Hi. I just played Mass Effect 2 on normal. Made my decisions. I'm starting again with same character. I will be making new decisions along the way. But, I want to know how the import works for Mass Effect 3? How will it know which game i want to import? My first save, level 25, or my, what will be 2nd say level like 50 shepard?

I don't want to alter my first path. I want those choices to stick.

Any help would be most appreciated. I know the game isn't like out anytime soon, but, just wondering. Thanks!

I imagine it'll work the same way the import system worked for Mass Effect 2. There's no real way of knowing though, they could very well change the system by the time they come out with ME3.

Now here's the real question will ME3 be on a 360? I mean two years from now the next system from Microsoft could be out. Natal might allow that to be pushed back. But what happens if the next system is out? How will we transfer saves then?

Just curious cause like since this game was great the 1st time through, those are the implications I want to carry to Mass Effect 3. I don't want to sway my decisions for 3 based on my selections in my 2nd Mass Effect 2 play, or 3rd. So not sure if I should just continue with my original and explore everything...but my ladies...there all gone! And the one i got hangin around, well she can't take her suit off and i kinda , after like 9 times trying, said "I can't its too dangerous" now all she wats to do is clean the engins n stuff damn Talia vas Normandy!!! I never made sexytime during the first play...man!

I got a feeling for the ps3 version. mass effect 2 you needed to extract the comic of mass effect decisions into the game since bioware wont make the first 1 on ps3. and it will be the same for mass effect to. all the decisions made, the character structure will be the same and who survives the suicide mission. it all adds up I figure that you start at ) but you keep everything except weapons, upgrades & levels even paragon/renegade points.

Hello, just a quick question about the importing characters from Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect 3, I completed Mass Effect 2 without doing a few of the extra missions (DLC mostly), it said that it is now classed as a cleared save file and that i can use it to start again with or I assume import to Mass Effect 3 when it comes out, obviously i would love to finish off the DLC and still have it linked to me save file, does the cleared save file constantly update as I save or will the 3rd game not register anything I have done since the moment I saved it after the final mission at the end of Mass Effect 2 (The suicide mission), just wanted to know is all as I will have to play the whole thing through again for the 3rd time if it doesn’t..... Not that that’s a bad thing. Thanks

I hope they have a selection menu where you can create a character to start of in ME3.

Example of what I mean:
I played ME2 on PC and loved it. Now that I have an xbox I wish I had bought the game for that. I won't be able to transfer saved files from PC to xbox. I could either A) buy ME2 for xbox or B) Hope you can input previous decisions into ME3 before playing it

I'm in the same situation as the OP. I want to start a new game using the same character, but not if it is going to override the choices of my first playthrough. If there is an answer to this question out there already, I haven't found it.

I can't really see the problem you seem to think you have. If you have imported from ME to ME2 you know full well that you can choose between your Shepards, even the new game plus ones; and the game recognises those as different characters anyway. It is safe to assume that ME3 will likely have a similar system of importing from ME2 where you can choose which Shepard you can import. I can't see why you (or anyone for that matter lest you think this personal) think that a previous character's decisions will be overwritten.

I do not understand the question.
It is my understanding that any save (normal or autosave) after the suicide mission can be imported into ME3
(I have succesfully imported a normal save in)

Magna's understanding is right. Any post-Suicide Mission is importable (or at least they should be under normal circumstances) into ME3. I will question what this 'certain' thing you are looking for is, because it isn't as if ME gave us anything certain.
