Also, might not even exist, as he is only ever seen from a holoprojector, he could be a wooly mammoth that just has a communication device programmed to project him as human so he can better communicate with his subjects.

This have been ruled out before, in the introduction of ME2 Miranda is seen in the same place as TIM.. talking to him so he`s pretty real..

As far as I'm aware all it does is indicate your alignment....and then which ending you chose, at which point it throws your alignment out the window

I thought I remember miranda telling me that even she has never seen the elusive man face to face. Maybe I just made it up, because i remember it striking me as odd at the time.
