OK so thinking about what has happened over 2 games so far, the first was mainly an experiment give us some tough choices as to what we should do, who should live etc, and then for the first time put the choices we made in the first game have an impact (how ever minor) in the second.

And back on topic,
Currently I am betting on small parts for each and every squad mate we have had to this point.  Perhaps one mission or more (Liara only I think).

The third game is has to focus on Shepard uniting the galaxy against the Reaper Threat and the final battle.  So all of the actions I am explaining below are with Shepard moving things along EVEN if I don't mention it..

So looking at all the Races of our squad mates so far I think that many of them will end up as an ambassador to their race/organization.

Case in point Wrex he has gone back to his home world to unite his clans. But you can kill him in ME1 I know, Bioware tossed Grunt in as a replacement for Wrex if you killed him in ME1.

Yes, Grunt can die in ME2 but they put Mordins loyalty quest in so there is the possibility of a cure for the Genophage, ok so we could have Mordin delete that data.  That leaves two choices for Bioware, one; Mordin's pupil had sent a copy someware else (doubtful as its too convienet, but possible), two; The Krogan are one the first races wiped out by the Reapers. Or we did not do Mordins loyalty quest and his pupil cures the Genophage and the Krogan save the day.

Ash/Kai will end up convincing the Alliance with Anderson the threat is real.  This is the only 'almost' guaranteed plot point I can think of.

Liara, along with Samara will make the Asari see what is coming. or just Liara with Shepard.

The Geth will come to peace with Tali's race(can't remeber the name atm), because of the action of the masses on her loyalty quest.  But the option is out there that we never recruited either Legion or Tali and they end up in a major war or Tali's people end up taking control of the geth again and help out in the coming fight.  Or you sided with Legion and the Geth exterminate Tali's people.
(I really want to make a flow chart of all these choices)

So I am tired and can't write any more on this topic.   I will try to edit this to add more of what I think is going to happen inthe 3rd and final game.

and I think I just might spend an hour making a flow chart.. (anyone know of any online utilities to make one?)
