I wouldn't say I hate him he just never seemed needed. He was just there t be your male human sqaudmate like Vega neither of them I found interesting as characters, but I don't hate him.

He always switches out my squad ammo for incendiaries even though mine is better. It's really quite annoying.

Plus, he's really pretty boring. We've already got one soldier on the team with a troubled past and a romance that they can't quite leave behind, and that's Shepard. What does he add, aside from probably the least useful biotic power in the game? If you can't learn Shockwave at least learn Warp, guy.

Well, I guess Barrier's not so bad.

I never found him to be an annoying character, so I don't actively dislike him. But he is somewhat underdeveloped, although not as underdeveloped as Vega.

He is a bore and overall I just find him annoying. On a new game I simply cannot wait until I get another member (usually Zaeed) so that I can kick Jacob out of my team for the rest of the game.

I agree that I should have the option to tell him to shut up whenever he questions me brining a new member into the ship (it is not like the Illusive Man didn't personally hand me the dossiers, no).

I have no beef with him. his powers suck. I only dislike jack more because she gets swatted down like she has hunter mode!
maranda is the turian sent. good on all squads/sheps.
late game thane can do his job better and gets sniper /smg combo
he is ok if you need his ammo type on a biotic team or a tank biotic I suppose...

I don't hate Jacob at all. I kind of like him, but unfortunately there are so many other interesting characters in the game (Tali, Garrus, Liara, Mordin...) that he becomes a bit anonymous. I don't dislike him, I just find him rather uninteresting.

I have taken such a dislike to him that i let him get killed on the SM. So i save Brynn from ever meeting the cheating toe rag.

So, do you not get the mission with Brynn or do you get called by some generic Cerberus defector to defend the scientists?

^From what i understand you have to work harder to earn Brynn's trust if jacob is not around. Its a sacrifice i can live with.

Jacob started out okay (questioning Cerberus's motives) but was a bland one trick pony character. Even the loyalty mission never gets to expand on any personality. I also didn't like some of the play to the stereotype ( cheats on FemShep between 2 and 3)  and the Citadel dialogue at Huerta memorial is appallingly laughable.
If there were ever a character that needed dying in the suicide run, it's him. What's even more sadder is no option to even enlist him in the first place. I'd have left him on the Lazarus project station to ( in Miranda's words) "rot with the mechs"

I personally don't hate him, but i find him a little dull. Plus, Garrus and Tali are my favourite people (other than Anderson) in the whole ME series, so naturally i always have them with me.

I liked him in me2 but he just seemed off putting in me3 so I went back and didn't do his loyalty mission and brought him along to fight the human reaper at least he got a hero's death

I don't think there's anything to hate about Jacob (in ME2 at least). I didn't mind him and thought he made a pretty good contrast to Miranda at the beginning of the game. However, as the game progressed I noticed there really wasn't anything about him that would have particularly grabbed my interest. There was hardly any character development. I just found him rather... bland, generic. He didn't annoy but he didn't intrigue either which really isn't that good trait in a character. I like them to awake some kind of emotions; whether it's annoyance or attachment. Plus I pretty much never used him as a squad mate since I found his powers inferior to others.

Okay, maybe not something to hate him for but I showed my wife that bit and she pulled one of those get-that-weirdo-away-from-me faces that women do sometimes. Her verdict: creep.

And of course my wife is always right.

I had never seen that scene before but now I went and found it from Youtube and... yeah. That was bad

I don't hate Jacob. It is just that bioware didn't develop him in a way that would appeal to everyone. His role in mass effect 3 was minuscule, I was hoping for a come back in his image.

I didn't mind Jacob in ME2 at all - I actually liked that they didn't exaggerate character traits about him like they did with other characters (i.e. Garrus becoming Space Batman). I don't know, I actually like to see how "normal" (I mean, he's a biotic and what not) people react to extraordinary situations.

In ME3, his appearance is pretty uninspired though and if you romanced him in ME2 (as one of my FemSheps did) it's downright terribly handled.

I liked him just fine. He was a nice, sane counterweight to all the crazy and family issues aboard my ship. I didn't like how he was basically the victim of a temper tantrum in ME3.

"You guys didn't love this character? WELL FINE NOW HE SUCKS." Pbbt.
