An easy, near flawless victory.

I want heavy casualties and heroic sacrifices.

--They stop the reapers but find out it is all a massive cycle that cannot be broken, as somewhere down the line organics and machines will come evolve into the reapers once more. These reapers aren't the first, they're just the latest, and humanity has to create some sort of movement akin to that of the Wardens--the only problem is, the vapidity of species that exist ensures that the cycle occurs again. Either that or after hundreds of years with no sign of resurgance, the galaxy rests on its laurels and allows a new wave of reapers to start manifesting itself.

And then they decide that the best way to break the cycle is to throw all their ships into the sun and destroy all their records.

Morinth seduces Shepard on the night before he goes off to his final battle, employing an ancient, forbidden Ardat-Yakshi technique causing the child they conceive to absorb the soul of a Reaper.

Seriously though, I want the Reapers to win. It wouldn't be a happy ending, but it would be very fitting and utterly awesome. I would love to see Bioware remain that faithful to the works of H.P. Lovecraft, which were obviously a huge influence on ME.

Phenomenally powerful cosmic beings with incomprehensible motives, the once and future rulers of our world, hiding in the depths of space and waiting for the right moment to return? And who resemble giant cephalopods? Yeah, it would've been obvious even without the "even dead gods can dream" line in ME2, which is practically word-for-word out of Lovecraft.

And in a typical Lovecraft story, there is no hope. Despite their best efforts (and maybe even a few small victories along the way) the protagonists are always doomed. There's ultimately nothing they can do about it, no way to save themselves. The only question is how long it takes them to figure that out and give up.

It'll never happen, of course, because it would ****** off every ME fan except me. But it would be, in my opinion, the perfect ending to the saga.

The reapers merge and turn into MEGAREAP!

At the very last moment a switch is discovered on the Citadel, and when pushed turns the Citadel into GIGANTODEL!

Megareap and Gigantodel fight an epic battle in which unfortunately almost the entire galaxy gets destroyed.

Shepard, being the only survivor, goes to live on the only remaining inhabitable planet, Eletania.

There he and the space monkeys live happily ever after.

When the title screen appears, telling us to press start to continue, we press start and immediately afterwards, we see Rick Astley dancing and singing to "Never Gonna Give You Up". Credits roll.

Shepard wakes up; everything has been a dream. He is just a normal people living in a little shared flat, and has a cat called Tali.

Conrad Verner becomes a gigantic Reaper. He flies out to meet the Reaper's and manages to destroy them all.

Oh wait you said worst. The Reapers turn out to not all be evil. One of the Reapers sneaks off and joins Shepard. Through a lot of exposition this Reaper explains everything to Commander Shepard. Once Shepard knows everything he finds some ancient maguffin that can destroy Reapers.

Shepard is on the Normandy in the midst of a massive space battle between the Reapers and the rest of the galaxy's armed forces. His last suicide mission... is to commit suicide.

I bet you they will put in some open to interpretation ending that satisfies no one for the PC elitists.

secretly thru the cerberus network, bioware has been compiling a database of all out shepards

when we get to the last level, a hole in the space-time-continuum appears, causing randomized shepards from many different games (or "universes") to appear in our game, they all team up and take down the reapers.

Shepard returns to the Council with all the evidence re. the Reapers.

The Council is finally convinced that Shepard is bat**** insane and has her committed.

Kaidan is sad to see his former love brought so low, but there's this new doctor chick at the Citadel so it's not so bad.

Meanwhile, Shepard's incarceration in a mental hospital convinces all those whom she advised during the past to do complete 180 degree turns... as obviously they received the advice of a mad woman.

The galaxy descends into chaos as various factions tear each other apart.

The Reapers watch from the side-lines as the civilisations of the galaxy turn themselves into tasty hors d'oeuvres and tuck their giant napkins into their Reaper collars...

When the Reapers finally descend on the team formerly known as Milky Way, it doesn't take long to tear the galaxy's brief resistance apart.  They keep Shepard until last, like the after-dinner mint to a particularly fine meal, and she gets to see everything and everyone she loves destroyed before she is melted down.

Yet, once she becomes part of the Reaper, it doesn't end.  A small sliver, a shard of consciousness remains.  Not enough to form a coherent thought.  Not enough to fight or resist.  Only enough to hate what she has become.  Forever.  Because the cycle never ends.

...

What do you mean, that doesn't fit with the comedic tone of the rest of the thread?

The game measures which character you care about the most based on the amount of time you spent going through dialogue with them, and then may or may not kill him/her in an unnecessarily violent way. It's decided by a completely insignificant dialogue option back in Mass Effect 1, and if you don't import a save going through both games, your squadmate will die guaranteed. The insignificant dialogue option deciding this is different for every version of the game, so you pretty much have to just keep a bunch of extra saves on hand and hope that one of them wound up with the right choice. And if your squadmate dies from the insignificant decision, the rest of your squad kills you for not doing anything about it.

Then your version of the game will no longer run unless you pay $30 for a retry code.

With the reaper threat over the player
is treated to some power-point slides of various mass effect
environments with a few team mate portraits and some voice-over
narrating the end which will be Shepard and love interest spending
their time adventuring and eventually marrying. One team mate going
back to their people. One team mate setting up a sort of guild.
