That's opposed to how I see ME2. I don't think much of the story so far (but I'm only halfway through, I guess), I think the characters are simply OK, and I think the combat is poor. I spend 90% of my time cowering behind a barricade lobbing shield/armor destroying "spells" and occasionally going for a headshot. It's just not as much fun as getting in close as you do with DA:O. Or, for that matter, ME1.
There, that's my opinion. At this stage, I'm not that impressed with ME2.

If these forums show anything it is that someone can completely love a game while someone else completely hates it. Why ask for someones blank opinion when all that matters is your experience.

Dragon Age had much more interesting villains though, however Jennifer Hale makes up for it once again lol

How is e trolling, even if he doesn't have either game? If so, he's just looking for input on which to buy. You need to refresh what the concept of trolling actually means...MassEffect762 wrote...

Either way, there's only one similarity between them; They're both made by Bioware. Different playstyles, different genres, different engine even. You really can't compare them.

There is just so much filler in between the good parts that it's hard for me to want to play, and I don't think I saw this until I played ME2 which was much more action-oriented and kept the experience enjoyable throughout.
But to answer your question, it depends on what you like. If you like Action RPGs, go with ME. If you like real RPGs, go with Dragon Age. So, basically if you like Fallout 3 more than Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights, go with ME. And if you like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights more than Fallout 3, go with Dragon Age.

I though the side quests made the party members' backstory in ME2 seem deeper, but at the same time I enjoyed the fact I could speak to my party members in DA:O at any time I wanted, not just at camp/on the ship.
If I had to select, I'd pick ME2 simply because I like the setting better (Star Wars fanboy here, so I'll always have a soft spot for space opera-esque games). But both were well worth their purchase price for me.

I won't make a proper decision until Awakening is out.
One thing I will mention; is that Commander Shepard actually talks... which is a big reason as to why I didn't feel as immersed in DA:O.

Mass Effect 2 is simply better in almost every possible way. Its a much more dynamic game, much more beautifull, complicated, evolved and so much more enjoyable!
The characters of ME2 are way beyond anything DAO can offer. The whole universe is much more sophisticated, the franchise - more mature. The variety of ME is amazing! We have krogans, turians, asari, salarian just to name a few races that are very well developed and original. Even the small talk while walking around pubs is pure gold!
Looking at the gameplay its the same story. We dont have that many abilities in ME2 but all of the ones we have are usable and fun to use. I have not been bored by any skill so far in the game. All of them are carefully balanced and usable in all kinds of situations which makes the combat feel fresh trough the whole game and the replays. In Dragon Age the combat is fun the first few hours. Then i start using the same skills over and over again. Tank n spank > kill mobs>loot>sort inventory>repeat. Of course we also have a great story in DAO but by far not better than the one in ME1/2. The DA franchise is still new and has a great deal of potential but it will take some time to develope.
At this point i pretty much doubt that any game can be better than ME2 in any aspect. The game that will surpass ME2 is ME3.

I disagree with the comments about ME2 characters being better. They aren't as developed as well as the DA:O characters. You can get way more dialog in DA:O and character development. Maybe you guys meant you liked the characters more, not sure. But as far as understanding and the character telling them about themselves DA:O excels. Not saying ME2 did a bad job, just saying DA:O is superior.
It's just your taste in games though, personally I liked DA:O more. ME2 is a great game though, I recommend just getting them both.
Edit: Gameplay is smooth and probably more fun in ME2. I liked it way more than DA:O. DA:O is alot of strategy and can be really hard at times.

You have no idea as to what a fanboy is, so i am a ME2 fanboy because i prefer it over ME1? What does that make you? Considering 85% of your posts are "ME2 sux M31 rul3s!!" and 15% trolling?MassEffect762 wrote...

Having more dialog doesnt equal better character development. There are tons of dialogs in DAO, most of which are beyond boring.
Also talking about gameplay, in DAO you can pot trough anything if you have enough points. In ME2 if you dont fight strategically, you die pretty fast.
Still its pretty much about tastes. I know people who simply prefer fantasy worlds like the one in Dragon Age, over future sci fi's.
Both games are good! No doubt about that.
