Actually, I'd rather take a hit from a laser beam than a shotgun + shockwave combo. At least the laser beam doesn't knock you back and leave you as vulnerable.

You have fight, what, 2, in the whole game? Granted the one on the collector ship is a nuisance because it's not alone, but they're not hard to bring down.

Seeing as the things are so hell bent on lasering Shep into oblivion they ignore your squadmates it's entirely possible to kill one without taking a shot yourself.

Ergo, Scions are worse. MUCH worse. imo

Praetorians aren't so bad. Get your squad to focus on husks, switch to heavy disruptor ammo, and pummel its **** with a Viper sniper rifle. When it lands, it doesn't attack you aside from that shockwave, so use that opportunity to move to new cover, then bring down its barrier with your Particle Beam, then repeat.

Oh wait, that's if you're a sweet **** soldier like I am.

I don't mind them at all, provided you only see 2 of them through regular gameplay (excluding the entire Joker sequence). They may be annoying and tough to kill, but they are mini-bosses of sorts.

Scions / Harbinger are where the pain is, they don't stop coming in with legions of help. On Insanity, I died once or twice on the Praetorian because it got me off guard but Harbinger brought me dozens of deaths.

I really had no trouble with the praetorians unless I made the mistake of being in the blast radius of its fat ass dropping to the ground. The scions, I felt, were much tougher. The scions' attacks would randomly slip past cover. The eye lasers won't do that.

I was praying that one didn't show up in the collector base, and voila! none appeared. Scions appeared a lot though. I hate scions. A lot.

Praetorians are pretty fun enemies actually, mostly because they can cause dread for a newbie. The best thing to do when facing one is have a lot of ground to retreat to.

Finished my Insanity playthrough last night and to be honest... they were nowhere near the hardest fights in the game... on lesser difficulties they are however.

On insanity I just found a pillar or group of tall boxes to run around in circles around. Teammates would take out the barrier while I ran around in circles, I attack when barrier is down.

Harbinger was a cake walk, I thought. Fully upgraded battle rifle with heavy disruptor ammo, concussive shot from squad-mates, and you rip him to shreds. Once, I killed Harbinger before he even touched the ground.

Scions, on the other hand, are a ****.

I just beat the game on insanity, and I have no idea who the enemy you're talking about is... must have meant it wasn't tough for me

I also see a lot of people saying that the scions are tough, but I found them to be no more difficult then any other andom enemy. What about them makes them so tough?

EDIT: OH! The mini-boss guy? He was pretty easy as a soldier. Adrenal Rush + Assualt Rifle raped its barrier, and then the Widow raped its shields. Rinse and repeat.

The fact that they are always just after YOU is what is aggravating. Your squad runs all around them but they just float on your butt and constantly fire the laser. Sheesh!!! I have to just keep running and hiding behind whatever I can and warp/incinerate etc to get them down.

At least Scions move really slow, Praes are on you in five seconds. Not fun! XD

Freakin crabs with death eyes. At least there is only a few of them and as long as you can play follow the leader with cover they are fairly easy to kill.

The scions however, with their little shockwaves that randomly go through cover. They need to go to a lovely little corner of hell.

F*CK SCIONS. the praetorians got me a couple times because I couldn't find cover, but the scions like to pwn my squad and then 2-shot me while im in cover.

I hate Praetorians mostly because they're a pain in the ass to fight while retreating and they happen to come after Scions and tons of Husks. Aside from that, they're not too bad and actually look pretty cool, unlike Scions, which resemble some sort of Flood form.

True story: I brought the Cain with me to Horizon to deal with the Praetorian, ended up using it on those two Scions that show up before the Praetorian. Probably would've been worse for me if I didn't have the Revanent equipped with DIsruptor ammo, Miranda with fully upgraded Warp and Overload, and Subject Zero with Shockwave, but it still sucked.

You think those husks in the praetorians talk to each other?

I'm pretty sure my squad hates them a lot more than I do.  "QUICK GUYS IT'S ABOUT TO AOE!  RUN IN GOGOGOGOGO"... "Requesting Aid!"  "Aaaaargh"

Just ignore the squad deaths, kite them around, don't let them get unobstructed LOS... they aren't that bad.  Every time you fight one the game gives you plenty of room to maneuver.  There are YMIR encounters that are harder due to bad terrain.

Yeah... they say "whoa, check out the ass on that chick that just ran into our AOE"
