Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times already, but is anyone else encountering issues in the Bypass mini-game inb the PC version of ME2?

I click the first of a pair, move to the second node of the pair, click it, and it selects it rather than completing the circuit.  Seems to only occur if when there's a large distance between the two nodes in the pair and happens every time when it's the last trace in the bypass.  I'm definitely clicking the second node prior to the expiration of the timer on the first node however.

I've tried switching through 2000, 800, and 400 DPI on my mouse to no apparent effect.

Anyone have any suggestions on a fix for this?  Game is going to be unplayable if I can't find a way around this issue.

Update:

Seems like if I click the second node within 100 milliseconds or so of reaching its border, it works.   Definitely not optimal, since I seem to only be able to manage that kinda reaction time maybe 1 in 5 attempts (sucks getting old... ../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png).  Had no issues on my 360 playthrough.

Anyone have linkage to a mod that makes this either easier or skippable all together?  I've found mention of some thing like this in existence, but haven't been able to locate anywhere to DL it.

I've had the exact same problem and it's a MAJOR game-stopper. I can't believe this kind of thing made it past QA...in a game like this it's a major headache and if I were reviewing the game, it would lose a lot of points based solely on this issue. Unbelievably frustrating and makes you not want to play the game.

I assumed it was intentional - when you click on one node, you have a limited time to complete the circuit before it resets. Not an error, simply one of the parameters of the challenge.

You don't have to click on the center of them. You just have to click in their area, there is a buffer zone.

This is no bug, there is definitely a required time to click on the same node to activate them both. If you are slow then you need to repeat it.

Tip: Click as fast as you can while remembering to select the correct patterns.

speeding your mouse up as this thread mentions might help:

A fix I hit upon is to change the resolution to 800x600. Made the game a good deal smoother. Seems like another framerate issue. Which is odd, because the game runs very smoothly outside of this problem and the interaction bug.

The problem that I've noticed isn't the time, but that the mouse lags behind. It will move at normal speed at any other time, but as soon as the bypass starts, it slows down considerably. I'll try the resolution fix, but currently I'm stuck at a door that I haven't been able to get past after like seven attempts.

If your cursor is chugging along in the mini-game, it probably could be a framerate issue. I remember having some trouble with the bypass with my old Radeon HD3650, but now my cursor is really smooth since I upgraded to a Radeon HD5770. Smaller resolution could probably fix it to a certain degree though.

Same problem here. Framerate lag screws up the minigame. Only work-around is to dial down the video resolution. One of the things I liked about decryption system in the original the Mass Effect was that you controlled it with the keyboard instead of a mouse. Not happy with Mass Effect 2.

Switching to 800x600 for the circuit board mini game made all the difference for me. Thanks for the tip!
