Exactly. Which makes the 'peaceful resolution' that much easier to attain. The Quarians simply need to understand that the Geth have no feelings of remorse, hatred, or revenge. They just need to find a conclusion that benefits both sides.

And i am sure that the geth are willing to work something out.
They are all about the logic, while quarians are still pretty emotional about everything that happened.

The beauty of Mass Effect is that you probably do either. If you want to help the quarians exterminate the geth then Bioware will probably let us. Or if you want to help them reach a peaceful arrangement, Bioware will probably let us do that too. They'll probably even let us help the geth to destroy the quarians.

I don't just love Tali, I like the quarians too...I guess because seeing a quarian female makes me think of my sweet Tali. : < *needs her Tali*

Tali freely offers Legion non-classified information about the Flotilla and gives her accept of it sending it back to the Geth collective consciousness if you have a high enough Paragon factor during their stand-off. I don't doubt that our lovely Tali and her Quarian compatriots have strong feelings regarding the Geth, and yes, I do think both sides have blood on their hands, so isn't it time to settle the matter? And if the matter can be settled without any more loss of Quarian life which is harder to replace than the Geth who simply transfer in to a hub and use another mobile platform (an indicator that a war of attrition greatly favours the Geth incidentally), shouldn't that course of action be considered? There is a time and place for letting go of misplaced pride and accepting that sometimes, no matter how justified one may feel, more angry responses will not soothe old wounds but shall instead tear them deeper with all the ensuing loss that entails. That is not a formula for "victory". It is however a splendid way to overshoot a cliff edge and find yourself high and dry.

Yeah i agree, a lot of people seem more inclined to believe Tali is right, or Legion is right, because they don't have the Paragon points to see what would happen if you go the paragon route to this problem. Legion doesn't tell the other geth about the quarian plans, and Tali gives Legion some other kind of data about the quarians and the two get along just fine after that. This proves quarians and geth are capable of peace.

Also, and for those who have seen the end of the game you'll understand when i say, we don't have the time or the resources to waste on a war between the quarians and geth. To have a chance of defeating the reapers, everyone has to be united and ready to face them. Dying in a war before that will only lessen our chances of survival.

Let's put it this way, if your toaster, which is a damn machine, suddenly rose up and kicked you out of your own home, how would that make you feel?

The fact that the Geth are soulless machines doesn't seem to be getting across well to you people, them being self-aware doesn't make them people or give them souls or feelings, it simply means they KNOW they exist.

Hm. So what exactly is it about us organics that proves we have a soul? We are aware that we exist and we appear to conclude that this means we have souls despite having no empirical evidence to validate it. One could argue we are nothing more than an unlikely formula of chemical signals, flashes of nerve endings sheltered by flesh and supported by bones.

 


And  two back you up on this... Can anyone of the two  qouted posters before even  define what  a soul is? Before you can say some one does not have something you have to be able to define what the something is.

I don't think anything's weird anymore.  I've seen grotesque Tali monster-dolls, read of Tali golden showers and alll in the space of 24 hours.  I really don't know anymore...

Agreed. While I haven't served in some of the places you've mentioned, Moth, I can relate. I've never felt so pacifistic as when I was an active soldier. Had something to do with suddenly having the authority to use lethal force and being taught  how to use certain equipment and shown just what the consequences of their usage can lead to.

I have to agree with you.  It takes are real sick person to get into real life violence and be able to contiue it without wearing down mentally.  Shepard will one day need to stop and enjoy what he has fought for.  Tali will be the one to give him that comfort if I have anything to say about it.

He'll need her love to cope with the nightmares of burning ships, dying friends and dead civilians thatwill haunt him for his whole life.  Although you can't forget, a real, true love is enough to help you cope.

Truer words are rarely spoken (or typed for that matter).

That's why I went for a certain depiction of shepard in my fic, I like heroes who are all too human. Black and white good or evil types are a little too dull and predictable for my tastes.

Welcome back! I'm struggling with the pace of this thread, listening/watching YouTube clips, thinking about life/the future, contemplating my tali-love.

At heart I'm the iconic "good guy" although, hinting at what you say, in real life sometimes it doesn't always work out quite the way I might have wanted. I experience temptations and such yet I keep a fairly tight reign on trying to meet my own high standards. I tend to be more forgiving with people on many points where I'd judge myself more harshly. So, with my Shepard it's maxed out Paragon with just under half the first bar of Renegade filled.

P.S. There are some of the Renegade interrupt moments that I feel somewhat unfairly lean to that side. Take for example Illium when you are speaking with one of the Eclipse officers while his squad are training their weapons on you. It seemed quite clear to me that things were coming to a violent head, so in real life I'd consider it tactically smart to shoot the gas tank down on top of the mercs after snapping the neck of the merc officer. I suppose BioWare made it a Renegade act because it violates the chivalry implicit in parlay.

Full Renegade and one bar less Paragon.  I need that extra renegadey boost to make those really ruthless decisions.

I know what you mean about the pace though, it's killing me. Is there an extra slow thread for the old and infirm Tali lovers around here?
