I've looked around, googled a bit and on the wikia... Nothing decisive on the matter.
I simply wonder what the total amount of spells is I can get on my mage. I heard someone say 24 somewhere, but I can't be sure of that.

So anyone here that knows anything about that?

About 24 is the estimate I've seen as well.

They need to make talent/spell calculators for this. If 24 is the case, I think my Mage should be re-made.

I actually did delete my game a few minutes ago to start over. I just made too many talent choices I later regretted and was getting tired of slogging through so many fights. Sure, I could win, but it was so tedious without a healer I finally lost patience. :P

It seems you get one talent per level, though at some point I was awarded two. Level 6 or 7 maybe? I didn't keep track. Assuming one reaches level 20 that's at least 22 talents you get to choose. This number may be off though. I'm not sure if any bonus talents are awarded in later levels. Also, it's possible to pick up an extra talent in the form of a book the camp merchant sells and as part of a quest reward; bringing the total to at least 24 for a 20th level character...

Alright. Good to know... Yeah I am not sure what way I was planning my Mage to go with yet... And still can't say I do. But currently my mage (main character) has five skills in Entropy, one in Creation and two in Spirit. I was thinking of maxing out both Entropy and Creation (Kind of a life / death mage scenario) but the Spirit is in the way if I want to pick up any Spirit Healing or some such... So I'll probably restart soon enough, just got to figure out what to go for and plan ahead more. Luckily I now got an idea of most of the spells though.

I've been told there are 3 Skill books for mages 2 for warriors/rogues and 1 generic so thats +4 to mage and +3 to fighter/rogue if you get them all.

I also got a bonus point sometime during the origin story iirc. You get +2 at creation and if you're a completionist you'll end the game around level 22.

so 3+21+4+(1?) for mages or 3+21+3+(1?) for rogues/warriors.

You start with one spent and two available, that's three total at level 1. You get 1 bonus point for the Joining and you get one bonus point at Landsmeet. As a result, you should have your level +3 after you complete Ostagar and your level +4 after you complete Landsmeet. I'm not aware of any skill books, if there are any then that would be added on top of that.

The max number of talents achievable in game for mages is 32 for a total of 8 full spell trees. Figure as follows:

26 talents from leveling including 2 at first level; the cap is 25 which I tested this morning. Elsewhere I read devs indicated you will get to between 22 and 25 by the end of the game.

1 talent is already spent on arcane bolt; if you choose to not max this line then you can only max 7 lines with 3 to spend elsewhere. The end of this line gives a perma increase to spell power so I am not sure why you wouldn't personally.

1 talent from becoming a gray warden.

3 talents from the mage specific books which can be purchased at 3 different vendors.

1 talent from the generic book useable by any class which you purchase from a vendor.

Happy planning.

the generic book only give skill, not talents, however u get 1 more from completing landsmeet, so the total count is still correct, although it is impossible to get lvl 25, i cleared 90% of the side quests, only got to 22, so lvl 25 is not possible atm. aka a planning of 28 points is more viable.

There's another talent book too. The one I alluded to in my earlier post. If you take the desire demon up on its offer you can ask for a bonus talent, which it gives you in the form of a "book". (Its description says otherwise, but it looks like a book in the inventory.) The only problem is it forces you to resolve that quest in a specific way many players won't go for.

In any case that is way more talents than I imagined. I'm a bit surprised you can earn that many by endgame. (Assuming level 21-22, not 25)

25 impossible? I'm lvl 19 right now and still have 1 whole army gathering quest to do.. not to mention all the side quests in that area, plus landsmeet and everything after it. Try turning in gems runes and money in camp for xp... it really helps with lvling.

Regardless, planning for what you'll have at 22 or 25 is kind of silly. Not much point in building a character around what they'll have for the last 1% of the game. I'd be much more concerned with how many talents you'll have at 10, 15, 20.

Which desire demon are you talking about?

The desire demon possessing Connor in the Redcliffe castle quest line. If you enter the Fade to confront the demon instead of killing Connor outright, it offers you a deal to spare its life. It then grants you one boon if you agree. A bonus talent is one of the choices. Another is unlocking Blood Mage or raising party approval, ect...
