I'm being serious when I beg you to never even think about getting a job within law enforcement or the military.

If I manage to get my hands on a space age armor system that allows me to take a rocket to the gut without having any damage to my person, I think I'd be quite the asset.

Modern ballistic vests are awfully good at stopping handgun rounds.  Should we start requiring police to wait until the armed suspect they're trying to subdue has actually shot at them before allowing them to shoot back?

If you're pointing a gun at someone and they start drawing their own, you shoot them.  Plain and simple.

Wow... I can't believe the level of rationalization going on with people who let Elnora go. You already know she's a vicious killer (please don't make me laugh with all this "maybe it wasn't the 'real' uniform" crap -- do you think the Eclipse kept her around as a mascot or something?). She gives you a mealy-mouthed and totally implausible excuse about only pretending to pull the trigger during her initiation, and she's reaching for a weapon! This was the clearest example in the game of BioWare offering you the choice to be a gullible idiot... which you later find out you were, if you let her live. I'm sure all her future victims are SO glad you decided to give her an utterly stupid benefit of the doubt.

But if you don't choose the interrupt, she doesn't shoot you... so what's your point?

My point is that there's every indication to perceive her as a very real threat. I wasn't able to choose what my Shepard did with the benefit of hindsight on my first playthrough. I saw a two-faced witch pulling a gun on me, saw the Renegade icon, gasped, and fired. That she might not have pulled the trigger is too big a risk for my Shepard to take.

I agree, but even if you knew how it was gona happen, I still dont get it, you(not you) are gona leave a live enemy behind you??

Again so what? You know that all the eclipse sisters have to kill someone to get their armor, so she no inocent flower, but thats beside the point, if someone (anyone) points a gun at me, im gona kill them, if cant kill them, hurt them.

Shepard puts it best themselves -- if you pick Renegade option when you meet Tali for the first time it goes something like, "Tali'Zorah you have served on my ship, you know i don't take people who aim guns in my face lightly" Posted Image

Of course she got shot.  I'm kind of amazed that anyone would NOT shoot her.  What kind of thought process does that require?

I believe it went something like this
"This is a cutscene, so she probably has something important to say." But then she didn't and I felt silly.

Right you can't think about it with hindsight think about it IN the moment honestly what would you really do... Would you wait to see if someone would really shoot you or not? or just eliminate all risks and shoot the b**ch. In that case being paragon is really being Naive and stupid. Based off the fact that before you enter that area you realize they all have to kill to be members so everyone in there IS A KILLER... I don't see a logical reason to NOT shoot her.. it would be be plain stupid.

I don't see that one as all that dickish, either.  Tali dragged you out to the middle of the Migrant Fleet and decided to risk your life on a wholly tangential misadventure.  My Shep'll put up with that crap, 'cause somebody needs to stare at the engines or whatever, but he's not gonna drop his guard in a ship full of geth to hug a quarian.

Samara smoked her own daughter and was like, "Alright, let's go."

I can dig the "I want to see where this goes" metagame aspect.  It's the people going, "No, I'd totally let someone pull a gun on me when I had one pointed at their head," that make me confused.

To be fair, most interrupts show up when you have no idea what is going on; nor what the interrupt will make you do.

Pushing the merc off the building when recruiting Thane. Shepard gains no benefit from doing so, it's murder for the sake of murder.

I don't have much of a problem with that as he was withholding information and in doing so forfeited his right to live. The most pointless renegade move I can think of is killing Elnora in the mission to recruit Samara. In reality she committed the murder, but from what you know at the time she's just a rookie that doesn't know anything and is surrendering.

Before they can even wear the suit, they have to murder someone. So she's already a murderer. I shouldn't have fallen for it.

I think most of those people play the game as a game, and dont bring their RL views to it, most of those guys should ask themselves this, if in RL a punk of the street pulled a gun on you and you also had a gun. would you let him actually point it at you.

The answer should be a resounding NO, unless someone suffers from a mental deffect.

I'm inclined to disagree. They are pretty much all given plenty of context, enough that you understand the gist of what is about to happen. A korgan is back-sassing you, and you saw Wrex headbutt him earlier to shut him up, so you try the same thing. I didn't expect that exact action, but I figured I'd be asserting my dominance in some manner.

I find this thread interesting because it shows the renegade mindset in action. Things that seem patently cruel to some appear to be completely justified to renegades, who tend to be more focused on results and don't worry too much about stepping on toes or trying to be kind. What is simple compassion to a Paragon (such as comforting Tali on finding her father) seems a pointless waste of time to the Renegade (who view this as not the time or the place to stop for a hug).

Not bashing either side, I hope... but it does kind of underline how a renegade can view these harsh actions as not just acceptable, but right and proper.

Well, I was on my Paragon and most of the interrupts suprised me.

The one with the Volus, C-Sec officer and Quarian for example surpised me. As did the one on Zaeed's mission.

I'd be happy with shooting Elnora if Shepard just shot her first, THEN made a quip. But the quip-then-shoot thing rubs me the wrong way. Instead of it being self-defence, it becomes Shepard not even caring if she's telling the truth or not, and just shooting her because she's a merc.

Of course, as I've previously said, I had forgotten about the armour thing at the time. To be fair, the interrupt only appears for a very short time, as well.

I generally sympathize more with the Paragon choices -- I mean, if you can't stop to give Tali a hug when she finds her father dead, then why are you on her loyalty mission in the first place? -- but there are some moments where the Paragon option is, as someone put it, Lawful Stupid.

It's a testament to the immersiveness of ME2 that there are some choices I really have to force myself to make.  Like siding with Morinth against Samara... that's just... wow.   I only did it to unlock Dominate and I felt like taking a shower afterward.

Renegade Shep is far too one-liney, it's true.  That's my biggest problem with the Renegade interrupts.  They're all fine from a rationality standpoint, but the decision to have him do a Schwarzenneger impression every time he does one was just stupid.

Push the merc out the window and shoot the gunslinger girl in the head, but don't make some ****** comment before/after/during.

Yup.....my reason as well. Samara only bonus power is the Reaver so I killed her to find out what Morinth has, once I realize its dominate, I decided to stick with her...... but yeah.... made me feel guilty for killing Samara.

I did pick the Paragon interrupt there even though yes, the place and circumstances weren't exactly right, but that's a perk of playing female Shepard -- she can pull it off and still remain perfectly in (dangerous) character. With male Shepard it'd feel too weird/forward.

It's not weird or forward if you've had Tali in your party throughout ME1 and ME2. It's perfectly natural. She's been to hell and back with Shepard, and Shepard wants to comfort his friend.

To me, it about how i see the world, IRL im a pragmatist, and in the game i play it the same way, to me paragon choises seem a pointless waste of time.

My mission is to stop the collectors, I need samara to do that, she needs to know where the fugitive went before she can help me, The eclipse sisters have that info but arent telling, the most practical way to get the info is to kill the ecipse and get it myself. Whats the point of stoping to thinking about some eclipse merc who might have a change of heart blah blah, who cares. Shes nothing to me but an obsticle.

As samara put it best, "If I have to kill a man, I dont first wonder if hes a good father"

Oh, I found another one.

Shooting Conrad Verner in the foot, it was fun and enjoyable but totally pointless.
