Got reply from Swedish support and was told to remove any virtual disks like Daemon tools and that NONE of their games support 64bit OS and that might be the prob.

Oh yea I guess I don't buy the Addon then, poor answer. Mass Effect 2 runs perfect btw, no crash EVER!

I was planning on getting all DLCs and the expansion, not much point now that I can't use it and apparently can't have support either as I run a unsupported OS (Win 7 64).

I don`t know much about ATI cards since i`ve never used them but some suggestions i could make are make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers as well as latest BIOS drivers for your system also if you have any beta drivers or beta software installed either disable or uninstall them. From my experience beta software and drivers can create all sorts of problems because they are being tested by whomever uses them .Will do some checking .if i find anything useful will post it here

If you`re unsure if you can run DA you can check by going to http://cyri.systemre...lab.com/srtest/ and select Dragon Age

Oh I KNOW it runs on Win 7 64, I've been running the game just fine since release.. it's after new years that it suddenly have started crashing like mad and the comment on 64bit os was from support... When asking for help they stated that their games doesn't support 64bit...

I think what he`s talking about is downloading an exe. usually from a gaming website such as gamecopyworld or gameburnworld that allows you to play a game without using a disk

That would be an interesting experiment I guess... if it works fine like that I guess the DLM system and copyprotection is to blame somehow.

As far as upgrading nvidia drivers i believe you have to disable antivirus  so that the drivers can configure themselves properly and i would say that ati would probably be the same way. After doing a search it seems that alot of people with ati 3 and 4 series cards are having problems

Girl on a Rock i would suggest that you go to your computer manufacturer if you haven`t already done so and search for driver and software updates for your model and OS .Sometimes a driver or software update or firmware update can alleviate some problems .Also make sure that you have the latest BIOS motherboard drivers if they are available.

Thanks, Tommy! Anything's worth a try at this point - I'm so frustrated about this. :(

Been there, done that.. nothing helps

even tested the 'cracked' exe (no-dvd) and it made no difference.

Having pretty much the same problem... DAO used to run fine, got RTO and patch 1.02 and now after a few minutes fps plummets and I start hearing static and scratchy noises in the background and them it crashes. But I'm not crashing to desktop the whole computer is turning itself off. Just shutting down. What's up with that?
Reading this thread doesn't appear that anyone has an answer, just sent an email to Bioware today but from what I'm reading here it doesn't seem likely I'll hear anything anytime soon. Posting my specs below and would really appreciate some help as to make this game work again.

Chris it may be that you `re having a heat problem being that your system is shutting down that`s usually what happens when cpu overheats there are some free utilities out there that monitor cpu and gpu . you might try furmark that way you can heat up your vid card without playing a game and you can see results in real time. Other utilities are cpuz and gpuz hopefully these will point in the right direction. Another thing you could try if you haven`t already is diskcheck, and defrag

I share your problem! My Win 7 environment played DOA Collectors Edition beautifully under Patch 1.01. When I added RtO I got the message in the download screen that I needed to apply the 1.02a patch and either run the Installer or visit the DOA site. The site was down when I visited and I was uneasy about risking my history by re-running the Installer so am running RtO under 1.02a. The game is now significantly less fluid and I am getting crashes - even the Blue-Screen-of-Death under Win7 Ultimate which is unusual.

Question: 1. Any ideas what will happen to my game history if I re-run the installer? 2. Will this fix the crashing?

Thanks ...

Reinstalled all relevant drivers. Have the most up-to-date BIOS possible. I just don't know what to do anymore. I really regret ever having even looked at RtO.

Girl have you tried to change settings to low, unchecking persistant gore, unchecking vsync, or going to a lower screen resolution to get past the point where it crashes. Also i read somewhere that if you change a setting in your dragon age .ini file that might help.Hang in there and we`ll see if we can get you through this

Dpne all that and it's not a point to get across.. just hitting F5 to save or trying to access menue, opening a door or just seeing a new area will instantly crash...

Tommy: Sadly, DeIssan is right in that it's a random sort of thing. It's happened mid-dialogue scene, during a battle, or as DeIssan says, opening a door. I've played with my settings some, and still nothing. :( I don't know what to do anymore. BioWare still hasn't written me back, and it's been five days now.

This may be a windows 7 issue since this is a fairly new os. Also have either of you tried compatibility mode

I haven't - do you think Win 7 would come into conflict with just the patch/the DLC? Because the whole rest of the game was working up to this point...

If other stuff also had problems I would buy it, but all other games works flawlessly so it's clearly a DAO problem. Also it only recently started (for me at least) with only two small changes to anything, one was I bought RtO (but don't have it downloaded anymore) and the otehr was I switched to a USB keyboard.
