Not to mention if you truly went renegade with her it borks the romance. Besides, its just wrong. And I agree with the above about not playing "pure" renegade or paragon. Some choices on both end of the spectrum given the choice seems stupid or naive to me at times. There are times you should opt for the renegade or paragon options even though you might be leaning towards a different path.

Totally agree. I usually wind up with 75% paragon and 30-40% renegade ish in my games

Like the Tali Loyalty mission options? Paragon options in one part seem strictly condescending, where as renegade options are comforting, promising to help her people and carry on her fathers wishes

Ya, I know.
I was wondering though you were still a spectre right? Or did you reject the re-instatement?
The option I had was essentially "I am a spectre, I can do anything I want..." and he caved in.

Don't know if the option is there or if it comes out differently if you aren' a spectre.

the renegades on tali's loyalty all push towards war with the geth is why they are renegade. the paragon is towards peace and just colonizing a new world

IMO playing the game as "pure renegade" or "pure paragon" is just wrong. The game should be played the way you feel it's right. Like during Thane recruiting I punched the Salarian for shoving a gun in my face. And on the other hand, while being outgunned, at Tali's recruitment I told Reegar to stand down. Funny thing, a lieutenant commander giving orders to a captain

@Archonsg ahhh right, your probably right, if you arent a spectre I think it doesnt go as well.

@ AddoExAtrum yeah, but in some parts the paragon conversation options, seem to lean more to renegade in the delivery, where renegade options lean more into paragon in the delivery.

Know exactly what you mean

@ sihill90

technically your not even that. If you are still a spectre cool if not then your nothing, not even part of the alliance military technically since you were dead for 2 years... contract fulfilled! that and you left the alliance's service when you became a Spectre. Well dedicated service

heh, thats good. Not Tali related, I'm aware, but does anyone else find the renegade way of getting store discounts in the citadel really entertaining?

Haven't tried that option. How does it play out?

As I have mentioned before, the renegade options in ME2 is less "kick the three legged dog" and more "I'm a badass...don't ****** me off" thing here then it was in ME1

For example, on the Citadel if you went renegade at the gun store, your response is basically "I kill lots of stuff, geth, mercs and anything that gets in my way. Want to sponsor me?"

I'm not in agreement after watching Renegade male Shepard's pscyhotic scream fest at Tali and Legion in the AI Core room onboard the Normandy.

Hmm actually I rejected the re-instatement with my infiltrator. And I had this option. Just played Thanes mission yesterday and I was able to do it.

My fear is that the renegade options to push for war to recliam Rannoch will as Ka'Regar states, turn the fleet into scrap metal. Either that or Bioware has Admiral Xen as the "loophole" since she has recovered Rael's research. Which works both ways. Renegade option and she gives the quarian the edge to survive the assualt but in dire need of help, paragon option and her work brings new peril to the Quarian fleet and its up to Tali and Shepard to save the fleet.

Chapter 25 in Part 9

Himmel is an exceptional writer and he is doing a more renegade shepard that explains the logic perfectly imo

Agreed. The way I tended to pick the options I felt and thought were most appropriate and in-tune with my own moral compass I ended up with a maxed out Paragon meter (and counting but it simply can't hold any more points) and half of the very first sub-unit bar in the Renegade meter filled. To be frank I'm not sure how some of those Renegade points got there; at times I would get both Paragon and Renegade points during the course of a conversation and there seems to be a bug regarding which outcome you decided for the side mission with the hijacked military base and the two Javelin Mk. II missiles. I debated that scenarior quite a bit with myself and was initially inclined to save the strategic port (the colony can be rebuilt if you keep it), but eventually listened to my idealist heart and reasoned that government and military organizations do not exist to promulgate their own existence. They exist to serve and protect the citizenry. While sacrifices are required at times, on that occasion it did not seem fitting to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of civilians for a space port (which in theory should be able to be rebuilt as well if the desire is there - the game doesn't allow for that though apparently). So I saved the residential area and yet in my completed missions log it showed up as though I had opted to save the spaceport.

Ah so you weren't a spectre and they still give you the "I'm a spectre" speech option? Bug I would say ..
While it is plausible that he is lying, which would play into the renegade role, I am not too sure if Shepard is that stupid to say something that can easily be checked up on and put him and his mission into trouble.

I got a bad feeling from Admiral Xen. I suspect she will turn in to some nightmarish creature involving AI constructs and pose a problem for Shepard and company. Que side-quest anyone?

I have a feeling ME3 is going to be more about building your forces than actually fighting the reapers for the first like 2 hours. Getting the Krogans ready, meeting the Rachini if you have em, Getting the geth and quarians on the same page etc.
