Is this a real question? ME2 completely destroys DA:O.

Don't be ignorant, it's pretty much a difference in prefences. Which style of gaming you like better. Fantasy vs scifi, shooter vs hardcore rpg, guns vs swords. If you like guns, aliens, epic story get ME2. If you liked ME1 get it, itll be worth it. They both are different its hard to compare, they only thing they have in common are the same developer.

because no new ones came out yet. I play almost all RPG's ever created. My next one will be Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out in March can't wait!

FF Developers are still alive? Oo

JRPGs are not Western RPGs.

Apples and oranges. One is cliche ridden. The other has the tendency to be thrilling and not so loud brash hero and hot chick with big boobs who is a virgin and wants you to have her bod but you can't because you're the chosen one and she's a princess from a faraway land and a ninja assassin.

Pardon my deep rooted hate for JRPGs.

You seem to miss the fact that WRPGs tend to have as many cliches as JRPGs. <_< and thanks for assuming FF = all JRPGs. Really. <_<

I liked ME2. I really got the feeling of a cohesive universe full of lore with ME. DA:O just felt like it was trying to be unique by creaming "hey everybody, our elves are different!" DA didn't really seem to have any charm or spirit too it.

Who's gonna buy DA:O - Awakening? Know I'm going to buy it for sure, tough i still need to finish the first one.
Maybe after i finish ME2.

In my ever so humble opinion, ME2 is probably Bioware's third worse CRPG. Only above NWN1 and KotOR1. Dragon Age is one of their best games, siting proudly next to BG2 and ME1.

In my opinion trying to compare different games of same/similar genre is a very difficult thing to do.

Its like trying to compare DAO with Oblivion they are similar but very different, or Modern Warfare with Gears of War, pointless.

Now comparing ME1 to ME2 that makes more sense, just my opinion though

If you own both of them, what is the point of asking which is better? You already have them so you dont have to make a decision between them.

They are both very good games in a different way, but if i have to judge their qualities objectively, it's DAO by a long shot.

ME2 is a streamlined, dumbed version of ME1 with some improvements and a lot of disappointments.

DA is much deeper in character interaction and i actually cared what i did in DA because of how my party would react. In ME2 it...doesn't really matter beyond taking paragon or renegade points.

During mission your party won't even react to almost anything you do, it's like they are not there, except for the special missions you do for them

While playing DA i had the feeling i had choice. Where to go, what to do with my party and my char. I had choice in the combat system. In ME2 i feel like everything is fed through a tube to me, i am hold by the hand so i don't even have to think or do anything in a different way - go there - shoot everything, done.

It's just a very well done techinacly game, very polished, very well thought out to please the mass market crowd of console players out there. It is enjoyable, but not as deep, variable and customizable as DA.

It's a shame there is no a deep and strong Sci-fi RPG as DA is in fantasy.

I recommend you play both games, they both have good value in a different way.

I enjoy playing both of them, just don't expect one and the same thing of them both.

I'm both a huge fan of the BG and NWN games, and one of the people who was upset at the lack of RPG in ME2, but I honestly feel ME2 is a better game.

DAO hands down. Even though I far prefer the Mass Effect universe and IP, and I feel ME2 is presented better cinematically and has a better story, DAO is by far the superior game. It has far less flaws and is a far deeper and more complex RPG. ME2 is very shallow by comparison... even moreso than the original game.

Ha... I'd say that DA:O has way more flaws. I just don't see how the tedious, old-fashioned, and agonizing loot accumulation system or the endless room-after-room-after-room of the same boring enemies make it more complex or deeper. Those things just make it longer. Out of the 72+ hours on my first playthrough, easily 30-40% of that was a total waste of time.

On the other hand, ME2 is about 48 hours, and 0% it is a waste of time. It is a far more elegant and polished game than DA:O. It's not even close.

Oh, you find the tedious, boring and absolutely uninteresting and time wasting scanning of planets, to be no waste of time?
But then find.....mmmm what? to be waste of time in DA?

So how are 3 differently colored merc types you fight all the time in ME2 any different?
I say in ME2 combat is much less variable and customizable than in DAO. All you do is shoot the same type of mercs just colored in a different outfit.

They are two different games with two different play styles. If there's one thing I learned in this many years of gaming, it is that there is no definite good or best game that everyone should play despite what many and review sites would have you believe. It always comes down to what you like and enjoy. Different strokes for different folks.

For me, overall ME2 is the better game. DAO had some flaws and many bugs. Though they're both very good.
