They are racist :P

Kidding. Maybe they don't care because he doesn't have an exotic/bizarre/eccentric personality like the others who have a weird twist on how they view life and reality.

Jacob is just the guy who's cool, he's a normal soldier, he has moral standards. That's about it. No quirks. Bioware fans love the quirks.

I like him and especially Zaeed. But Jacob blows in Combat.

I like Jacob, he's the Paragon to Miranda's Renegade.  I like his line when he gives Shepard a bro hug.
"We live, we get LOUD!  And spill some drinks on the Citadel." Posted Image

In every poll I've seen, Zaeed tends to be the least popular

I don't "hate" jacob, but i would say he is my least favorite squadmate.

the Zaeed thing is what I don't understand. there certainly isn't as much depth to Zaeed's character (basically just a revenge thing), but i think he's awesome nonetheless.  the whole scene where you first run into him on Omega is awesome. never get tired of hearing him say GODAM either.

I didn't hate Jacob, he's the only Bro shepard had man. Well, Wrex too. They're the only ones with the bro hug and handshake.

Yeah, I didn't dislike Jacob, he was just a little dull and didn't bring much to the table during combat. I thought his loyalty mission was pretty dull; they could have given him something a lot more exciting. I did like how he kind of became ManShep's buddy on the Normandy, though I wish they'd have done more with that than just have Jacob keep repeating that "We'll spill some drinks on the Citadel" line.

He's alright.

But the female romance with him is so bad, I feel for him, I really do.

But he is terrible in combat, no question.

I don't hate him, I stole his barrier power, and I'm going to spill some drinks on the Citadel with him later, but I don't usually take him in my squad because he's not as useful as Mordin, he screams "no one's gonna hurt me now" everytime he powers up barrier and my femShep was inappropriately friendly with him right off the bat and that creeped me out.

He needed an actual armor suit like Shepard, Garrus, Grunt, and all the mercs in the game. I would have used him way more then. He's a solider, but he's wearing a flight suit outfit, like Joker should be wearing. Jacob needed armor.

Jacob himself is perfectly fine in my book, it's not him that I don't like, but the actual approach our Shepard, especially Female Shepard has with him. I've said this often but I'll repeat it for this thread. When Female Shepard goes talking to Jacob on the Normandy she kind of take some leaning back posture and talks to him in suggestive voice tone, you know, like "c'mon baby do me something"-type of dirty talk... I couldn't role-play that at all, BioWare took the control of the situation by doing so, they (BioWare) basically say «See? You hear how she talks to him? She's obviously crazy about him, BETRAY YOUR ME1 LOVE INTEREST NOW!»... ermm... no thanks. I'd rather have a "normal" and Commander'ish professional talk with Grunt and starting a "normal" LI with him than being "forced" to see my FemShep talking like that to Mr. Joe new Cerberus guy I don't know anything about.

THAT is what I didn't like "about him", the whole approach thing with him. And since the Shepard's animations are the same for both sexes I don't even want to imagine how stupid it must look seeing a Male Shepard leaning back like that when talking to him. But anyway, that's how I perceive it myself, fine if others disagree you have your own tastes, I for one just don't like it, why can't my Shepard just have a normal conversation with Jacob as much as with ALL other party members on the ship? WHY is it that she leans back for Jacob and NOT for... say... Tali? Garrus? Joker? KELLY!? No?

That's it yeah.

DEFINITELY agree with you there. I was completely sickened by my Sheps overt flirting. It was so tasteless, I honestly avoided him like the plague after the first couple of times. I was scared to talk to him because I couldn't seem to manage it without panting after him.

He was quite a pleasant surprise. Very nice, friendly, and honest. Not what I was expecting given who he's working for.

He's a bit of a dick to Tali when you first recruit her, that and his general blandness was enough for me.

I think you're confusing 'not liking' with 'hating'. I don't think many people hate Jacob. However, a lot of people don't like him. He doesn't have enough going for him to make people like or hate him.

I think the telling moment for me was when I was trying to think of funny lines from all of the characters and I couldn't think of a single memorable or entertaining thing Jacob had said. That's not good.

I feel sorry for him a little bit. He was all cool in ME: Galaxy, could use assault rifles, had a little thing going on with Miranda, and probably even had a waist...

And in ME2 it's like, "Step aside, SHEPARD'S in town now!"

Don't dislike him, and I admit for "male lead" I prefer him to Kaiden.

I don't hate or dislike him. But he's the most... normal character in your squad. He's basically 'the average guy', just like Kaidan in ME1.

Jacob is quite alright in my book, i just dont use him for the simple reason i can see his ass cheeks in that tight spandex suit. Heh. =D

Zaeed was my least favorite character.

I like Jacob a lot...as a friend. The bro-hug you get with him is epic. :) But as a romance? *shudders* No way...not with those lines of his. XD

Jacob is the Paragon Shepard. Garrus is the Renegade Shepard. His overall combat and power loadout is not very effective for higher difficulty play. I used Jacob until I rounded up Garrus and Tali as replacements, and then I replaced Garrus with Legion once I acquired "Geth".

Overall I liked him from a Paragon standpoint, though I agree with others that they way Shepard interacts with him seems a bit leisurely. Jacob even calls Shepard out on that with some of his replies, at least the male Shepard.

I don't hate Jacob. As a romance i prefer kaidan better than Jacob/Thane/Garrus. I like Jacob as a friend for my femShep, his personality is not the best among the squad, but is nice.

I like Jacob. He has one of the best character models in the game, a good voice actor who actually puts some serious work into his part, and his character arc with his Father is one of my favorite loyalty missions.

I didn't take Jacob on a lot of missions with me because his powers didn't compliment mine, but I always enjoyed his parts in the cinema scenes and the conversations with him.

The fact that my femshep hits on him no matter what I do was super obnoxious. I stopped talking to him for a while because I was worried I would get stuck romancing him, it's like they forgot to add a casual conversation option when you talk to him the first few times.

I had to fight my way to hit on Thane and Garrus, but Jacob automatically assumes I'm trying to get in his pants...

plus he was bland. I liked having him around as a friend, but I wouldn't miss him...ever.
