I don't want to pick anyone, I became attached to anyone but if I had to it would be Garrus. There is no one else I like more than him.

Thane. He and Mordin were the only NEW squadmates I liked. Garrus I liked more in ME2 than in ME1, and I've always liked Tali as a character.

But seriously he was my favorite character for both 1 and 2 (although Wrex and Mordin were close runner-ups).

K, judging by usefulness in ME2 (on insanity) I'd pick Mordin....b/c he is always in my party and I use his "incineration blast" like crazy.



Biotics are useless on insanity so that counts out Samara, SuZe, and Jacob.



Miranda is mildly useful with an evolved warp power.



Soldiers have nothing but health.....and they still die quickly. Grunt and Zaeed are useless. That leaves Garrus....he is useful b/c of his overload power.



Haven't used Thane enough to have an opinion.



Tali and Legion are pretty worthless as well.... b/c there only power is AI hacking which, while fun to use, doesn't really help and tali's drone dies to quickly.



HOWEVER, after saying all that.....based upon usefulness I'd go with Mordin and based on just bad-ass-ness I'd pick Garrus. Everyone else as a squadmate is meh.

Garrus. How could they not include him? He's the ultimate bro. He took a rocket in the face and only got cool scars, and quit the Spectre training because it wasn't good enough for him. No way they'll take him out by backdoor politics.
