And that was the EXACT reason I sacrificed Alistair to Morrigan's little ritual. Now while he has a little demon baby running around somewhere, Leliana and I are doing just great. (Hope Awakening won't screw that up.)

It will. ;)

I really think Bioware dug their own grave with the multiple endings because it's just impossible to cater for all of them in the sequel AND bring back the companions.

O.O WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT!? Its possible!
In my ending the maker took away the ashes errrm somebody did but the maker goes to leliana and says hey your going to be with your lover again, aka here take my brides ashes and put them in his mouth ! It would be very simple!

They'd better bloody deliver! Image IPB

No Leliana = RAGE mode on.

But then again, let's have some hope in Bioware, and hope that they'll somehow won't screw it up.

Are you sure though? Because I thought it could just as likely mean that she thought she would die soon - not that she would necessarily bring it about herself.

I think she will revive me with the urn of sacred ashes!

LOL, i don't think so, she committed suicide, is what I think is the right choice if you're finished the game with romance with her and haven't hardened leliana.

terrible explanation but may explain that she does not appear if you started as the expansion as the commander in orlais.

wynne said that the relationship could end badly for both:(:(

Leliana has a camoe but i am alittle angry that awakening splits them up.
(awakening does screw that up.) Everyone that was with leliana gets screwed over.

And you know this how?  For all I've read it is just as possible that Leliana returns to Ferelden with your character and performs some duty in camp while you go off and adventure with your new companions ... or perhaps she and Zev are running assassination missions for you and you can meet up with them for brews and a nooner before heading back to the bleak dark.  Just because she isn't likely to be a member of your party doesn't mean she won't be an important part of the story.

I just hope they don't pull an ME2 on us and have all our old friends tell us to bugger off.

or
maybe you have a house with her in lothering, with one family, a child,
why not?, and you and  leliana are rebuilding the town when suddenly appears Ogren
to recruit you to a mission ordered by the king, too much imagination
but would be ideal

What would really be interesting is if you played an Orlesian Warder and saved Leliana from killing herself. Anyway, Awakenings is just an expansion. Isn't there a DA2 in the works?

In my Ultimate Sacrifice ending I saw Ser Cauthrien at my funeral. She wouldn't hold a grudge against me, considering I chopped her head off. My codex entry registered her as dead too, but there you have it. Dead people can come back to life after all.

Maybe your romance partner from DA:O is the McGuffin in DA:A. We don't know yet what will happen with that. Nothing is confirmed. Nothing has even been hinted regarding the romances. So make conjecture all you want. But until we either hear an official announcement or see it in game, we don't know.

Do you even understand the concept of a soul?  Even if the writers came in and tried to "word of god" that the soul is destroyed it wouldn't be so.  The soul is a timeless, placeless, and boundary-less enitity... basically, that means it exists, existed, and will exist at every possible moment.  Destroying it is impossible.

the "soul" is nothing more or less than what the writers say it is. you write the story you make the rules.

uh... that makes... wait, yes, it makes NO sense at all.

whatever a "soul" may be in the real world (and i believe people have been searching for that answer for... at least few dozen millenia?) in the universe of Dragon Age, the soul is whatever the writers say it is. so if they go "word of god" about it, there is no "try" there is simply "that's it"

There are any number of ways to split Leliana and your player up. I just hope it is not a permanent break-up, unless of course she dies.  Of course Leliana dead = scorched earth policy from then on.  :crying:

From what the game told me, when a grey warden kills the archdemon, the archdemon's soul tries to inhabit the same body of the warden but 2 souls can't live in the same body and both souls are destroyed meaning the warden and archdemon die. So if you want to flame someone, blame the writers. PS. I was not expecting those kinds of responses XD

Hmm. I always assumed that just meant your body was destroyed. Funny the different interpretations we take. :)

I don't think they did screw themselves with all these endings though...at least they don't HAVE to screw themselves over....

They can narrow companions down and orchestrate certain "realities" in the game as it progresses....

All but 2-3 of the main NPC's can be logically written out of the story...

Does it matter if you made Alistair king or not? He could still end up there by Awakenings through other events...quite logically actually...all sorts of reasons to make him king...I don't think this is hard to "write" into the story...

Same with most of the companions...several in fact...like Sten, Shale, Wynne, Loghain & Morrigan leave plenty of reasons not to be around as companions by the time Awakenings takes place.....

and if you write it so Alistair ends up as king which it certainly appears is the case...then that really only leaves a few companions left....

I am not convinced Oghren is the returning companion...in fact it never states in ANY of his endings that he accompanies the PC...he CAN however become a general in the Fereldan army...meaning he could be a temporary companion, which would make sense...

It is Leliana & Zevran IMO where the complications start to occur...I mean to write them out of the continuing story becomes more difficult...do you suddenly kill them off at the start of Awakenings? (or worse in a written prologue)...That seems pretty weak to me, particularly since they are "romanceable" characters whom many players surely would have a vested game interest in...

But even with that, that leaves 2 characters plus the dog? that they would have to return as possible companions....I don't see that as too complex to add....certainly looks very doable to me...

and of course you have a few of the others: Alistair, Wynne, Oghren provide cameos or maybe even serve as a temporary companion...

I just don't see how they write out Leliana or Zevran in a meaningful manner...all the other can logically be done....

Gah! I desperately need to know what's gonna happen to Leliana (and other romances)!
Bioware, I beg of you, reveal it in a very, very near future.  Image IPB

how do you know, tahts what the chantry says...and the chantry lies.

I know because the developers have said several times that there's no coming back from the dead in Thedas. Oh, something might possess your corpse and have it drag its moldy butt around, but if you sacraficed the Warden, they're not coming back.

As far as I'm concerned, my Warden sacrificed himself for the sake of mankind- and was reborn as a near-demigod.  He bears the Warden's taint still, but it never consumes him; indeed, he walks through the ages, eternally youthful and eternally powerful, acting as the benevolent stranger who's deeds range from saving a small village from bandits to slaughtering darkspawn armies.  All this time, he remains but a rumor- a legend, whispered to believers and skeptics alike.  Surely, he's nothing but a tale; the real man died at the battle of Denerim... didn't he?

Ahh, fan interpretations, how I love you.
