Out of nowhere? Tali's been one of the most popular characters since ME1 was released.

Tali fans don't like her for her ability in combat. It's her personality and character. Anyway, I found her really useful. Her combat drone is a savior. Energy drain is great for those annoying shields.

She's great in both games. And fun to have around.

In relation to the total number of consumers of ME, there aren't. Tali fans are just REALLY vocal.

Combat drone is perhaps one of the best anti-Harbinger, anti-Scion skills in the game. For this reason, Tali is a godsend on Insanity, especially during geth-heavy missions.

Oh dear god this.

I like Tali's character.

I swear that 8000 reply thread is going to get her killed out of spite in ME3.

They were always around.

I am one of them. I just didn't spend a whole ton of time on the bioware forums before.
but from time to time i dropped by, yeah Tali fans were there, they're weren't as many of them.

Frankly at the end of Mass Effect 1 i figured we'd never see her again, that she'd go back to the Flotilla and that was the end of that. despite her being my favorite character.

I was surprised and happy to see in Mass Effect 2 that she'd be returning again, excited to hear she was romanceable this time around (disappointed in the whole not showing her face thing - hope for ME3).

I came back to the forums, more so out of fear of turning everyone on the ME2 squad, including Tali, into an NPC with 6-10 lines of dialog.... in the final chapter.

Turns out i guess, there is a very large following for the character. for both here and on the Gamespot forums.

Hell, I'm playing an Engineer now that I've realized how crazy useful it is to tie a powerful enemy up with my little drone. If you play with Tali and Legion with your class being an Engineer, you do some really nice crowd control.

Helps immensely when you're clearing out regular Collectors before hitting Harbinger so that the bastard doesn't just spawn back into another Collector drone. If you're in a Geth/synthetic mission, you now also have a squad that an AI hack three different enemies.

Engineer Shepard + Legion + Tali = Team Combat Drone! Popping up behind cover near you!

Shes also adorable. How could you say no to a helmet like that?

If you glance over the Tali threads you will notice that it is mostly the same individuals posting over and over again. Personally I don't think her fan base is all that big or grew they are just a very... dedicated group.

I would be so happy if that happened.
Really.

The way Bioware has developed Tali and the Quarians for that matter, they're easily the most "human" of all sentient alien life I've encountered in the game. By "human", I'm talking about personality.

seriously?

well then damn.... i wish i saw the Brogamers coming on saying "screw bucket head! i want more Miranda tang!"
out of my 5 friends who also went out and bought the game they really liked Tali, Garrus and Thane as love interests...

don't just con' out fans who go through the trouble to talk about the game and their favorite characters, because the one you may like isn't in the majority.

don't rationalize it away.

There were Tali fans all along, they just feel vindicated and can be more vocal with less criticizing about their love of Tali.

The only thing I could compare it to is back in Harry Potter fandom, the vindication of Harry/Ginny "shippers", who at the time were in the minority, when they finally got together in the 6th book.

There's quite a lot of them, not just on these forums. Plus, there's probably new fans from playing ME2 only.

I like Tali, she's a good character and pretty useful in a fight, but her fanbase (at least the most vocal members of it) are more than a little scary.

Its funny you say Tali is soft, in ME1 she could be made into the toughtest charater in game. I've literally watched he kick Saren's rear solo on insanity. She could easily have more shields then anyother character, and her boost could recover them before they where even depleted, and still come off of cooldown.

She's not so tough in ME2, but her drone, shotgun, and sheilding regen loyalty ability makes her well worth taking along.

Aside from the obvious, she is freaking adorable. That kind of adorable that a majority of people who BOTHER with forums like, I actually see Tali appealing a lot to Anime Nerds, it's the "cuteness" of her character, the accent, the suit. I personaly prefer Ash, but I acknowledge that Tali stammering in the description of linking suits was sickeningly adorable.

In short, Tali is for the people who like the cute girl.

just like Miranda is for the people who want the hotness.

Ash appeals very strongly to a very specific crowd, some would say too specific (yet that makes her only more appealing to me)

And Jack is for masochist...er...well, yeah.

There are a lot of sad individuals on the internet; Very vocal individuals that forget their place and act how they want to act without a second thought because of the anonymity the internet provides. The reality is that if you were to ever meet them face to face in real life they would be very docile, very humble, closed people who are, generally, very polite and well spoken.

What you see here is the result of the nature of the internet. People just forget where they are and post stupid things because there is no accountability for their actions. They can be absolute ****** because it has become a standard set by the moderation here. It is tolerated, and therefore, it is a precedent for further behaviour.

This extends to all the love threads, the hate threads, the RPG WHY!? threads, the OMGBIOWAREUSUCK threads... much of what you see on the first page. It is not limited to how people speak of Tali, although that is a large, obvious demographic.

Welcome to the Bioware boards.

They're like hardcore Mac fans. Technically a minority, but they're so loud and preachy you'd swear they own the world.
