Setup:

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (5.1.2600)

Graphics card:
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Driver: nv4_disp.dll 196.21 [6.14.11.9621]

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     E6750  @ 2.66GHz
Battering Rams: 2,00 GB
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c (Mar2009) or later

I won't mind putting out much info about it here, as my problem is most certainly not related to specs.
But if it does matter, graphical options are set to max and sound is enabled. (Obviously)

My problem is, whenever I take the elevator to the Command Deck inside the Normandy, the game crashes and I get the standard Windows error message. (Weill you send this garabage text etc etc.)
This has not been a problem before. I was just finished with getting Morlan and Archangel, and I went poking around and chatting with the crew. The last thing I did before I discovered the issue was after a chat with Archangel, down in the Crew Quarters. When I enter the elevator I choose my destination (Command Deck) and the loading screen pops up. A couple of seconds pass before the renowed Windows crash report pop up.

I should emphasize the fact that this problem, did not occur in the past. This just came out of nowhere and I believe that the geth has something to do with it. Hope someone has the same problem. Nothing personal.

That about sums it all up.:alien:

Weird that it's popped up only after some missions. But I'm going to guess corrupt installation if the game is otherwise working fine. This can mean some trouble if you have to re-install. The good news is, if the problem does lie with (a) corrupted file(s), nothing is going wrong with your system.

If you got the game through a Direct Download service like Steam, Impulse, etc. you may be able to tell the download client to "Verify" your installation and make sure all the files are intact. If you have the game on disc, or if your Direct Download service doesn't support verification for Mass Effect, you'll have to re-install. If re-installing Mass Effect 2, make sure to tell the game to keep your settings & saves when you uninstall.

To try verifying your files on your Direct Download service:
In Steam, right-click on the game and select "Properties." Select the "Local Files" tab and click the button that says "Verify integrity of game cache..."
In Impulse, right-click on the game. On the menu that pops up, there may be an option to "Verify Installation." (I do not see this option for my Mass Effect 2 DDE. Can anyone comment on Mass Effect 1?)
Direct2Drive: Don't know, never used it. Can anyone comment?
EA Download Manager: Don't know, never used it. Can anyone comment?

Did anyone try this? I have the same problem and I want to know if reinstalling worked.

Also, I had all the DLC for my game. If I re-install and play without installing the DLC, will there be glitches?

I'm having this problem too; it happens whenever I try to go to the crew deck.  Every other aspect of the game seems to work except for the crew deck.  I'm almost convinced it's got to be the DLC, because it started happening ever since I loaded two different packs: Lair of the Shadow Broker and the Firepower Pack.  I know Shadow Broker includes the patch to 1.02, but I think I already had that patch installed before I loaded the DLC.

So...any thoughts?  Has anyone come up with a solution?

A crash that can be reproduced upon entering a certain area is often a symptom of a corrupted file or two. Try reinstalling the game first of all, along with the various patcches, DLC, and DX9.0c/

If that doesnt work, post your specs and we'll have a look at what else may be the cause.

I've already tried just installing the patch to 1.02, since it seems that all of this started since I installed Lair of the Shadow Broker, which came with the patch to 1.02.  EA Support suggested cleaning out temp files, too.  None of that helped.  I don't want to lose my savegames; I worked really hard on my main Shepard (full Paragon/loyalty, no one dead after final mission); no frakking way I'm losing that savegame.

You don't have to delete your save games to uninstall.

I finally just uninstalled ME2, kept my savegames and settings, then reinstalled the game and all the DLC. Works just fine now...for the most part (can't launch any savegames if I don't play all the way through LotSB...gotta look for a thread on that).
