There's no telling who the most popular character is. Simply put, there's insufficient data on the matter. As far as saying Tali is the most likeable character in both games, that's a matter of opinion that cannot be put in if one is trying to go on strict numbers.

No I stand by the Likeability factor. She's the consistently nicest, most likeable squadmate in both games who always stands by your character no matter what. Key word here is 'consistent.' Liara is very likable in ME1, but not as much in ME2, for example.

Tali's personality is so affectionate that many people at the very least get 'kid sister' feelings for her, even if they don't care for her romantically. Because of her huge likability factor over two games, she's going to have some popularity.

Most other characters in this series suffer from greater polarization of opinions than Tali. Most anti-tali posters here seem to hate the fans more than the character herself. Just an observation.

That's fine and dandy if you're into that. I don't like it when someone says "how could you not love ___?" I'll state that Tali is in my bottom two picks of characters from the Mass Effect series. There are others that feel the same way I do. Again, to say that she's the most likeable is a complete matter of opinion.

It's as silly as me saying that Kaidan ought to be the most likeable character because of his unshakeable morals and his perserverance in his work through his constant physical pain. The difference between that and someone assuming that Tali is the most likeable character is simple. I am used to having my favorite character critisized, but when someone says that they find Tali either boring or unlikeable, they are suddenly wrong. It's a two way street here.

As for humanity dominating other races, I didn't mean to suggest that that was what you meant, I meant that I don't think the Council should dominate humanity (or the elcor, or the volus, or the hanar, etc.), but that all species should work together for the betterment of all. There should have been a forced survey right before the last boss, lol. But anyway, I wonder how Bioware is collecting their data? (This is just speculation)  If a character gets a point each time they are romanced, diehard fans who romance Garrus 3 times would skew the data compared to someone who romanced Jacob, Thane, and Garrus. I am not fond of Miranda as a character but she is always in my group because of her utility, so time in a group could skew the data in favor of those more useful...

Hate or love who you like but at the end of the day numbers dont lie. If Tali didnt have a strong fan base and if they were not vocal about the character things would be different. She does and they listened. Who's fault is that? If you have a voice speak out and fight for what you want. Bio Ware is out there to make money and if they see the fans asking for something that they can do and make money off of it then more then likely it will happen. Dont hate because a thread has a high count. Get out there an speak about what matters to you and get a high count for your personal passion. It doesnt matter if there are only 5 or 100 people talking about Tali or Miranda or Liara or who ever. They are talking and showing Bio Ware what they have an interest in. If you don't do the same for what you like it is your own fault.

Never said you directly referring to the whole hatred ideal as a whole on the 2nd part.

Yes, BioWare responded by enabling you to kill her. It seems a lot forget that, they just focus on the fact she was made a LI.

Tali fans don't like her for her ability in combat. It's her personality and character. Anyway, I found her really useful. Her combat drone is a savior. Energy drain is great for those annoying shields.

Took the words right out of my mouth. If you ask me she is one of the best written and acted characters in the game. And i've come to rely very heavily on her combat drone. I love that it distracts the larger enemies.

I liked Tali since No. 1 and turned down both blue alien sex and normal human sex for a chance at hooded alien sex. However, Mass Effect 1 did not give such an option...

The problem is that Tali fans are more aggressive than "tali haters" (I use quotations b/c I hope no one actually hates her b/c hating a video game character is a bit silly).

I'm going to use your pop analogy because I love it. I've had times where I'd post that I didn't like pepsi, and within minutes I'd have a group of people demanding to know what my favorite drink was, and some even assuming I liked Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew and laughing at me for it.

And really, there aren't any massive tali hate threads (I think Miranda has one going on, and Jack had a big one earlier today), and the tali threads that do get posted are vastly outnumbered by the tali love threads.

I mean I won't lie I'm a tali fan and fully agreed there are some REALLY fing dumb tali threads ((Did tali give you a boner being one of the key ones)). But sadly people tend to listen to these idiots more then the civil ones. Why? Case people not raving like lunatics isn't interesting. Both sides of this arguments have this example it come down to on both are fault of letting the idiotic ones push people into this.

And to be quite blunt, such threads usually die VERY quickly, because most Tali fans aren't perverted (only fervent). The only ones that really gather any steam are just general "liking Tali" threads.
