Maybe Im hallucinating but has anyone else noticed warp ammo ability to shred shields? And I dont mean barriers, just regular kinetic shields.

I tried just using the hand cannon with warp ammo on an eclipse engineer with and without warp ammo and it seemed as if the warp ammo helped with destroying the engineers shield.

Yup, that's what warp ammo does. Soldier+Warp ammo=WIN!

i'm pretty sure ammo still gives a damage bonus no matter the type.

It shouldn't. Warp ammo = health/armor/barriers.

Warp ammo simply adds a damage bonus rather than a type-specific bonus. For instance, heavy warp ammo adds 50% damage regardless of protection used.

Even then, it should only be Health/Barriers or Armor/Barriers as it makes AP ammo useless compared to Warp.

AP Ammo, when maxed, does 20% more damage to armor and health per shot. This adds up like nuts on rapid fire weapons -- after 5 shots, an AR with AP ammo is doing 100% more damage to armor and health.

TBH, it's all up to preference. Soldiers have Concussive Shot to deal with barriers.

I don't really care truthfully, but it shouldn't work that way :P

Concidering AP can do 20% more damage to armor and health its hardly useless. Shredder ammo is useless, Cryo Ammo is useless. Warp is the most effective versus all methods of defence, AP is better versus Armor and Health but not effective at all against shields or barriers.

I took AP on my Sentinel as I had Warp and Overload to get past shield and barrier.

ARP is 20% higher on health/armor, its superior to both of those types. Warp also effects barriers at the cost of 20% damage. Neither are really 'superior' when compared, both have benefits and weaknesses that depend on your playstyle and class.

I've discovered that Squad Cryo is a Vanguard's best friend.  Well, that and Quicksave.

Keep in mind Warp Ammo also does bonus damage if the target is under effect by Biotics.

I think the point is that warp ammo is apparently bugged if it is good against all sorts of resistances as that is not what it says in its description.

I think the reason Warp Ammo appeared to be effective against shields is because the topic starter was using an SMG. SMGs are effective against shields, has nothing to do with Warp Ammo.

Btw, themaxzero, Warp Ammo only does bonus damage if the target is affected by biotics AND has no protection. Read the fine print. It says "does bonus damage to HEALTH".

Maths does not work that way.

Now granted I don't really know the source facts but from what you said after 5 shots it would still have done 20% more damage. I.e. 6 shots' worth rather than 5. Not 10.

Unless you meant an extra 100% of one shot, in which case - English does not work that way.
