Ash appeals very strongly to a very specific crowd, some would say too specific (yet that makes her only more appealing to me)
Why are there so many Tali fans all of a sudden

Hate her in Mass Effect 2. She just sounds selfish to me. Her whining about the Quarian homeworld really made me dislike her. And then she pulled a gun on Legion, making me dislike her even more. Now I haven't actually payed much attention to her yet. I intend to do that in my next playthrough to see if she is actually a likable character, But right now I despise her.
I don't want to kill her though. I'd just like the option to punch her. Just once.

That mixed with a liberal amount of no-life thrown in to boot!
The long of the short of it is they are 12 years old or freaks.

I would love to see where you get your data. Samples from surveys usually show Tali as one of the more popular characters this could or couldn't reflect the entire population but we have no real statistical way to prove that. Her combat drone is good for distracting tough mobs (geth prime) and can knock enimies out of cover.

Professor Krung defines Tali'zorah fanaticism as "redoubling your effort to be like Kirk"; according to Ambassador Udina,"A Tali fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the
subject". By either description the fanatic displays very strict standards and little tolerance for contrary ideas or opinions.
For many Tali'zorah Fanatics a weekly breeding cycle applies, typically regulated by ambient temperature, precipitation, availability of lotion and antiseptics. Breeding habitats tend to be in large and cluttered threads where the fanatic may lay their eggs and hide them from the predatorial LOLRP troll.

Where is your data? Where are the numbers for these surveys? How were these surveys conducted? Oh right, you have have no real statistical way to prove anything you said. You thinking that a charcter is the best thing since hydrogen is one thing but you = 1.

Exactly. This site counts as a small percentage of the fanbase. If you look on other forums and sites, you will see a decrease in Tali fans. Honestly, I think that because the Talimance fans got what they wanted, they are storming the Bioware forums in any way they can.

Talimancers got more than what they wanted, and still they yearn for MORE.

Ah. I'm just wondering, because I'm a liberal agnostic who believes in very progressive values and thinks that mutual cooperation between all species, with none dominating the others, is the best road towards success, but Ashley still appealed to me a very great deal. I guess I'm just weird.SharpEdgeSoda wrote...

OP created his or her account a week ago, and has only registered Mass Effect 2.
~1 week to play and complete the game; comes on to forums to find like-minded people; finds 10 Tali threads. Likely.

Her "I can't tell the aliens from the animals" comment doesn't really help her image.
I think she's the victim of a few unfortunate lines of dialogue that create a bad impression.

Oh, sorry, didn't mean to sound so arrogant. I've seen a lot of data on this site showing Tali as one of the more popular characters. Other sites surveys may show differently. In which case we could combine surveys and get a more accurate view on where the population stands. A lot of people just say Tali isn't popular to the casual gamer but don't provide a measurable reference to back up their claim.

She's not a "can't have" at all. She falls in love with DudeShep and you can sleep with her before the suicide mission, you know. If you're playing FemShep, well then, yes, can't have, indeed.

Of course the number of people who aren't Tali fans are going to outnumber the ones who are. But they aren't agreed on any single other character. As even the most casual perusal of these boards should indicate pretty plainly.

That's what happens when the developers cater to the fans like that.
The fans begged for tali in ME2, bioware gave it to them, now they think they'll get whatever they want as long as they're loud enough.
