaty" happended in human history so we grew accustomed to carriers, Council races didn't want to change the status quo.

Oh wait I found it. It isn't anything relate dto nuclear weapons:

The Treaty of Farixen is almost certainly based off the Washington Naval
Treaty, signed by the U.S., Great Britain, Japan, France, and Italy
in 1922, limiting these states to capital ship tonnage ratios of
5:5:3:1:1, respectively. It was an attempt at maintaining the balance of
power and the peace after World War I. The treaty ended with the advent
of World War II.
An unintended consequence of the Washington Naval Treaty was an
increase in development of aircraft carriers, which faced less
restrictions than other vessels. There appears to be a parallel in Mass
Effect in the development of carriers by the Systems Alliance. While carriers are as large as dreadnoughts, and their use in combat is seen as
a major innovation, they are not restricted by the Treaty of Farixen.

I can't believe there are people crying about how Humans are central to the plot and thus powerful.

I suppose you folks threatening to email the game writers want to be a character of a race who is ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of the universe?

If that's the case, I got this thing you should check out. It's called real life. I think you'd really like it.

Um... no... I'm just honestly curious because it seems distractingly implausible?

Yes because, we must always put the things we want to avoid in the Real world into the game. Politics is the last thing I think of. Though nifty analogy.

It's hardly historically unknown for advanced civilizations hundreds of years or more advanced to stagnate and be eclipsed by people who, at the time of loss, were arguably hundreds if not thousands of years weaker. China is the most obvious example, the world military/economic/technological leader for hundreds if not over a thousand years, eclipsed by European states that had been in the Dark Ages for so long. The Roman Empire, with metalworking and social advancements hundreds approaching thousand years of progress were overwhelmed and defeated by German tribesmen. The Mongols took the most civilized nations of the planet, from China to the Middle East, and smashed them. Decades ago China wasn't even industrialized and was suffering the worst (man-made) famine in centuries: now it's regularly touted as the next superpower.

It's always easier to look better when catching up than it is to remain dominant while in the lead. A large part of why people have such problems with the lack of tech gap from the time gap is that they know technological advancement as it is now: something constantly getting faster exponentially. But that in large part ties in with increased computer processing ability, and that is approaching it's limit in the next few decades as we come closer and closer to the limits of making chips smaller and faster.

After that point, you aren't likely to see exponential science growth.

Personally I suspect that the single greatest cause for the Council's problems were the Krogan Rebellions and Rachni Wars. I think they were supposed to have been something so traumatic that the Council was never the same again: something comparable to Europe post-WW2, or maybe even more like post-Colonial Africa. Something that, while surviving a terrible past, is very, very slow to recover later on.

Your calling the wrong person out on the wrong thing. You worry about your life, I'll worry about mine.

This is the only vid game I play and for a good reason, I'm going to voice my concerns.

Also we humans are democratic and so our people are free to express themselves compared to the other alien races. For example we can:

Write Offensive graffiti and complain when other races don't like it

wear aggressive/violent looking clothes with spikes, ripped holes and swear words sewn in

Behave like a P""K to everyone else and get away withit

Pick on small races

we can also openly hate and critizise the government even though there only providing defensive weapons against attacks in the Terminus systems.

The aliens themselves are very rightwingh most of them such as the Turians/Krogan with high enphasis on Duty and loyalty to the state.
