I was fine with Shepard's leveling system but not squad mates.
Jack the galaxy's best biotic, hmm, two biotic ability's and an ammo seem like enough.
I'd also like to see more than three guns for each type.
The armor stuff for the squad is fine it give's them time to work on the characters "look".
I want to be able to sell things,I'm out of money and I have no more missions to do.
It's a space hobo sim WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
I would have like to have seen party banter.
And the whole if you friend zone someone you can't talk to them anymore doesn't make much sence.
Check on Garrus
Still Calibrating
Only two converstaions with Garrus if your a guy come on.
Obviously these can't be fixed until a large expansion or ME3.

The biggest rpg thing that was broken in ME2 (for me) was immersion. Mission complete screens, way too linear levels, inconsistencies with lore (certain team outfits, thermal clips, etc) loading screens (I know everyone hated the elevators but I prefer them to this.) Also, I think there was a certain feeling of vastness that ME1 had that was lacking in ME2. There is a lot more going on now...but there was just something that made ME1 seem more like a galaxy than a game, some illusion of freedom, and no I'm not talking about the Mako, although honestly I would like a little bit of free roaming back. Anyways I would be very happy if ME3 paid more attention to this. I would feel more emotionally attached to the world for sure.

Squad armor is needed.

Being able to sell things again is needed.

I thought that there weren't enough stores in the first game and I feel that way about the second (only there's less inventory at the stores now)

I liked that I could customize my N7 jazz, but what happened to all the other manufacturers in the galaxy?

Expansion packs to increase the size of places like the Citadel, Omega, Illium. etc. I want to hit the streets, not loiter around hallways and markets.

More frickin' aliens. Always hear about countless species and so on but never see them...

Romance in the shower. Bring it.

there aren't countless there are dozens of species so yes we will probably have more species in the next game but not like star wars or star trek

Immersion is a word design and presentation thing, not an RPG thing. Anyone can list a dozen games that are not RPGs but are immersive. (Though why bother when it's all subjective.) Compare that to the complete lack of people that can argue why immersion is an RPG thing rather than just a world design thing, or even some other genre's thing? Immersion is good for roleplaying, but it's good for FPS games, too.

And I for one liked the mission complete screens. It was a nice little summary. I already knew the info, but it was good to review. And it worked well as a bridge to where you were to you getting back to the Normandy. Presenting it as Illusive Man's mission report was a nice touch. You got a little bit of his perspective. Even in the future, we have to do paperwork.

I really don't understand why people keep saying that ME2 lacked RPG elements.

It was way more a RPG then ME1, the sidequests were actually fun, each had a plot and cutscenes and an opportunity to role-play and make a decision, the character quests were legions ahead of ME1's, there were many more lines of dialogue, choices you make each time you level up actually matter instead of just everything almost being maxed at level 60 etc etc,

the only thing that I thought it lacked was actual armour for certain squadmates (*cough*Miranda*cough*) but even with that it was still a much better RPG (it just also had better combat)

No, but it is vital to an RPG.

Hit the nail on the head, nice.

There are a lot of people here who'd like to see the more seamless world back, less loading screens. I don't quite understand why people see the mission complete screen as so detached from the game considering a certain character. We both seem to agree there, of course.

I think the problem is so many people "expect" loot and excessive stats in RPGs, they forget that these are more immersion breaking (wtf, I'm carrying 13 different armours?) than not having loot.
