Aye, I do comprehend why many women may not feel the same gushing desire for Tali, but I am a bit surprised by the apparent lack of female input.
female here!! my input comes in the form of pics mostly though
I figured as much and I for one am glad to have ya here!
What is it about Tali that appeals to you?
I like her personality... I always used her in my squad in ME1 too- always her and Liara.I was really psyched to see her again and so soon in ME2! I just think she's a fun character with a lot of spunk and stories to tell; her background is cool.
That said, I can't say she's my fave (sorry!) but she's definitely a great addition to the game. I can't pick a favorite actually... I like quite a few of the squad. But I would really love her to be ME3 so I'm right with you all!
Fair enough, and sounds good to me. I think we appreciate many of the same qualities in Tali, though my appreciation likely runs just a tad bit deeper....

Tali is awesome because of her assets.
She has so many assets that she could very well be called an assassin.
An asset assassin yes.

I for one have no problem with any of the 'love' threads. It's the 'hate' threads that worry me.
Hate and revenge can be a hugely addictive, sweet poison. Hard to let go of sometimes. I much prefer to find those moments of peace where the world around me, as well as my life, become clearer. Stories and characters of the calibre that BioWare has delivered with ME2 actually help me reach those moments. It was a quite remarkable (and much welcomed/needed) reprieve when it happened during my first playthrough of ME2. Shepard's and Tali's love affair stirred many thoughts and feelings deep inside of me. I hope to be able to utilise some of that energy and funnel it into constructive real-life development in my own life.

I respect everyone's opinions really. My best mate went straight for Miranda, each to own, right? FYI, he doesn't think Tali is cool but I think it's a more plutonic thing as far as he's concerned. Everybody needs something to love.

I don't see why somebody would pick miranda. She's just so fake looking. Her face was poorly modeled and it looks like there is somethign wrong with it. I can't really describe. Her accent is hot, but that's all she has going for her, imo.

I think that the current squad you have will be available in ME:3 apart from a few...
- Thane
- Grunt
- Samara (she said that shes gonna help people in Omega)
Maybe more, but I think that you will have to rebuild your team again in ME:3 as most of them will have gone their seperate ways.
And ofc some will be added
Samara said "maybe I'll return to Omega" and she did offer to always be just a call away (well, if you didn't continue to hit on her until she makes it clear she is flattered and would have dragged you to the floor in her maiden years, but that sex without feelings is not for her and that it won't happen....At least not in ME2). I'd be delighted to see Samara return. She is consistently one of my top picks for the active squad as a powerful biotics using, assault rifle wielding hot Asari justicar. Also, I find her background intriguing. She does give Tali a bit of a run for her money in my book, buuuuut....Tali'Zorah. What can I say? I melt like butter.

I agree that they may have lacked the foresight to make a reasonable decision considering they probably didn't know the extent of the geth's cogntive function but the anaolgy of a malfunctioning machine is faulty. If your washing machine one day asked you "Does this unit have a soul? Is this unit alive? What is this unit's purpose?" you wouldn't be justified in just sending in the Maytag repair man to shut it down.
If said washing machine controlled defence systems or power grids and had never been programmed to understand the concept of a soul then you'd be justified by switching it off. It wasn't just a case of the quarians had all these completely harmless machines suddenly asking them questions, so they bashed their heads in. These things were operating all aspects of the quarian industry.

To be honest, after Liara in the first one I didn't really want another romance that would end badly. Enter Tali.

You're saying Tali's LI would end badly? She seemed fine after the encounter apart from getting sick.

Miranda DOES look pretty damn hot and tempting in those tight outfits of hers. I'd be lying if the more primal side of my male character wasn't drawn to her. I think she could make a good love interest and was gearing up for that in fact...and then Kelly uttered those memorable words about Tali being interested in Shepard. It was a losing battle trying to resist after that.
