Chapter One
"Damn that Veetor," an angry Prazza spat, folding his arms. "This is stupid, Tali'Zorah. We all know that."
Tali's gaze retracted from the window outlooking space, and she turned to meet Prazza's masked glare. "I am giving the orders, Prazza," she said, voice showing signs of irritability. "And I do not need your input."
Prazza scoffed, looking away. "Bosh'tet..." he muttered. Tali ignored the insult.
"Nira, how much further?"
"We are pulling into orbit now," Nira replied from the cockpit of the small shuttle. "Though there aren't any signs of life on the planet... I was led to believe Freedom's Progress was quite the populated human colony?"
"It is." Tali confirmed, unsure. "They aren't hailing us?"
"No," assured Nira. "Odd. I hope Veetor is okay."
Prazza removed himself from silence. "To hell with him," he began again. "Pulling us all the way from the Flotilla just to--"
There was a stop to his words, as Tali pointed her pistol towards his head. An awkward silence filled the shuttle, as the other Quarians that had been assigned to Tali's command watched silently. Prazza was not know for his tolerance. Nor was Tali, for that matter.
She slowly hoistered her weapon, glancing towards the planet below. Prazza remained silent for the rest of the ride.

The team of Quarian's exited the shuttle, stepping into the human city. There were no human,s Tali noted. And an uneasy feeling in the air, that sent chills even down Prazza's spine.
"What happened here?" asked Keema--a female Quarian, armed with an assault rifle.
"I don't know," Tali replied, stepping forward. Her team followed. As they progressed, they continued to notice the lack of humans. All of the lights remained on, as if they had just gotten up and left.
Prazza spoke up. "We shouldn't be here..." he noted, looking suspicously around him, jumping at any sound. Tali, again, ignored him. The team pulled up to the nearest building--a small, human home--Tali had assumed. The doors opened when they approached, and thermal rounds tore at the Quarian team from the other side.
"Bosh'tet!" Tali exclaimed, pressing her back against the side of the building in order to escape fire. Her team had already done the same. They removed themselve's from cover, and returned fire of their own, with the difference of dealing damage--a task their new attackers hadn't pulled off so well.
Prazza was the first to inspect the remains of their foes. "Mechs," he noted, examing them for any useful parts. Expendable, he thought.
The rest joined him. "Mechs?" Keema asked. "They shouldn't be programed to attack us."
"No," agreed Tali. "They shouldn't."
"I hope Veetor is okay," stated a worried Belek--a male amongst Tali's group.
"Keelah, this is stupid! Veetor is most likely dead, Tali'Zorah, can we not just go back to--"
"I'm in chrage, Prazza!" snapped Tali. "If you don't like it, go back and wait on the ship."
Prazza, again, suffered poison from Tali's sudden venom. He remained silent. And perhaps I should keep it this way. he thought glumly.
"Belek, Keema, take point." Tali ordered. "Prazza, Veran, you have the rear. The sooner we find Veetor, the better."
Her squad nodded in understanding, albeit a stone-faced Prazza. They spent about half an hour, walking slowly, carefully through the deserted city. Eventually, they came to a large gate. It was locked, and Tali growled in frustration.
"One moment," she stated, playing with her omni-tool in an attempt to overide the locks. A burst of fire sounded from behind, narrowly missing Belek's head. The team turned, only to see a dozen mechs heading their way, firing from their rifles. Their first instincts were to gain cover, and return gunfire.
"Damn it!" seethed Prazza.
"Hold on," Tali said hurriedly, still fiddling with her omni-tool. "Just a little longer..."
A large hiss escaped from the gate's pressurized doors, and it began to slowly open. Tali, along with the rest of her team, ran through, finding new cover until the doors sealed shut again, blocking them from any danger on the other side.
The Quarian's remained silent a few moments, collecting their thoughts. Finally, Prazza broke the silence:
"Damn that Veetor..."
