I have been in the briefing roon twice and the door icon at the top of the screen doesn't appear.  I did find a work around.  You have to stand in front of the door hit the esc key twice and immediately hit the space.  The icon appears just briefly after you hit the second esc.

Yes, this was dug from a well-deserved grave.  But it was never answered, and there was such a very simple reason for the OP to experience the error.  He had failed to read the official System Requirements label for comprehension, and bought the game in spite of owning an inadequate PC video device.  I want to try to make sure any Search from now on won't bring up an unanswered post such as this one had been.
