Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

Bioware wants you to spend less time talking and more time saving the galaxy

I'm pretty sure I've reached the end of both Jacob and Grunt's trees, but everyone else, even after the mission is finished, apparently has better things to do. Well, Jack is confused about the relationship between her and Shepard, and Tali is somehow confused about the fact that Shepard isn't interested in a relationship with her, but whatever. Miranda's filing paperwork, Samara is meditating, Legion is building consensus, Mordin is coducting mad science for fun and justice--which I approve of--Thane is being emo, Zaeed doesn't count, and Garrus is performing calibrations.
?

LOL!  "Legion is building consensus"  For a machine that can supposedly make decisions in FTL speeds, this consensus is taking forever!  I must agree though, I feel the dialogue trees were lacking with some characters.  Mordin however, was fine!  That guy is amazing.  As for Garrus, everytime I saw him look away from me I thought, "WTF, how can you still be calibrating these guns!!"  And yes, Zaeed doesn't count.

The man (or turian in this case) clearly suffers from OCD

Yeah why doesn't Garrus say anything? It's very annoying because you have to walk that long damn cryotube bay to talk to him and it's like "oh peace out shepard i'm calibrating ****."

I wish Kelly would alert you to when they want to talk about just normal stuff and not just their loyalty quests.

Fine Garrus, I'll just go chill with Thane. He's a better dresser anyway.

Thane gets mad extra credit for being the only romanceable squadmate with lots of non-romance dialogue.

Srsly.  I couldn't ever even get Jacob's romance dialogue to open up at all (but I had already been flirting with both Garrus and Thane, I guess the game limits you to two at a time? Because double-timing two characters is okay, but mack on 3 and now you're a ****...). I did his loyalty mission and everything, and I think he told me about how we were gonna get crunk on the Citadel almost as many times as Garrus blew me off.  Of course...I had quasi-dumped Garrus so I guess I had it coming...:pinched:

Shepard, I'm not a fan of forcing these talks.

Indeed. Even when he's blowing you off, Mordin is still hilarious. It's obvious he was the favourite character of at least one or two writers.

This was a piece of my biggest problem with ME2. The dialog and interaction with the characters is amazing in the first half, but then it starts to fade off, and you realize that the game is running out of dialog content. For example, I loved how even the secondary characters on your ship would ask you for things and talk to you, but after you help them out, they don't have anything else to say.

With the other characters, they don't say much once you complete their loyalty mission. Thane was the exception, and I loved hearing about his progress with his son. I wish the other characters had more to say, or even better, had more missions involving them. I'm crossing my fingers for DLC.

I like how Tali asks if you're interested in her and you can respond "I don't want to risk your health, but I'm willing to wait." Even after the suicide mission if over and you've plumbed her pipes.

You just know he's playing Bass Effect on that computer, the game where you must save the world from a mecha bass. (The fish AND the instrument.)

Or maybe he's playing the nasty porn games from Shin Akiba. Remember, every game you buy gets you 2 credits for another game!

I think Joker is the only one playing the Asari/Hanar porn game, stand by his seat at the front of the Normandy long enough and you'll see what I mean.

I am under the impression Garrus really has no idea what he is doing down there and just keeps hoping you won't call him on it.

I kind of wish there were fewer characters with more dialogue/squad interactions and more "plot" missions to build up the Collectors but I can't complain too much.

Thane is a sweetheart.

Hey, give the guy a break. Maybe he feels guilty for talking so much on the N-SR1. If he'd spent more time calibrating its weapons instead of talking to you, maybe your old crew would still be alive and you wouldn't have lost the ship and been spaced.

It's a guilt thing, let him work through it. Or get Kelly to speak to him about it. She's supposed to be a counsellor/psychologist yet she seems vastly inferior to Deanna Troi. What's the point of her being there if all she's going to do is tell you that you have new messages and hit on you? She won't even feed Boo... it's like the little guy doesn't even exist.

You know, he did have his entire team killed and half his face shot off less than a week ago; he might still be a bit sore in more ways than one. But...he's Garrus Vakarian, turian rebel. He's not going to appear weak in front of his C.O., so he goes for the "professional attention to detail" excuse.

Beating on the poor guy because he doesn't want to rip his stitches, for shame! You think dextro-calibrated medi-gel is free?

Mass Effect 2 made me hate all manner of calibrations that ever existed. Seriously, the level of dialogue he had was simply unacceptable. Especially since they brought him back because he was a fan favorite. Even with a lot of characters it would not have taken a lot of extra effort to add in a few more conversations. Does Garrus have more than 3? If they were short on time or cash or something, they should have cut some of the amusing but utterly pointless dialogue of some of the minor npcs you see walking around everywhere.Maybe Garrus actually had a cameo that was stretched out to look like it was a major role.

Garrus says so little because he's hastily making up his horrendously-written reasons for magically forgetting all of the character development that you dragged him through during the first game. Just like Tali.

You talk to Garrus a total of four times.

1. Post-recruitment.
2. Pre-Loyalty.
3. Post-Loyalty.
4. Post-Suicide Mission.

And that's not nearly enough when compared to say, a Thane or a Samara.

The only way I make up for his lack of dialogue is bringing him almost everywhere.

Garrus needs more dialogue. No more calibrations or diagnostics!

He loves calibrations since me1 and the mako. He takes his duty seriously.

It is even more sad that after you help him with Sidonis, if you let him kill Sidonis, he never speak again of the thing. The only way to get him to talk a bit of what has happened is to go the paragon way and then force him to speak before leaving the place. Really disappointing.

Some characters get to talk to you on disc 1, some on disc 2. After such a great recruitment mission so early on, it was a bit naff that the rest of his dialogue is in the second half.

Garrus doesn't need anymore dialogue, leave him to his calibrations and go read some fan fics! Much much more DETAILED, wink wink nudge nudge.  Image IPB
